  • Not the same without all the bits you've cut out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Poor effort m8

  • Just remake it, and do it right this time.

  • Ive just watched the start and I already like whoever edited this they did exactly what I would do, I thought of editing the movies myself and wanted to check if someone else did something. indeed such as taking away that stupid battle droid chatter etc. Hope the rest is as good as what Ive seen so far

  • No sea monsters? That was one of the best bits!

  • I saw the 1st one and loved it- especially taking out the fish sene. I didnt get to see it all cause my pc ran out of batteries-(I have to download to watch) Then I saw the 2nd one w/ur comentary- and I was talking back in agreement at every point- (prob says I'm not the best critic)

Then I saw about 10 minutes of 3 and was so glad u cut the part where the chancelor says -"kill him" who is he the fantom mennace or some shit and ani wants to be in league with him of course.

    all in all great job

  • Not edited enough. "Are you an angel?"

  • Why did you leave the scene in where the queen thanks R2 D2? It's totally pointless and embarrassing.

  • That film is so nice, Anakin in kid is very nice xP

  • I love me some Star Wars..flaws and all.

  • This is much, MUCH better than the finished Lucas product, and I haven't even gotten past 20 minutes. Good job.

  • Con subtitulos no hubiese quedado mal. Good movie, thanks for the aport men!

  • fuck u I LOVE JAR JAR BINS FUCK U SOME STAR WARS FANS U ARE

  • thumbs up it darth maul looks like the demon from insidious!!

  • Not much of a difference just seems like its been cut for pacing. Needs voice dubs for retarded sounding aliens.

  • @ZeRtProductions Don't bother with the prequels, or an edit, start with the original movies like I did at your age. Episode IV, A New Hope and go on from there.

  • WOW! I'm very impressed. I've been wanting to see this for a while now and finally took the time. Much more enjoyable and I was able to actually get into it just a bit. Of course there are a few of the uncuttable Jake Lloyd scenes that are still miserable, but other things like, Jar Jar, were much more tolerable.

  • Worst part of this movie is the medi chloreans, made no sense and was unnessessary

  • Wow, the amount of work that must have gone into this is baffling. A personal Thank You for making the prequels a more enjoyable experience to watch.

  • 322 @33:22

"I had a Dream I was a Jedi, I came back here and freed all the slaves" - Anakin Skywalker

  • Why do Star Wars fans complain about Jar Jar Binks so much? He was put in there for comic relief and for there to be a variety of character archetypes. The interaction between different character archetypes is largely what made the old trilogy so good. Sure he is a freakin wierd alien, but its star wars

  • @73HNiNJ4 Poop, fart, and clumsiness jokes, an annoying voice, oblivious stupidity. It's all in good fun in small doses, but there is such a thing as too much. We need a comic relief yes, but Jar Jar is far too distracting to accomplish this. With that said, some fans need to take a break from the Jar Jar hate. It's been 12 years.

  • @StarWarsEdits

Never stop hating, lest we forget.

  • @73HNiNJ4 Niggers hated him because he spoke ebonics.

  • @73HNiNJ4 Because he's an example of Bad Character Development. Yoda could very well have gone the same way, except for more care and attention paid to detail..

  • @73HNiNJ4 Its all his fault that the 3rd movie happened

  • I'm surprised that you left the medichlorians scenes in there. Ginny talks about how he senses the force in him, but then lucas explained it for some arbitrary reason.. it's never talked about again, and it never comes up in the other prequels. it could be completely removed, and is totally unecessary.

  • @Craftybonds It comes up again once in Sith when Palps talks to Anakin, but I agree it's completely unnecessary. This edit was made before AOTC, so the editor speculated that midichlorians might be an important plot point, perhaps in providing a biological basis for cloning Jedi. I don't mind the idea as much as others do. I can appreciate a little science in the mystery of the Force.

  • Heres a number of questions lucas never awnsered. How did the droid know they are jedi? Why did they not just poison the tea? How did the jedi know what type of gas it was, did they happen to get a good sniff of the toxic DEADLY gas? Why did the droids open the door to the room filled with deadly gas? This list of goes on there are so many plot holes in the script for this movie, alot of it lacks any form of logic.

