Everything is GORGEOUS! but at 2:11 why the bell player looks so uncertain...?? That spot is the best chance to literally show-off his "hitting" technique...
I was actually in attendance for this concert. December 22, 2010. It was phenomenal! To see both Gergiev and the Berliner Philharmoniker in the same venue was almost too much. The only thing that could've topped that experience, would be Karajan's ghost to appear and conduct along side Gergiev. Bravo!!!
I have watched it now the 7th time and could watch again ~30x. Everytime I find out something new. The perfect but uncertain looking cymbalist, the cellist at the last stand using the whole bow in 0,005s, outstanding musicians giving everything (i.e. Pahut, Braunstein, Ivic...). Great!
@tartinitrumpet I am a percussionist. Please explain to me what was so bad about them. From a percussionist's perspective that was perfectly executed. It had a broad, full, projecting sound. It slightly anticipated the downbeat using the slower response of the cymbals to make sure the overall was not shrill or jarring. This is the work of a professional.
This is an absolute joy of a piece and arrangement, especially if you can see it live. I recommend everyone should go see it if they ever have the chance. :)
Very nice video! Just one thing: the description on the video is wrong...It's Mussorgsky, and not Edvard Grieg! But I know you guys know that for sure! :) Keep up the good uploads :D

@PercussionPlease In the music, there is a flam for the timpanist. Hence why it sounds "early"
