  • Gorgeous bassline and awesome job as usual :)

Michael's incredible (especially on Going places, my fav by him)

He has that dope Jamerson feel but he's been into jazz/funk/rock fusion so he's more modern.

    Great vid,thanks for posting ;)

    Peace out.

  • omg dude can i sample your bass?we gotta collab!

  • do you know the bassline to Take Me, Im Yours?

  • Do U Have Tabs For This?

  • good fuckin job you made me run for mybass

  • I love that. My nephews will be be here for Christmas, with their guitars, and I will TRY to explain how something like a bassline can effect their world.....any words of wisdom? C

  • nice

  • real nice

now if only you could play the sax part on bass

  • michael henderson is at ronnie scott's sep 21-23 uk

  • very nice, is that a fender precision?

  • Thanks - this is a 73 Jazz bass with active EMG pickups

  • sounds good either way, im a novice bassist, been thumpin for bout 2 years now on my ernie ball stingray. u utilize chords and harmonics pretty well, something im still having trouble with. anyways good stuff man, keep it up.

  • very nice! 1 of my favorite songs. also, love the cover done by conya doss.

  • this is one of my all time bass lines: priceless

michaei henderson is definitely an underrated bass player,

    incredible vocalist as well

  • By the way...Nice playing...I actually "favorited" you!

  • Yeah...Norman Connors actually did this song....He featured Michael Henderson on vocals...

  • Deeep

  • gr8 job!!!!

  • Whoa! This is one of my most favorite songs...my husband is GUARANTEED to get some playing this one..lol

  • Well said itinsley2. Soul music like this is the lost art. Today's neo-soul crowd are on the journey, but they are far behind this kind of feeling.

  • If you like this bass line then check out

    Freddie Mgreggor "Natural Collie".

  • i searched it...it was dope

  • that is wonderful well played

  • This is so beautiful, I can't stop playing it!

    Well played

  • Boy boy boy I spent alot of nights high as gas prices listening to this song.

  • This baseline reminds me of the West side of Philadelphia

  • I loved this song from the first time I heard it about 20 years ago. I realized Mr. Conners uses chords for the baseline during the chorus. That's insane. Very cool playing.

  • i've loved this song since i was a kid. until just now i never really paid the bass line much attention. theres so much more going on than i realized. this really is an excellent post

  • Actually guys this is Norman Conners.

  • Michael Henderson did the vocals.

  • Jamersonshook is more than a bass/player/instructor. He is educating his audience on the finer points of music. No artist today makes music like this.

Hip Hop killed this type of vibe. Not to mention the damage that disco and sugary pop have done.

I must really applaud the English people's appreciation of music. Without the English soul music would have died a long time ago.

  • I agree wholeheartedly my brother. Europeans know real music and they've always had a appreciation of it. From Otis Redding and Percy Sledge to the jazz greats like Louis Armstrong and Dexter Gordon. Even Marvin Gaye exiled to Belgium when the IRS came after him. Much love to you fellow music enthusiast/critic/lover. We gotta keep the real thing alive. The NeoSoul cats (and kittens) have tried. Some people still dig real music.

  • I always wondered why Europeans shamelessly worship at the Blues/Funk/Soul alter while a lot of white Americans only appreciate it when covered by British bands in the form of heavy metal. American rock bands NEVER rocked like Zepplin and Sabbath who started as blues bands and Muddy Water fans. They take our music across the pond and rock harder than our white homies in the USA? They fuckin rule!

  • That's some cool stuff, fella. Nice groove.

  • michael henderson is back see him live absolutely brilliant

  • Pretty good!!

  • Such a beautiful line. I'm trying to learn as many tunes as possible at the moment. So, that inspired another choice. Thanks for that. And have you always played using the 'hook' thing?

  • That's Great. I have NO musical talent, so watching you coax that sweet melody from the bass was mesmerizing and very cool.

  • Ok, that was hot. Youre showing what a bass can really do.

  • Cheers!

  • you almost got it perfect except for the major 7 chords at the end of the chorus

  • That was hot man!

  • Thanks - MH is a straight up bass God, how could I go wrong with stuff like this?!!

  • That was hot it made me cry because i was so into it your awesome thanks for that post...

  • nice sounding bass... i wish i could play!!!! Anyone heard the Freddie McGreggor Reggae version? It is off the hinges and rollin' down your way....

  • Yeah!! I sent a copy to Michael Henderson - he likes it!!

  • yes i LOVE the reggae version with fredddie mcgregor i think its called natural collie..wicked!!

  • ...that's it. Reggae does the BEST covers!

  • True that Jamersonshook..... ya... tiz Freddie M. "Natural Collie" and I don't know its original recorded origin, but I own it on a compilation put out in the last 10 years called 500% Dynamite from some really righteous re-issuers... ya... Reggae... Scratch Perry... Jackie Mittoo... King Tubby....

  • oohhh.. i can´t believe it ...i have the reggae version recorded from radio but never knew who it was.i´ve been looking for this over 5 maybe 6 years...thanks melissabell29 "Freddie McGreggor" and now i know the song name too !!!i´m gon find it somewhere and buy it asap!!! thanks a lot

where are you based?..if you are local to london I may be able to pass some live work your way...i get asked from time to time for good bassists...i play 4 string (sometimes quite badly) its the best instrument in the world!`

  • Good job! I love this song! It was one of my first 45s when I was 5 or 6.

  • Good 1st 45!! LOL, I won't embarrass myself by telling what mine was...

  • wow i play bass ....wow good job .....

  • Cheers!

  • Nice Job! Great song too! Look for a Michael Henderson song called "(I cant wait) until the rain comes". Limewire has it. "Treat me like a man" by the Dramatics w/Michael Henderson on Bass...give that a shot. Also any early Lonnie Liston Smith! Good Luck!

  • Thanks - it's all good, especially when MH is playin'!

  • can u play at the concert yet by MH, and Roberta Flack? ya got skills, but don't forget to play live when ever you can, i always wanted to be a great studio bassist, ended up being a pro driver-limo,semi etc! no regrets but miss playing fulltime alot, still have skills mostly ol-school jams, but if you ever have a big band n need a ecellent driver/setup/cool advisor who uses no drugs look me up!

  • Cheers - I don't do enough live work sadly, but I'm ready if something turns up!

  • that was nice i like that

  • Good job!!

  • as a bass player of 2 years im still a beginner because ive been tributing rhcp and modern bands. ive been searching for old school bass riffs that might actually be 'complicated'

    thank you for posting this

  • Hi there - check out the list of bass players on my channel page. Try typing their names in to a search on allmusic dot com. You won't be disappointed.

  • Yes Michael Henderson ! Check him out with Miles, especially DARK MAGUS ! Nasty !
