Hi, I'm want to get a high end laptop, and want to know if I'm making the right decisions in terms of what's in it. It has 2 GTX 280m in SLI (I know, right?) and an Intel QX9300 2 Quad Core processor. I would also like Windows 7 Ultimate on it, but I don't know which bit to get (32 or 64) to be able to play all games (I'm planning on this being a gaming desktop replacement.). I don't know too much about bits, but with the processor and the OS, which bit should I get to play?

I looked at this for awhile myself. This is NOT a good gameing Laptop replacement under any circumstances. It has a decent non-upgradable graphics card. It wont be able to run higher end games because of the basic Video Card. It is a very great notebook all around though. Good battery life. Doesent get hot at all. It's great for watching videos and surfing the web though and the touchscreen will make any of your friends notebooks look like garbage. I have one and it really does. :)

I thought the film might have been horizontally flipped but then the start bar and icons would be backwards as well as the writing on his shirt.... I have the tx2500 and I quite like it... the battery probably isn't as good as a core 2 and it gets quite a bit hotter than a core 2 would but it plays HD video fine and works great as a tablet... just buy some spare batts off ebay for like 100 bucks each.

Major hardware problems with TX notebooks. Check out HP's own forums or Google "Pavilion TX Wireless Card Vanish". The notebooks overheat and sever the link to the wireless adapter and then the whole motherboard fails. Loads of people with the same problem. Doesn't that depend greatly on your personal preference? In my younger days I was a mac fan boy but I would never buy one now. If your gonna get a mac, you might as well spend those extra bucks on the Fujitsu T5010 or whatever it's called and get a real high end tablet pc with best in market screen. Since i'm a poor ass student despite working, I will prob get a HP tx* though. :)

but try using it out somewhere. lol, as far as stability goes, Vista is very stable, people just complain about certian programs not working with it, and just cause they can. You'll find that most XP program will run fine in Vista, I've been with it since late 2006.

I agree with the volume controls,

They should defo be on the side or something

So you can access them in either Tablet or Notebook form.

BUT don't forget..

You can always change the volume by going into your toolbar..

So it's not a total failure.

Pity about the 6-cell battery tho...

Bring on the 12 hour battery next year!!

For you guys yelling about placement of the volume controls, it comes with a slide out remote that you can use when it is in tablet mode or when the screen is rotated around. The quick play buttons are not needless because you use them for when watching a movie with the laptop OFF

Mine isn't here yet, but I would also imagine that you could probably control the volume from within the program simply by touching the screen to access the options.

speculation is that HP stopped offering the ZM-86 chip option on their website because of supply shortages - unfortunately for now it looks like your best bet is checking the resellers on ebay

I Just Bought this tablet pc for college.

i must say. is waaay better than my old Dell Pc. i must say that i really enjoy this laptop, im going to study digital graphic design, so i decide to buy a tablet pc for drawings, i have like 6 days with this tablet, and i just love it!. i can draw, easily here. and its like wacom tablet, and for what i know, wacom is a very sweet tablet company. so in my opinion this pc is waay good. :)