  • @nikushim666 1. A protocol droid ought to recognize a Jedi if its job is protocol. 2. The tea was already served before they decided to kill the Jedi. 3. Many toxic gases have a smell and don't kill immediately. They probably used what was on hand. 4. Droids don't breathe. 99.9% of people who first watched this movie wouldn't even think about this, nor should they. The flaws with this movie are far more deep and fundamental than these nitpicks.

  • why is it edited?i dont get it..

  • Someone said it best on here. I love star wars for what it is, not what it isn't. All 6 films are great sure each has it's flaws but what film doesn't? On a side note, these are some very nice edits. You chopped what i felt were some of the films weaker points.

  • @d4nkam I agree. I feel the prequels are more flawed than the originals, hence the need for these edits, but I appreciate their underlying story. It must have taken a great deal of love for Star Wars to undertake this editing effort.

  • really if you think about it..... he was doing just fine... untill he started looking back on things.

  • Wait, but in 1:41, didn't Darth Maul have the higher ground? Didn't Obi Wan himself later predict doom to Anakim if Anakim tryed to jump against Obi Wan when Obi Wan had the higher ground?

Weren't Obi Wan already hanging for his life before in this fight?

This movie went out at the same year as the Matrix. It blew. It blows less with the very nice edits (yeah, good work) but it just can't be fixed, it is all wrong.

  • @Voyksed Darth Maul was arrogant and sure of victory. Obi-Wan used a surprise move. Later, when Anakin and Obi-Wan fought, Obi-Wan already knew the move (he used it himself) and quite possibly, had taught Anakin it and how to counter it. So by saying "It's over, I have the high ground" he was saying "We both know you can't win from here". However Anakin, in his dark side arrogance thought himself more powerful than that and still tried it. Obi-Wan showed him his error.

  • @Voyksed But see, Obi-Wan learned. Obi wan jumped right over Maul. When Anakin jumped over Obi, Obi swung up. Darth Maul didn't. Obi-Wan learned from his experience.

  • @ZeRtProductions no.

The non edited version you buy the DVD.

  • Love it how Qui gon cant sence anything and yet he knows exacly what kind of gas they relese into the chamber without smelling it first

  • Imagine how much different this movie would be if they went make to Naboo and there were droids slaughtering citizens, as well if there were mass graves. How much darker it would make this movie.

  • exSUEEEZZZEE me

  • @SoundsOfAndromeda Force speed or sprint is seen in many star wars video games. I'm assuming by "franchise" you mean books, games etc.

  • Also... When did 'tan-brown' become the terrifying color? The empire was intimidating partly because of its use of colors. Sinister white-on-black, pure black in the case of vader, even their normal surfaces were gray... Red in the case of the honor guards... It's like they're TRYING to make the trade federation bland as possible. And seriously, a TRADE federation is the enemy? I get that it's a play on an evil corporation, but the way they play it reeks of bumbling economics departments.

  • A main issue is that the villains are so bumbling. Sidious is a nice presence, but he's not the one running opperations. It doesn't matter if an evil mastermind is out there if his idiot flunkies are in charge of the details. The viceroy and friends aren't intimidating at all. Maul as a silent killer is almost inherrently uninteresting and since he can't beat two jedi - he's barely as scary as Droidekas. The main characters aren't great, Amidala's the best, but the villains... *moans*.

  • Why keep on talking about India , muslim , islam, what are you so proud about Muslim? Or Christian. Greek, or Hebrew? God is not exist you got that? Maybe alien god . That's what ancient saw it god coming from the sky bright light machine. Stop talk about god . God did not exist.

  • I think you have an hour and 54 minutes left to edit out.

  • @AGameProductions You're an idiot.

  • Has Lucas made any comments regarding this? I am thinking you either have nothing to lose or you have really big testes.

  • Needs more Samuel L. Jackson

Hell, throw in some Nick Cage

    Whatever.

  • still way too much Jar Jar

  • Sorry fanboys, you can't just cut out Jar Jar completely from the story. He is apart of the story...and a fairly big part at that.

...Although cutting out the "WESA GOIN HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOME!!!" would've been nice.

