  • This film is a masterpiece

  • koreans acting is 100% real

  • almost matches oldboy in terms of magnificent plot, but vastly exceeds oldboy in the disturbing nature of its characters. such an amazing film

  • vengeance exists? really? ;))

  • the vengeance trilogy was AMAZING!!!!! XD

  • can someone please answer a question for me? i saw oldboy a few years ago.. just watched mr. vengeance yesterday as i was unaware oldboy was part of a trilogy.. just wanted to make sure, i don't remember much of oldboy.. this isn't exactly a sequential trilogy, right? like, each movie is its own story.. yes?? thx!

  • @watchforpiranha Yes, it is a spiritual trilogy in that all three films are centered around the theme of vengeance. However, there are a lot of reference and easter eggs to the other films. Not to mention cameo appearances of the same actors.

  • She kinda looks like Marie Digby c(=

  • is this an official american trailer? i think its crap, better watch the original korean one. its more dramatic and stunning.

  • I've seen Oldboy and I'm wondering is this is better? and how is Mr. Vengeance?

  • @tatertots725 I've heard many people say that this film is the most well crafted, but that it comes off like Chan Wook-Park is getting too full of himself - possibly as a result. The music in this trailer and the title cards (mimicking the opening title sequence) show this pretty well. So if you don't find that off putting... Mr. Vengeance is incredible. Again I've heard complaints - in this case about characters - but they all have clear motivations; I felt sorry for them, and liked them a lot.

  • @tatertots725 In my opinion - I don't have anything against Lady Vengeance, but I see the complaints, whether I agree with them or not. Mr. Vengeance is probably my favorite of the whole trilogy, and I really don't understand the complaints surrounding that one - in regards to characters. It's about desperate people doing terrible things for noble reasons. There are very few things they do in which you have to ask yourself why that is. They're victims of circumstance, and their own faults.

  • Easily Park Chan-wook's best film.

  • Get a grip, lol... Korean and American societies are founded on different cultural and social principles. Blaming one or the other for a re-edit is massively lame, since both cultures have different methods of narrative delivery - it's the same with all anglo-asian media relations.

  • in line with the series i don't know if old boy or this movie was the best.. but the sympathy for mr vengence was a waste time compared to those 2, it's not the same fucked up kinda movie. but really the trailer for his movies don't give any justice to how truly amazing the movie is. DON'T BOTHER WATCHING THE TRAILER

  • i try not to make bad comments about anything...but i fucking hate the american trailers for non-hollywood films. look what they've done....gah...it's unbelievably pothetic how they never give shit about the film itself...they're just trying to gather some ppl to watch the film by creating a fake..Kill Bill-like image!! this is an epic fail..an EPIC FAIL!

  • geee....why the US trailer sucks so much compare to the original Korean one....

the one for Sympathy for Mr vengeance is even worse....

  • So, what's with the eyeshadow anyway?

  • Just watched it, definitively not a feel-good movie.

  • Worst thing about kill bill is her master is Chinese ,how did she learn Japanese sword style lol. Kill bill messed up totally bt Chinese n Japanese styles. The fighting styles are also totally Asian movie style. Storyline was bit of messes up Only great thing was great actors actresses. That why it wasn't in director best 20 films .

  • @nobreakpeter163978 Hahahaha I think you`re taking Kill Bill a little bit too seriously. I believe the whole idea behind Kill Bill was for it to be a parody of asian revenge films and the whole aesthetics that implies.

In no way can you compare it to this movie, they`re both masterpieces of different genres.

  • Just watched it , love it

  • watching the trailer, guess what i have in mind? Action, detective, thriller film... leave it to American to make a mess...

  • No doubt about it, asians do have the best revenge plots.

  • Why does it seem like there are so many people who can't like two things seperately? Tarantino is awesome, Chan-Wook is awesome. I don't understand why we're all apparently expected to pick sides...

