I think I saw Monstar on an episode of the 2011 Thundercats series. I saw his transformation on one of Mum-ra's monitors when he and the animals invaded Third Earth to steal the gem that would become a part of the Sword of Omens.

I used to hate this series when I was a kid cause you don't need wings in space, and one of them got exposed skin in space. and silver is a crappy metal to make armors. But when I look at it now it feels kind of cool and nostalgic.

also Iron man suit isn't made of iron, so I guess silver hawks aren't exactly made of silver either.

I used to love this cartoon back in '86-'87. For the toys, I had Quicksilver, Monstar, and Buzzsaw. I'm 36 years old now. I wish I could be a kid again. The 80s were so much fun. The kids today have no idea how great the 80s were.

I got both DVD box sets, all 65 episodes! I never get tired of watching the original series but I'm super-excited to see what the animators responsible for the Thundercats reboot do for Silverhawks. I'm especially anxious to see what backstories Monstar & the members of his mob are given.

Besides Silverhawks, I grew up with Thundercats, Comic Strip (Tiger Sharks, Camp Mini Monsters, Karate Kat and Street Frogs), Kissy Fur, Captain Planet, M.A.S.K., Visionaries, Pole Position, C.O.P.S., Jaycee and the Wheeled Warriors- if there's one thing I am also thankful about, is that these cartoons helped me with my English. ( I'm from outside the US)

Looking back, I realize I had a very wonderful childhood. Although I am thankful for the technology there is today because I get to see these cartoons, nothing beats this decade- the 80s. Considering the animation Silverhawks has, it is far ahead of its time. Futuristic settings with great story lines and great characters like this are no longer existing in this decade. The one thing I am thankful for is that cartoons in the 80s were original while this decade is now running out of new ideas.

I agree that the Silverhawks series is awesome, especially because the Thundercats had an excellent rating. I really would have wish that the Silverhawks characters and story got developed like the Thundercats. Giving a background story as of how Mumra came into being. Which in the comics they explained it … the same could have been for Monstar and so on. How did Stargazer started in his beginnings etc.

The animation in this intro is stylish and pristine, but the cartoon itself is much stiffer. Just like Thundercats. It was customary in the 80s to have a stylish opening animated by Japan that misleads the audience into thinking the show itself will look just as amazing. XD Still, that's a damn catchy tune!

I believe Thudnercats itself was entirely Japanese animated.

As for the quality difference, it had nothing to do with "fooling" anyone. It was a natural consequence of doing a daily syndicated show.

Why don't you try doing a show of this intro's quality by hand 5 days a week?

Even if its inbetweening was shipped overseas as was and is common for most American TV animation, it was very much an American cartoon. :) And don't get defensive. I wasn't being entirely serious. That was merely the impression I got over and over again when I was a child and saw the staggering difference in quality between the shows and the intros. ;)