Not the worse line, but does kinda kill the intensity of the Queen returning to Naboo and whatnot

  • Serious question: why couldn't Naboo've been Alderaan?

  • @martymcfett Within the existing story, we need a planet close to Tatooine to repair the leaking hyperdrive. From what we know from the original Star Wars, Alderaan doesn't seem like a close neighbor. It's not a convincing reason, but there you go. I agree it's a missed opportunity.

  • @StarWarsEdits The original trilogy itself doesn't say that Alderaan is in the core worlds, the Expanded Universe stuff does. It could've been retconned somehow like almost every other inconsistency in Star Wars.

  • @martymcfett Also within the existing story, Alderaan is a much 'stronger' planet at this time period than Naboo, with its own fleets and stuff, as I don't believe Alderaan had yet turned to its pacifist/unarmed version.

  • @ChromeHaw Did alderaan ever become pacifist? I thought they just declared themselves to be independent of the republic.

  • @Kosorovich When exactly were they ever militant? As far as we know, Alderaan had always been peaceful. Kind of like Gandhi's India against the empire.

  • @martymcfett As far as we know, Alderaan is an indpendent system. It is in no way 'peaceful': alderaan has an army. They even have hidden troops ready to combat any invasion and as good defences as any planet, they're just not on the offensive. This can be seen in one of the KOTOR trailers. While out of date, Alderaan has made no policy moves that suggests this situation would have changed. Apart from anything else, Alderaan left the republic because they felt undefended.

  • @Kosorovich Left? In the Clone War, they were Republic loyalists. They tried to leave the empire.

  • @ChromeHaw Right, so why couldn't there've been some epic fleet battle btwn Alderaan and the Trade Federation? And, if the story took place on Alderaan rather than on Naboo, it would explain why the Rebel Alliance would later not have to deal with the gungan race ever.

  • @martymcfett In the edit or in the actual script? In the script, we have bigger fish to fry. Like the characters, plot, villians particularly... Etc. But yes, that would have been an improvement to use the existing elements to anchor the story. Imagine how much worse it would have been if they hadn't even used tatooine. As for the edit, too much dialogue says " Naboo" and I think only once do they say Alderaan so...

  • Put back in "negotiations were short" dialogue btwn Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, still a little too much Jar-Jar, showing them enter the water in the swamp was always one of my favorite parts, could've just edited out Jar Jar squealing as they went in the swamp, every movie except Sith has a monster in it, and put back in "negotiations seemed to have failed."

  • Come on, "the negotiations were short" line was actually pretty funny.

  • Wait. Still Jar Jar, a pod race, and wimpy scenes where the Jedis still take Anikan seriously. Never mind. Should be a lot darker and nostalgic for my taste. Maybe more hints at Darth Vader or maybe a little bit of a future villain like Grevious or Dooku.

  • I'd prefer it had started at 5:15 then have the scene prolonged for anticipation to what's happening. Anyway, I like it so far :)

  • oh jar jar, everyone hates you but me

  • This 'edit' barely scratches the surface. There's like 30 minutes worth of crap that could've been cut still. I don't get how someone could go "Hey filmmaker, you blew it. Let me show you how it should've been done." Then go and change essentially nothing. Smh

  • great job, thanks, well done!!

  • Lucas should have taken the advice of the old woman @2900 and filmed it inside a studio and not in 100+ degrees.

  • No matter JarJar Stinks, the plot is weak. I believe that Lucas thought that since fans were eagerly anticipating the story of Vader, that anything he puts together will be good enough for us.

    He was wrong.

  • I thought that you should have at least edited as much of Jar Jar Stinks as possible. For example when the Jedi go to the underwater city, as soon as they get into the bubble, skip over the non sense dialogue and the tasing, and cut to the dialogue with the emperor.

  • No amount of editing could ever make this movie worth watching lol

  • HU ?

  • very good english, you say: I didnt edit this video, not i did not do this edit!

  • Still shit, but somewhat more tolerable for a laugh anyway...

  • Am I the only one who thinks that the Yoda in this episode looks like Mark Hamill??

  • its sad that hes mom dosen't or ever will know that hes gonna become the sith LORD and destroyer.. of The republic..

  • crapy quality..

