I know that you're probably busy but I just wanted to know if you had put out the blue prints or started making it yourself....you have some of the best ideas I've ever seen, so I want to do it right...
... I want it! This looks like it would be so awesome! Did you ever finish it? I can't seem to find any videos of this as a costume, which is why I'm asking. I really want to see a finished product! Most of the quadsuits I've found on youtube are kind of iffy. They don't always actually SEEM like quadrupeds as much as people walking on arms. This vid actually makes me want to have a costume like this, but I don't think I have the skills needed to even come close to making one ;_;
Hmm... You guys should substitute those front stilts for PVC piping instead. If you drill a hole a little ways in you could stick your arm in and have more support that way. Just an idea :) That's how most people make quad suits.
you could probably put the back at an angle and make a flexible type of ramp on the wearers back so it would be easier to see out of breath and so you don't have to go see a chiropractor!
What if you used sunset lenses (like in the werewolf mask) to allow the person to see through the chest? Lining the chest with 5 or six pairs of some form of plastic jewels/decorative scales allows you to blend them in as well, and to add more detail.
Did you ever finish this costume? I would love to see it! Also, I am apart of AZA through my job (I work at a Science Museum). I hope to see you at a conference!
@merrymonday Ooh, nifty! Yeah I skipped the last one 'cuz I wasn't presenting and a lot of the people are ...catty. Incredibly catty!! I'm a butterfly breeder--do you guys do living collections?
I have been working on a design for a Werewolf costume that is both Bipedal and Quadrupedal. Right now I am figuring out the mechanism and shock design for the front legs/arms. I am also looking at others digigrade stilts and trying to figure out a shock/spring system so that running on both Quad and Bi are possible, natural, comfortable, and fluid. The costume will take about 2 years to make, and will be used in a hoax/movie being made. Any ideas are welcome.
So Looking through all of the Comments, i'm suprised that nobody has thought of this idea for seeing yet... It might be difficult with the wearer's head at such a bad angle, but wouldn't an almost see through/one way view fabric (if the second one even exists) placed over a hole cut in the bottom Cone of the neck work for seeing? It might not be the Eye's of the costume's view, but its an idea, no?
Have you guys done any videos about this quad suit? I already know about the stilts from the werewolf costume and the dragon wings from another video of yours.
Ya know how I would use to see this costume? That milk carton and glass trick so it's like that suba spy glass thing, stick it in there and leave holes for the eyes and I can see and be like, "Woo! Elevated sight!" But seriously, this would be AWESOME, do to for my Halloween costume. <3
Dry ice is maybe not what you want for your costume. It will need to be replenished frequently (as in, every few minutes) in order to produce enough "smoke" for a good effect. Maybe use a sonic fog maker. Then your water container could have a more fitted cover to prevent water spillage than you could have if you needed access to it every few minutes to add more dry ice or more water to keep the dry ice active.
Perhaps, and this probably isnt the first such suggestion, im sure, that to be able to see as the dragon would, the wearer could construct some sort of parascope leading from their own eyes and up to see out of those of the dragon... again, just a suggestion and probably not a very good one considering its from yours truely
Dang, what'd I say? Hey, I don't judge- There was a Furrie-Con not too far from where I live a while back and I'm just saying they'd have one helluva time making one of these if they were into dragons and such. However, from what I saw it was mostly dogs, cats, and other more um... "furry" animals.
for those who don't know, furries are people that enjoy dressing up in costumes and persony themeselves with animals. They seem to be awesome people, though I have never met one D: They all group at conventions, but I've heard they don't like it if you don't show up with a costume. lol.
Holy crap! That's going to turn out awesome!! I can't believe how far you're going to go to make it as realistic as possible, I can't wait to see it finished! :)
This is pretty cool! I really dislike the front legs, but I guess thats the only way you can get them even with the back legs. Could you maybe stabilize them with the forearms, so where the hand is, is not a joint? Make it more like an elongated cat foreleg? I just hate the extra joint...
yeas i know critique time from me. and im probably pointing out stuff you know, but didnt do lke IN DEPTH in the video on.
so about the hang stilts, and you probably already know, but shouldnt you have a brace or something to keep the stilt erect and attached to your arm, so you dont end up like punching the ground when you try to keep yourself up?
and lastly, it seems as though it would be very hard to keep our ankles rigid enough to keep position of the digitigrade stilts.
so the first thing i noticed, and not that you dudnt think this out already, which you probably did, but
how does the person breath?
and also, if you put hindges on your dragons toes or wrist of whatever, i dont think is should have full range of motion like in the diagram. as it would be easy to keep stepping on them.
I do the professional bird people/zoo people conferences (I presented two posters at the last AZA and helped author a paper for this coming IAATE--YEAH BABY) But we've been playing with ideas for like a "learn to do cool crap" booth where people would sid'down and play with materials and techniques. But apparently you have to pay to do booths and stuff for these things? If we ever got invited to one it'd be coo, but there wasn't any interest when were in the Seattle area, now we're near NYC.
Yes, yes, you beautiful human being! Laughter reduces anxiety and stress-related illness! _If this video has prevented your future heart attack then we have done our job_.
Wow, that's amazing! Can't wait to see the finished product.
Actually enabling the wearer to see seems to be the biggest problem to me. If you were willing to take a pretty complicated route, you could set up a series of mirrors inside the neck, in the same fashion as a periscope. That might allow the wearer to see out of the general vicinity of the head.
oh my god! that is like the coolest thing ive ever seen! oh if im getting like this when isee a diagram im gonna explode when i see the finished costume!
O_O holy crap! -dies in amazement- This would be perfect for my dragon character for her full form! Though her body would be way more complicated considering she's supposed to be corpselike X_X
This design might actually work to make a quadraped zoid costume! Oh god..mental image of me as Mugen Liger walking around at a convention and getting mobbed like with anthro liger zero
man i dont why im a furry. cause all this stuff like this video. ill nevr in a life time be able to whare. now i really fill like 5th class furr. Cause i cant have this neet stuff im seeing everyday,. irl and on secondlife.

And i want to be around a more social furr cuminity. And meet more sence i havent got to meet manny yet.
If you really want a costume (you don't need a fursona to dress up) you should probably start a bit smaller than a quad fursuit anyway IMHO. Try making ears or a tail first.
