I talked to Ryan Mendez after the show in Manchester and he said they were touring with atl because they have a really strong fanbase, but they've got nothing in common so those comments are just out of place.

Light up the Sky is a great love song

but the line i would die for you expresses a deep love for whoever he is talking about

in my opinion it adds to the deep meaning in the lyrics

as for whether or not the single would sell

people learn to love a song whether or not it sounds good at first

either way the album has lots of other great songs it still would sell

Yeah, Ocean Avenue had all the poppy beats, but Lights and Sounds and Paper Walls were much better for me.

If only Light Up the Sky had a better chorus- it has the trademark yellowcard sound, but "let me tell you why/ I would die for you" just kills the mood of the song, pardon the pun. Why would you talk about dying in a love song like that?

Add that to a stupid video clip and the single failed which did nothing to sell the album, unfortunately.

if im honest i never used to like this band at all (from some reason when i was 15 i thought hope of the states were the only decent band with a violinst and became very pretective about this.) 4 years older and discovering bands like godspeed you! Black Emperor and liam frost and the slowdown family i have been proven so so wrong. It has this beautiful hauntingly crackled quality to it with a build up of noise and dilgently written lyrics, quite astounding if im honest.