  • Im born in 93 and I'm not stupid....nice one !

  • Comment removed

  • lol the dialogue is changed

  • The worst scene in the entire film is still in this version: The Jedi can't escape the battle droid laser blasts at 6:55 so they just pull a Deus Ex Machina and have the pair race off-screen with some super Force power that is never scene again in the rest of the film or franchise.

  • @SoundsOfAndromeda

    THANK YOU!

All this time my friends were like... Nah, it's just force sprint...

To which my response was... FORCE... SPRINT!?

  • @EchoKrome force sprint is in most of the games

  • @EchoKrome Yea, it's force speed. It's in the Jedi Knight games. First seen in Dark Forces II in 1997 (2 years before Episode 1 , if you didn't know). :D

  • @SoundsOfAndromeda It's worse than that. Not only does this claim that two simple droidekas are more than the match of a Jedi Master (and one of the stronger ones in the order apparently) and his prodigy... Which should make the trade federation unstoppable in the first place if they can mint those ... The way the jedi escape with that force-quickness could easily have been used to cut the droidekas down as they rolled toward them in the first place - before their shields were up.

  • @SoundsOfAndromeda they put that force power in the star wars games and many more

  • @SoundsOfAndromeda How would you get rid of it? It's hardly the worst scene, but I wouldn't mind getting rid of it were it possible.

  • @SoundsOfAndromeda nah the worst scene is when palpatine kills three jedi in a row in the most slow, cheesy way ever. in ep 3

  • @SoundsOfAndromeda i never understood that. ever. as soon as i saw that i knew we were in for a shitfest of a movie.

  • @SoundsOfAndromeda I believe that was the introduction of Force Speed, which is used in a lot of the games. Deus ex machina that it is here, it's become pretty widely used since

  • this version is SO much better well done chris

  • "Ex-squeeze me" is still in there? Movie still sucks.

After Georgie dies, someone needs to write a better version of the Star Wars stories. Viva la remakes!

  • "They must be dead by now... Destroy what's left of them."

    WHAT?

  • XtcTalentX yeh i do agree with u, no doubt i love the original trilogy more than the prequels and i hate Jar Jar, but we did get Darth Maul, Mace Windu and Jango Fett from the prequels so yeh all the Star Wars films are good

  • am i the only one who likes all the star wars? 1,2 and 3 were different but still good! and it seems im the only one who think the love stuff between anakin and padme in 2 and 3 is good.. anyone with me orrrrr?

  • @XtcTalentX No, they were not "still good". Not by a long shot.

  • @SoundsOfAndromeda dry your eyes mate

  • @XtcTalentX

No one is with you because you're very very wrong.

And also probably born in the mid 90s.

  • @sodin6 yeah im born in 93 but im not stupid, i know the difference between a good movie and a bad one, i understand that a new hope was phenomenal when it came out but that doesnt change the fact that the prequels interest me to.

  • whats is the difference????

i watch it the first time

  • Boy did they fuck up the saga with this movie.

  • How do you upload a nearly two hour file to You Tube?!

  • what about the scene with the big fish?

  • It's also interesting that Anakin appears at the magic 25 min mark in this edit, which in a decent film the first major event would occur.

  • 'I will make it legal' - so practically in the first sentence of Palpatine dialogue George gives the entire game away.

  • About seven minutes in and I already feel the movie's length. Seriously in the same amount of time the original Star Wars already had 3po and r2 on tatooine. Gaps in logic and clunky dialogue were present in the original too but it had a narrative flow to it that episode one utterly lacked.

  • i want my money back, these prequels sucked

  • While this is by far a superior version, it's still boring

  • @528Pie so you don´t like star wars ;(

  • This was the first Star Wars movie I ever saw, I was 4 when i saw it and I fell in love... As did every child when the original came out in '77. Yeah it's not brilliantly amazing, it has its weak points, but it has its strong points too! Jar Jar is annoying, but not that annoying! People seem to forget the fact that we were all children once, we all wanted to be Luke Skywalker, only we couldn't, because it's science fiction, and always will be! Love Star Wars for what it is, Not what it isn't!

  • So, Gungans have evergy balls, underwater cities, epic submarines, energy sheilds, but nothing better than catapults??