  • @thecrimsonfloyd Chan wook is awesome, Tarantino is crap. No wonder KIll Bill was a flop in Korea

  • @thecrimsonfloyd Agreed.

  • TBH, this was the worst of the three. Sad but true. I loved the ending though.

  • Here is the whole movie

    /watch?v=JDJWTOU00Ik

  • I thought Old Boy was better.

  • SPOILERS IN THE TRAILER. NICE ONE.

  • Actually this trailer is great. It does not show the amazing turn of events that end up happening in this fantastic film.

  • If you already watched this movie from netflix, smile.

  • I heard this is a very good movie. I want to see it.

  • absolute masterpiece!! DO NOT WATCH TRAILER CAUZ IT IS A SPOILER..

  • omg dont compare this with kill bill because this movie is in a whole other level both are great movies but just dont compare them to each other!!!!

  • This trailer doesn't do the movie justice. I'm glad the movie hasn't been remade by Hollywood and hope it won't be remade ever :P

  • u can easily compare it to kill bill, but this is far superior in my opinion. kill bill was like a light waltz through the park in comparison to how deep this movie goes.

  • I think the trailer is rather interesting in comparison to the actual film since it kind of depicts the film as a rather typical revenge movie and I went into it with that expectation and was pleasantly surprised that the movie was not like that.

  • I so love this movie

  • why does hillywood always feel the need to "explain" everything? this trailer got it all wrong....

  • daeshabdracatlin79 --> not 2009, but 2005.

  • I love this trailer.

  • Wow this compared to the orginal.. this one looks crap O_o I'm asssuming things but i wont say it..

  • Am I the only one who thinks the American trailer complete messed up the plot of the movie or do I need to watch the movie again?

  • i thought this was the more comical out of the vengeance trilogy

  • of the trilogy, it seems like Mr. V was the realest of the three, Oldboy, the grittiest, and Lady, the most beautiful. And of course all three are deliciously violent.

  • how can you compare this masterpiece with kill bill? that's unbeleavable. hilarious comment thow ;))

  • @MScofield007 Kill Bill is a masterpiece too. But i agree, the comparison is stupid.

  • @MScofield007 u can easily compare it to kill bill, but this is far superior in my opinion. kill bill was like a light waltz through the park in comparison to how deep this movie goes.

  • @MScofield007 Probably because they're both revenge movies.

BTW, IMDb scores. Kill Bill 8.1. Kill Bill 2 8.0, Lady Vengeance 7.7

I like Lady Vengeance a lot, I just bought the blu ray the other day. But I don't favor pretentiousness. Don't give me any crap about IMDb ratings either, this isn't box office numbers here, this is widespread opinion, it's the closest you can get to objectivity. According to those numbers Kill Bill is not an inferior movie. Nice comparing apples and oranges.

  • @MScofield007 Hey. Don't be saying Kill Bill is bad. Sure, I love the fuck out of Chan-wook Park and all of his movies, but if someone told me Kill Bill sucked, I would cut them.

  • @MScofield007 well, kill bill is a masterpiece too...but they are really different styles of movie..

  • Comment removed

  • @MScofield007

Watched both. Meh, still love KB more.

  • f%% you hollywood-holic

  • This trailer totally misses the point of the movie - leave it to the US to butcher foreign films. And no to the Oldboy remake!!

  • @tandooriconnection holywood is shit. oldboy made american action films look like a joke with a badget of 6 milion dolar. so funny how those assholes invest over 100 milion on every freaking movie and its all looks like shit with stupid storyline.

  • @tandooriconnection I know. The whole reason these masterful films aren't as praised as they should be is becasue they're marketed to Americans as gore flicks, so no one with a decent taste in movies will watch them.

  • @tandooriconnection its done, thank fucking god, they woulda made it action thriller

  • @tandooriconnection I think that makes this a great trailer for the movie. The trailer only prepares the audience for the first act, and gives them no hint of the truths behind her hunt that lead to the second act. The trailer preserves all of the surprise by making the viewer think the story is simpler than it really is.

