Jason would stay dead if people left his body alone. Remember how he came back in Part 6? Tommy and his friend dug him up and accidentily brought him back to life. In Part 7, Tina tried to resurrect her dad in the lake but brought Jason back instead. In Part 8, if the boat's anchor didn't hit the electric cable, Jason would've never came back. So he isn't really immortal.

@ZombieCallum. i'd have to disagree witht the immortality. im a big fan of the friday the 13th franchise, and if you actually look at the first 3 sequels, you'll notice that he looks more human than the later ones. in the first 3 sequels, he was simply a man who was virtually impossible to kill, until tommy jarvis hacked the shit outta him. when you see part 6, the man is clearly dead, and it took lightning to bring him back. he's pretty much an intelligent zombie in the later ones.

as much as i hate to reference a bad film,jason fully regenerated after getting drowned in toxic wast. in freddy vs jason ,freddy aproached jason in the dream world, where he can go just like freddy, but unlike freddy jasons dead body can heal anything after long periods of time, so he always has the ability to ressurrect himself back into the living word once he is fully ready , as for the mothers love i say thats not it at all, theres a reason he kills and i say its the reason he stays alive.

well notice that in the first friday the 13th jasons mother said that she was jason, in jason goese to hell jason possesess everyone(which was made by the same director as the first), what im getting at is that jasons mother is possessed in the first one by jason himself, then the body of ms voorhess becomes useless after decapitiation, so jason reverts back to his original form,which has the ability to regenerate major damaged bits of his body (as stated in jason x).

there are 2 versions of the story,one is that he didnt drowned and lived in the woods as a hermit and the other based on jason goes to hell that jason was revived by his mom with the book of the dead(Evil Dead ).but i prefer the 1st choice,then when he lived in the wood he became a bulkier person,strong and resistant(machete on the shoulder,axe on the head)till he died in part 4 with a machete on the side of the head and multiples hits from the machete,then in part 6 he came back as a zombie.