  • wud U upload Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope ????

    epi V n VI too ???

  • can U upload old school 2003 full movie ???

  • My opinion, Darth Maul was a cool character, but I think the reason he wasn't taken seriously is because he wasn't given enough screen time. He was almost a minor character and only said like 10 words throughout the whole film. They should've made HIM the main villian of the film and not Viceroy Gunray.

  • Lol @1:37:06 droid got knocked the fuck out by its own team lmfao.

  • But this version is inarguably more entertaining and less grating than the original. Even with all my conniptions in mind, I can't help but prefer The Phantom Edit over The Phantom Menace.

  • I was predisposed to like this project, as I can commiserate with the sentiments of most Star Wars fans that hold an unfavorable view towards the second trilogy. However, I can't help but notice that a lot of the scenes feel prematurely truncated. I suppose that's to be expect, given the virtue of this endeavor. Even though I couldn't stand the garrulous exposition, I can't help but feel that the editor, in his cavalier removal, crafted a more nonsensical version that the original.

  • @theblakelvis I think this edit was meant to appeal to those who have already seen the original and know what is missing, ergo things edited out would still be remembered story-wise. But I do see how this edit can create gaps that, if viewed as if this was the original movie, could create confusion. It's a bit ironic, since the purpose of this edit was to make the movie stronger and in a normal situation, a nonsensical movie wouldn't be highly appraised anyway.

  • Better for the fact that there's less Jar Jar & no dialogue from the battle droids, but there's only so much you can do with a new edit. There are problems in the storyline that you can't edit out.

  • You cannot even roll this turn in glitter!!!

  • R2D2 has rescued all the other episodes!

  • Comment removed

  • I love claims on fan edits and by fan boys: "This is the way it should had been done." well, it's not. There is a reason why you are not head CEO of a billion dollar franchise, there is a reason why you don't and never will work for a major studio. You are talentless hacks. If you put as much effort as you do hating, criticizing, and re-working someone else's SUCCESS in creating your own original stories and original films...forget it. You'd still fail miserably...

  • @luis6079 calling episode 1 a success in any respect barring monetary is a joke.

  • I can still see & hear Jar Jar - the editing must continue.

  • This edit is much better. The movie still sucks as a star wars movie because there's only so much you can edit, but at least now I can understand the shifty politics that Palpatine uses to come to power- Which is actually kind of cleverly written... now that all the bullshit has been cut away.

  • It's been 18 months and it still hurts!

  • jar jar is stil insufferable.

  • uhm, what's the differance exactly?

  • @Randyolsson The commentary track is a good watch for those of us who haven't analyzed this movie to death.

  • @StarWarsEdits yeah but what's the damn difference?

  • @StarWarsEdits Its been so long since I saw the original cut I really see the differences, but I trust they are there.

  • 05:39....what happened to your faaaaace!?

  • @Zorg2006, This comment sooooooooo funny......still makes me laugh!!

  • you get a poo, and you cut about 1 quarter and throw it away, you are still left with 3 quarters of the original turd.

  • 1.30:54 - "We'll handle this." Err? Are you an idiot?

  • Jar Jar Binks es un personaje DETESTABLE, lo repudio y lo vuelvo a repudiar.

Jar Jar Binks is a character I hate, I repudiate and disavow him again.

  • even impression is better than when i saw it first time, it is still a movie for anakin-aged kids, which i believe was lucas's intent for marketing his saga for new generation of moviegoers, and it came for a cost of losing respect of fans of his original three sw parts. lucas keeps tweaking his movies and fans are driving mad and spending more money to run his business. show must go on. :)

  • Good work, but it is still boring

  • @NoNamium I agree. Improvement, but it's still an occasional mess and I still feel things start to drag halfway in the Coruscant scenes (y'know that feeling you're getting sleepy until Jar Jar screams "WESA GOIN HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOME" abruptly just to wake you up for the third act?).

  • Why couldn't they go home, scrape up a few bucks and go back to buy Shmi Skywalker?

  • Another thing; whenever a lightsaber was activated in the original trilogy, it was a big event. Here, they turn it on and off so often it might as well be a dangerous flashlight.