  • @tandooriconnection I'm sure you'd rathter they gave away the entire film like every other American trailer does...

  • @tandooriconnection I see your point, as the trailer does set it up as a standard revenge story (the only egregiously bad part is the "Coming for you soon" which, while funny, is misleading as to the tone of the film), but in fairness that's how the plot itself runs until certain later developments which I wouldn't spoil for those who haven't seen it. It's also good that they included some of the surreal scenes and soundtrack in the trailer. All in all I think @futurestoryteller is right.

  • This was the most beautiful movie I have ever seen. Easily one of my favorites.

  • Park Chan Wook is the Sergio leone and Ennio Morricone of cinema.Ffffukin fantastic!

  • I actually think Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone are the Sergio Leone and Ennion Morricone of cinema, myself.

  • but this trailer sucks x)

  • a lot of people don't like this movie from the trilogy but i think is the best of

    is like poetry in moving

  • On reflection, this is a much "nicer" film than its siblings. Now that sounds a little off in a series dubbed the "Vengeance trilogy" but compared to Mr Vengeance which is one of the most down beat films of recent times and the brutality of Oldboy it feels a lot more warm to watch.

In saying that it is probably my least favourite. It still is a great film, but Mr Vengeance is a masterpiece.... And Oldboy, well its something else, I could fall in love with that film.

  • best movie

  • such a great smile at the 1:35 mark. this is also a great film as well. the directing is superb.

  • This was the greatest film I had ever seen for the first hour but then it sadly started drifting off for me. It's still one of the best filmed movies I've ever seen though.

  • Chill the FUCK down! We all just got to be cool, and that's the truth, Ruth.

  • i have oldboy and sympathy for mr.vengeance and theyre great, but im not particularly impatient to watch this one.

  • but you should my friend... i would admit that it is better than the others

  • it's something to be said about korean cinema. i barely got into asian cinema, and i must say i am impressed. i received the vengeance trilogy as a gift for x-mas, at first when i watched it, i thought "damn how do you justify vengeance" in of itself. park chan wook does a fantastic job of making it make sense. casts have been great. i'll be damned though if some hotshot american director takes these movies and makes a US version and totally bastardizes it.

  • surprisingly, now their trying to make a remake of sympathy for lady vengeance with charlize theron. i'm very concerned whether or not they're going to butcher park chan wooks work. if they even try it on oldboy i'm going to scream

  • We riot if they attempt to remake Old Boy >:O

  • they're adapting the manga which is different from the movie anyway.

  • There a Manga for Lady Vengeance?

I think your referring to Spilberg and Smith adaption of "Old Boy" which will be base around the manga and not Park Chan Wook "Old Boy."

  • Yeah. I was replying to the person who was talking about the Oldboy remake.

  • hahah my bad.

  • personally, i like old boy among the three. but what the hell, all are awesome films, kick ass cast..i love all the three movies. maybe it depends on the persons taste on how he chooses his favorite.

  • This is not a movie for action fans or those who go to the cinema once a month because they are bored. you don t realy feel good after you watched this movie because it s realy touching. This is a Film for people with patience and the will to realy watch a movie not to kill some time.

  • Well done!

  • WOW

  • Park Chan Wook is like the Tarrantino of East Asia

  • The problem with that statement is that Park Chan Wook has talent and should not be lumped in the same category as Tarrantino who only has 2 remotely good films.

  • 2 good films? kill bill vol1 & vol2, pulp fition, reservoir dogs, not to mention he has help write numerous movies.

  • Kill Bill 1 & 2 were not good movies. If you wanna talk about great filmmakers... Tarrantino is not on the list. Darren Aronofski, Michel Gondry, Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese, Francis Coppola, Sam Mendes, Stanley Kubrick, Coen Brothers, and Steven Spielberg are some of the best. So when you compare Park Chan Wook to a mediocre american filmmaker, you are not giving him much of a compliment.

