To peacelovereve my hamster just nibbles me but she has bitten one of my friends and she had to pull her off her skin , it wernt because it hurt my friend but my hamster wouldn't let go ;D
@FrannoFlake Calm her down , wear gloves , pick her up from her neck not the stomach , if you pick her up from the stomach she will bite you , and if she still bites then it means that she is pregnant. this is one of the 5 early signs for hamster pregnancy, does she bite her cage or try to escape?

Thank god for youtube I found a golden hamster outside my house last night and i have no idea on how to take care of them. I think he was abandoned by his owner so he was taking shelter outside my back door, probably because he saw my mom with my dog a few minutes before, hes lucky he didnt get eaten.

@julistar98 Its an animal HOSPITAL, you moron. The dogs are in hospital for a reason and have likely just had an operation or similar. I worked at a vet's, and thats the typical cage size for post-op patients. Putting a dog thats just had surgery into a large cage gives it room to move too much and harm itself after the operation; you always want to restrict excersize after an op.
You really should educate yourself a bit before you throw accusations of cruelty about....you have no idea.

I have two Syrian hamsters, and they need many toys becasue they are probably the most active hamsters. Even if it a paper towel tube, it will keep them busy. A special treat for Syrian hammies is a tiny bit of cheese or yogurt. When we make chex mix, they love that , too. They also need a large cage because they get big.....fast. I <3 Golden Hamsters.
in my experience of reering hamsters i find that if you rub a little brown sauce on their tummys it helps them sleep at night. plus if you feed them at 8.02am, 12.02pm and 5.37pm during the day they will lead a far healthier and happier life.
i know what i am talking about as i successfully trained 3 hamsters to finish in the top 5 of the european hamster marathon finals (2002-2004)
when u get one (if you get one) u should spend near it for the first 3-5 days so it can get used to you scent then try hand feeding it if you still think it doesnt trust you try rubbing you hand in bedding and putting it close to your hamster move your hand back if it begins to squint at you never wake it up in the middle of sleeping at night is best time it can get used to

Its not too early lol. Just give her little treats and she'll know that things that come from you're hands are only good things. dont worry about your hamster pooping everywhere its what they do only get worried if it wee's where it eats and sleeps which it shouldn't do because you said it was trained
if you watch your hamster eating, it wont actually eat the poop it will avoid it

My hamster doesn't bite much anymore. The only time he bit me was the first time I met him and he was kind of sleeping so... But he's a wonderful little guy and I highly recommend one to anybody who wants one.
i know its not a good idea to have 2 syrian hamsters in the same cage but is there a way i could? Like if they were from the same litter or if they were together at an early age or at a pet store they just seem to get along?
I use the asperger method, where i put my hamster in a box in the size of a dead infant, and then i put strawberry fields by beatles on - and let it play for days. then i switch music to deutschland über alles and force the hamster to watch minorities get tortured on my iPhone.
the results will be that the hamster actually starts speaking to you in german, and so u must poke it with a pen until it dosent move no more. use the asperger method
try to come to the clam and dont make alot of noise. Dont wake them up during the day time or theyll get cranky. Try to scoop them up and be very gentle. If you cant get them out try to bribe them w/ a type of veggie of fruit. Once theyre out try to scoop them. Be gentle and give them some time (:

well...in e past my parents wont allow me to keep them indoor so i left them outside =/ and they became very vulnerable to external threats
(stolen and some just escaped and jumped off e building...) there were a few tat got their heads stucked inside e cage and they died eventually (gripped by metal bars)

syrians are larger and a bit more aggressive, the benefit is that if they escape they are easier to catch.

llol mine did not leave a wound just a bite mark when i let it bite me cute fangs...anyway when i hold up my hamster to cuddle it keeps shitting on my hand and in the cage when i observe it also shits like every 2 minutes...i did not overfeed it onli fed it 3 nuts and 1 carrot per day

My hamster doesn't bite much anymore. The only time he bit me was the first time I met him and he was kind of sleeping so... But he's a wonderful little guy and I highly recommend one to anybody who wants one.

oh, i see you use an alternative method.
I use the asperger method, where i put my hamster in a box in the size of a dead infant, and then i put strawberry fields by beatles on - and let it play for days. then i switch music to deutschland über alles and force the hamster to watch minorities get tortured on my iPhone.
the results will be that the hamster actually starts speaking to you in german, and so u must poke it with a pen until it dosent move no more. use the asperger method

try to come to the clam and dont make alot of noise. Dont wake them up during the day time or theyll get cranky. Try to scoop them up and be very gentle. If you cant get them out try to bribe them w/ a type of veggie of fruit. Once theyre out try to scoop them. Be gentle and give them some time (:

I find them so cute but the thing is is that most hamsters HATE being held and bite. I have a rat who LOVES being held and has never bit me in his life, he sleeps with me, cuddles with me, goes on walks with me and sits on my shoulder. They rock

What? Most hamster do not hate being held and bite!!!! I have had lots of hamsters and they all loved being handled, only one, who was a rescue, has bitten. So don't categorize them like that. BTW, I agree that rats are better, tho, I have 5.

well...in e past my parents wont allow me to keep them indoor so i left them outside =/ and they became very vulnerable to external threats
(stolen and some just escaped and jumped off e building...) there were a few tat got their heads stucked inside e cage and they died eventually (gripped by metal bars)