  • The only thing that can save this movie is for it to be REMADE. As in, REDO IT COMPLETELY. Create a new Episode I, with Lucas making it, and strike the old one from the canon. No Jar-Jar Binks, no 12 year old boy saving the day, and none of the other crap. They can change dozens of things about it and still leave events intact for movies II and III without the least bit of disruption. Hell, Jar-Jar Binks barely appears in Revenge of the Sith.

  • Considering the material you had to work with, a good job there..

  • Great work!! you transform a 3/10 movie into a solid 6/10

  • After all the bashfest reviews I saw of this movie, I still consider it the best of the prequels. Well at least this edit of it. I like kid Anakin more than the asshole that is Anakin in Episodes 2 and 3.

And this has at least one action set piece I care about: The pod race. Visually it holds up best of all the action scenes in the prequels.

  • there is still 1 hour & 55 minutes to be cut out from this "film" ;)

  • hmmm, there's a few cuts made that I would've kept, and some I would've outright cut out. Mostly anything of what Jar Jar says can be cut (save for when he's needed sadly) and the shortening of scenes without him OR Anakin (like when Qui-Gon was explaining to the Naboo who they were or when we find out it's R2 (despite us knowing who it is, it's for story), I'dve kept those.

  • i dont think so. You cant polish a turd

  • Gah. I can't make it past 5 minutes, even though I -know- this is better than the theatrical release. It's just tragic. :(

  • this is absolute garbage and a waste of time. you can never change history with your gay edit. get a life

  • @carollshelby500 If you're completely opposed to this video, then why did you even bother watching it in the first place?

  • Even when lord Sidious said to do something, twice: ''Wipe them out, all of them''

They still don't do it. Why were they taking prisoners of the primitives instead of executing them??? Cuz this was a movie for babies.

  • If I ever went to a convention that the Anakin actor kid was at, I'd ask him if he actually heard the line: ''the boy is dangerous'' being within ear distance while they were filming.

  • I'm only 10minutes in but i seriously think the throne room should be extended to the full length. Cutting it when Sio Bibble says 'A communications breakdown can only mean one thing blah blah' does injustice to the portrayal of the queen. This scene shows us the pacifistic nature of Amidala and her relative naivety in regards to threats. I hope you'll consider re-instating it.

  • That's a nice minimalistic edit, I could watch a harsher cut now. But still need to cleanse my mind with some Plinkett.

  • btw- it's amazing how much of an improvement this edit is- to the editor- thanks for your work, and to you- thanks for sharing it with us!!!

  • Unfortunate that that "midiclorian" and virgin birth crap couldn't get cut.

    :-(

I understand why you couldn't though. This whole movie was a giant complicated turd that editing just can't fix.

You can't make the characters interesting or give them clear motivations with simple editing either....

  • you can't polish a turd

  • really impressed by this. thinking about queuing this up alongside the DVD and doing a scene by scene comparison.

I wanna know WHY this was such an improvement.

  • Thank you for attempting to make this movie less of a cartoon and CGI fest! The fans appreciate your efforts.

  • Why is it you can buy SW , ESB , ROTJ and phantom menace soundtrack on Vinyl yet attack of the clones and revenge of the Sith WAS NEVER MADE AVAILABLE ON VINYL ... I would be happy if a label were to release them on Vinyl PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw this film twice on the opening day .. Jar jar and the serious amount of CGI graphics ruined this film and the next two that followed , Also there is glaring flaws in the storyline especially in these efforts .. because it just doesn't gel .. and in the Original Vader / Anaakin doesn't know he had children yet in the prequel's The Emperor knew whilst at no point in the Original 3 films there is no mention of this what so ever ..

  • It still has Gungans and Little Ani. Those two factors alone make the film still garbage. I commend you on your work though. It may still be a piece of crap, but you can't turn crap into gold unless you're Edward Elric.

  • The pod race is fucking awesome

    the rest is shit

    good edit

  • 7:05 de gonna the ventilatuh shaf

  • I grew up, before these prequels. I enjoyed the sequels, much better. Thanks for the free SW movie.

  • 07:05 OMG! What's Wrong With Your Face?!

  • Digital Yoda! Add Yoda!