  • m8 that is your opinion and what i said was mine. i couldn't care less if you said tarrantino was a complete failiure.

  • Such Korean director is really crazy!

I cannot find any word to describe his productions.

  • lol. coming for you soon.

  • can anyone tell me the song at the beginning??

  • the song is "mareta, no m´faces plorar".

  • Out of all the Park Chan-wook's Vengeance trilogy, Lady Vengeance is by far my favourite. The cinematography was absolutely superb, especially the use of colours. Lee Young-Ae was absolutely fantastic. And the music was superb. Although Old Boy was equally well-done, the twisted plot and incest was just a little too much. But Lady Vengeance had just enough shock, but never went overboard.

  • thanks for the spoiler!

  • this is one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life

  • Its not as good as Oldboy, but imo its hard to reach that movie anyway. In my opinion, Lady Vengeance is the least of the three, but still a masterpiece. Damn, I love Park chan-wook. Literally. I would marry his movies if I could ôO ;)

  • I liked this movie more than Oldboy =/

  • for me, this is the best among the vengeance trilogy. every scene is picturesque, the baroque music complemented the story well, the story and ending is wittingly subjective and the acting, most especially that of the lead actress, Lee Young Ae is superb. it's a feast to the eye and a movie that will leave you lingering on. what a good way to end the trilogy.

  • Oldboy was waaay much better

  • i agree i have both lady vengeance and oldoy and i've seen sympathy for mr vengeance, but i liked Oldboy WAAAY better.

  • What songs are being played? Where can I find the soundtrack?

  • Awesome movie! Another vengeance film from Park Chan Wook. Not the shock value of Oldboy but an awesome flick with a higher purpose and IMHO the best of the 3 revenge films. A beautifully woven tale that contemplates revenge and redemption. Loved it!

  • are you serious? I believed all the hype that surrounded this movie so i bought the dvd. For my surprise, this movie was nothing more than a boring piece of shit. Seriously, NOTHING happens in this slow-ass paced movie. "ultra-violent" "the best revenge thriller since kill bill" my ass. The director decided to bored us to death with this so called "ultra violent", 20 second long "torture" scenes. Jesus Christ this movie was HORRIBLE!

  • you gotta be retarded... just imagine you killed all those people children...and you know you're going to be slaughtered but kept alive until the last parent may get his hands on you and finish you off...

  • ... just like your taste in movies, obviously.

  • A piece of shit?

  • LOOKZ LIKE CRAP

  • ive already seen this movie and the trailer doesn't give the whole movie away...you shouldn't judge if you don't even know what you're talking about

  • ...go to korean video store and borrow it...the movie was beautiful, asian yet western, yet...yea...just watch it! haha : )

  • Wow, that looks good, and it's by Park Chan-wook, it has to be good, maybe it's for sale by now...

    Thanks for sharing!

  • I wanna see it now! i do love his work... sympathy for mr. vengeance and oldboy were brilliant.

  • the korean trailer gives a different 'feel,' almot as if it were a different film. This one does seem to carry too much plot, but I expet I'll enjoy the film regardless.

  • this looks horrible...gives away the whole movie in the trailer...definitely not going to see this...

  • They also did that with some movie ad in theaters about 2 people switching luck or something. Anyways, they get their luck back and live happily ever after. THE END.

(The movie isn't even in theaters yet.)

  • I know it's not in theaters yet...I saw the trailer on screen with BRICK this weekend...

  • no, definitely you have to see, its beautiful, all the soundtrack and the photo, like a recomendation see it! you won't regrate

  • Actually it doesn't. Trust me. Those scenes are more or less "minor giveaways"

  • cool,...

  • I CANT FUCKING WAIT

is it going to be on the big screen in the states?

  • great!!!
