hello NuggetsOf Truths, i myself have a petter m type. these engines do indeed start on petrol and run on paraffin. im not sure about vegetable oil or sunflower oil because i have never tried these but what i do with mine is i start it on neat petrol and i run it on paraffin as normal but what i also do is put petrol into the paraffin at a ratio of 1 part petrol to 4 parts paraffin, the petrol makes the paraffin burn a bit cleaner and virtually eliminates repeated fouling of the sparking plug.
You can't run it on vegi oil, too thick and would require way to higher temperature in the head to cleanly burn the fuel. I would stick to petrol altough they can run parafin but they do need to have an extreemley high combustion chamber temperature to do this, run it with a little less water in the head and you'l be fine.
just to let you know how i am getting on with getting one of these i am cosidering a 1 1/2hp apple top at the moment so will be a nice winter project £400 do you think thats about right??
I love the sound it makes when it runs!.

I'm looking into getting one of these.
I believe they start on petrol and run on parafin.
Do you think you could run it on waste vegetable oil? or sunflower oil?
I'm trying to get something i can make my own fuel for.

It's a two-stroke? I thought they only made four-stroke gas engines.
