  • sounds great :D I realy want a Dulcimer...

  • I have a Tom Yocky, "Season" made in '06. Nice video!

  • Great stuff! That's about the only stringed instrument I don't own. Hearing you play it makes me want to head out and get one.:) Thanks!!

  • Wonderful!! I jst got given one of these and didn't really know what to do with it, but now i'm inspired!!!

  • What just happened? Did I get run over by a truck again? That was stunning.

  • I've not seen mountain Dulcimers played here in Ireland since the 1960's when there was an International folk music scene thriving in the pubs and clubs, and the same for autoharps ( But I play autoharp now) and anyone I've shown videos of either instrument to are entranced by the sounds of US music that they have never heard this side of the Atlantic, Keep on pickin' 'n' strummin' LE DEA GUI AS EIREANN !! BEST WISHES FROM IRELAND !

  • wow!!!! i'm kind of just learning how to play the dulcimer!!! what an inspiration you are!!

  • Why yes that is :D

  • Fabulous One of best performances of Wildwood Flower on dulcimer I've heard. 4 stars. wish I could do that!!

  • Full marks for your virutosity, and also for your dedication. This is a song of lost love, though, and I think it'd be better played as a dirge. Just my opinion, though.

  • Great stuff! Super!!! Thank you.

  • mastery

  • hey watch that speed when u flat pick ok but other than that, it was the greatest!!!!!!!

  • Yeah, lost my tempo a few areas in the picking section, glad you enjoyed it though!

  • Great Vid !

Who made the dulcimer that you are playing ?

It has a very beautiful sound.

  • Glad you liked it! Tom Yocky built my dulcimer, he does a great job, and I have been really happy with my dulcimer.

  • thats beautiful, i want to learn

  • Thank you, the best place to learn Wildwood Flower on dulcimer would probably be David Schnaufers video " Learning the Mountain Dulcimer ", its a hard song to learn, but very rewarding as well.

  • Wow! I love this! Outstanding!

  • Thanks, I have always enjoyed Wildwood Flower.

  • Nice ornamentations, real clean and crisp! Of course, your speed rocks. : )

  • Thanks, its defenetly one of my favorite songs to play faster! Thanks for commenting!

  • hey its ur cousz riley on seans pro good one agan!

  • Thanks couz.

    Hope to see you soon!

  • How did you get the cool percussive drumming effect at about :30? That's a neat effect! Were you picking in a unique way to get that effect, or were you using your fretting fingers to get that effect? I need to learn how to do that!

  • Thanks for watching!

For that effect, what you do is use a pickup in any song that does a lot of hammer ons and pull offs ( mainly in the 1-3rd fret, but the others work also ). Then the pickup also gets the drumming type sound as well as the melody sound.

  • Oh! You've got a soundboard pickup in that! My main dulcimer's pickup is a saddle pickup, which only picks up the strings and no other background sounds. Although I'm not keen on soundboard pickups for many reasons, this cool drumming effect is making them a bit more appealing. :) Thanks for the cool hint!

  • The only problem with them, is they pick up that noise when you don't want em to also, so over all, I think my next pickup will be a saddle, though I think that the none saddle pickup is great for songs like this.

  • Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

  • Nice Job young feller. I think I got dizzy there at the end me ears won't go that fast. hehe! :) :) :)

    Thanks

    Jack

  • Heh, thanks! Yea, it was actually a funny story about the fast part. What happened, is I made a mess up, and I thought to myself " I could end the song here, or play nice and fast." And of course I chose the latter : D. Thanks for commenting!

  • Thanks for posting! I enjoy all of your videos!

  • No problem, I enjoy posting them : D

  • Yet another great performance. Thanks for sharing your Dad's present.

  • Thanks for commenting! And I am glad that you enjoyed it.
