I love that. My nephews will be be here for Christmas, with their guitars, and I will TRY to explain how something like a bassline can effect their world.....any words of wisdom? C
sounds good either way, im a novice bassist, been thumpin for bout 2 years now on my ernie ball stingray. u utilize chords and harmonics pretty well, something im still having trouble with. anyways good stuff man, keep it up.
I loved this song from the first time I heard it about 20 years ago. I realized Mr. Conners uses chords for the baseline during the chorus. That's insane. Very cool playing.
i've loved this song since i was a kid. until just now i never really paid the bass line much attention. theres so much more going on than i realized. this really is an excellent post
Jamersonshook is more than a bass/player/instructor. He is educating his audience on the finer points of music. No artist today makes music like this.
Hip Hop killed this type of vibe. Not to mention the damage that disco and sugary pop have done.
I must really applaud the English people's appreciation of music. Without the English soul music would have died a long time ago.
I agree wholeheartedly my brother. Europeans know real music and they've always had a appreciation of it. From Otis Redding and Percy Sledge to the jazz greats like Louis Armstrong and Dexter Gordon. Even Marvin Gaye exiled to Belgium when the IRS came after him. Much love to you fellow music enthusiast/critic/lover. We gotta keep the real thing alive. The NeoSoul cats (and kittens) have tried. Some people still dig real music.
I always wondered why Europeans shamelessly worship at the Blues/Funk/Soul alter while a lot of white Americans only appreciate it when covered by British bands in the form of heavy metal. American rock bands NEVER rocked like Zepplin and Sabbath who started as blues bands and Muddy Water fans. They take our music across the pond and rock harder than our white homies in the USA? They fuckin rule!
Such a beautiful line. I'm trying to learn as many tunes as possible at the moment. So, that inspired another choice. Thanks for that. And have you always played using the 'hook' thing?
True that Jamersonshook..... ya... tiz Freddie M. "Natural Collie" and I don't know its original recorded origin, but I own it on a compilation put out in the last 10 years called 500% Dynamite from some really righteous re-issuers... ya... Reggae... Scratch Perry... Jackie Mittoo... King Tubby....
oohhh.. i can´t believe it ...i have the reggae version recorded from radio but never knew who it was.i´ve been looking for this over 5 maybe 6 years...thanks melissabell29 "Freddie McGreggor" and now i know the song name too !!!i´m gon find it somewhere and buy it asap!!! thanks a lot

where are you based?..if you are local to london I may be able to pass some live work your way...i get asked from time to time for good bassists...i play 4 string (sometimes quite badly) its the best instrument in the world!`
Nice Job! Great song too! Look for a Michael Henderson song called "(I cant wait) until the rain comes". Limewire has it. "Treat me like a man" by the Dramatics w/Michael Henderson on Bass...give that a shot. Also any early Lonnie Liston Smith! Good Luck!
can u play at the concert yet by MH, and Roberta Flack? ya got skills, but don't forget to play live when ever you can, i always wanted to be a great studio bassist, ended up being a pro driver-limo,semi etc! no regrets but miss playing fulltime alot, still have skills mostly ol-school jams, but if you ever have a big band n need a ecellent driver/setup/cool advisor who uses no drugs look me up!
as a bass player of 2 years im still a beginner because ive been tributing rhcp and modern bands. ive been searching for old school bass riffs that might actually be 'complicated'

Gorgeous bassline and awesome job as usual :)
Michael's incredible (especially on Going places, my fav by him)
He has that dope Jamerson feel but he's been into jazz/funk/rock fusion so he's more modern.
Great vid,thanks for posting ;)
Peace out.

Well said itinsley2. Soul music like this is the lost art. Today's neo-soul crowd are on the journey, but they are far behind this kind of feeling.
