If you change your display settings on the PS3 it make a world of a difference (depending on the TV, it could also make only a slight difference, though). Then they're much closer in quality. Without it, Xbox looks better

I have to edit that last post. I meant to say that when it comes to MULTI-PLATFORM games on the two systems, there is no difference in graphical quality. The only difference? PS3 never drops frames below 30 fps. XB360 will, but not by much. Again I say, there is no real difference. It's all about preference. I PREFER PS3 because of blu-ray and it's hardware, and the large hard drive sizes. I used to have a 360 and loved it. Until it broke down on me. Twice. Preference, people.
Anyone who tries claiming that the two consoles look any different when it comes to multi-platform games must either be high out of their minds, or just too stupid to do any actual research on the matter. When it comes to PS3 and XB360, there is NO difference in graphical quality. PS3's HDMI super white and RGB color enhancement just isnt enabled. However you can notice a difference in texture resolution and lighting and that has to do with the different subrendering systems. PS3 uses OpenGL and 360 uses DirectX 9. DirectX is a far better system.

Step 2 set the RGB colour system to FULL dumbass', not limited. But wait! We're not done yet! Step 3, turn ON Super-White. Then you'll see that the PS3 makes the 360 look like a fail for graphics. Do a true comparison with those settings side by side.

Even if you set an HDMI to the 360 you'll never play games in 1080p with the 360 because of the type of disc they use for gaming. And those discs don't hold nearly as much memory compared to blu ray. @2coolsaif Ah correction, certain DVD-ROM's can go up to 1080p, but for the most part 360 only uses the 720p. But either way, blu ray will always be better for graphics as well as memory. An example'd be Metal Gear Solid 4. They were going to make that for the 360 but decided not to because the full game would have to be put onto about 5 DVD-ROM's whearas the 1 blu ray disc was able to take on the full capacity of the game.

Since it doesnt say 1080p, then that means that the game will just be a black screen if you have your HDTV/PS3 set to 1080p. I realize that what I just said may be confusing, but in plain terms: PS3 and X360 renders the game at its optimized resolution, and is then stretched to a 16:9 aspect ratio so that it fits on the whole screen. @WorldIndustries555 Ok fair enough. However, if in the little flat screen tv symbol it says 1080p thats the full true resolution. If its listed on the side that's when it upscales. Most of my games actually say "1080p" in the tv symbol though. Games usually say 720p in the tv symbol. When it says the 720p in the tv, often times it'll say beside it what else is supported, which usually goes up to 1080p in PS3's case. That's why there's not a black screen if you play it on 1080p, it supports it.

@rishishiv Its either your tv, Hdmi cable, or your settings for HDMI. Not all tv's can go up to 1080p, you should check that first. If not that, try a new HDMI. When you plug it into the PS3 does the screen go blank momentarily before giving you a prompt to set it to 1080p? If it does click yes, from there go into HDMI settings and make sure you have it set to 1080p as well (or just right away make sure its set to use those settings). I think sometimes its only set for 1080i. I hope that helps.

Who cares about the freaking graphics? It is a video game. I you want to enjoy a game, it does not matter on the system. All consoles are equal, they just have different games and different ways to develop them. i bought PS3 because i wanted a console made with decently reliable hardware and with innovative architecture. I dont care about game ports so much, because thankfully on PS3 there is a discrete number of very good original titles.

Our online servers, are shit, Compared to the 360 servers, PS3 Has a less chance of getting overheated, whilst 360 gets more rings than Sonic, They both have their faults, and you make regret getting them. Alright, clearly your all dumb, so I'll explain it nice and simple for you. PS3 has BETTER graphics, I'll explain why . Get the HDMI cable, set it to go on 1080p, step 1. Step 2 set the RGB colour system to FULL dumbass', not limited. But wait! We're not done yet! Step 3, turn ON Super-White. Then you'll see that the PS3 makes the 360 look like a fail for graphics. Do a true comparison with those settings side by side.
PS3 & 360 = BADASS in their own right.

@2coolsaif PS3's graphics are way better than the 360's by far. Isn't True HD great? 360 only goes up to 720p, PS3 goes up to 1080p. Right off the bat its instantly better. To me, you get way more for your buck with the PS3 compared to 360. But that's just my opinion. I like both systems either way.

@2coolsaif Wow, way to be an asshole, your cool now. And no its not dumb fuck. 360's games are put on fucking DVD-ROM while PS3 uses blu ray discs. The full graphics of DVD-ROM discs are 720p you fail and a half. Blu ray goes up to True HD 1080p. My god your a dumbass. Even if you set an HDMI to the 360 you'll never play games in 1080p with the 360 because of the type of disc they use for gaming. And those discs don't hold nearly as much memory compared to blu ray. So stop embarassing yourself.

@2coolsaif Ah correction, certain DVD-ROM's can go up to 1080p, but for the most part 360 only uses the 720p. But either way, blu ray will always be better for graphics as well as memory. An example'd be Metal Gear Solid 4. They were going to make that for the 360 but decided not to because the full game would have to be put onto about 5 DVD-ROM's whearas the 1 blu ray disc was able to take on the full capacity of the game.

@2coolsaif l actually don't think I've ever seen a more stupid fanboy. AC Brotherhood, Final Fanstasy 13, Gran Turismo 5, and many other games come in 1080p for the PS3 you uneducated idiot. If you really have both systems, which I think is pure bullshit, then you'd see on the back of the game cases what the graphics actually go up to (in the little red box, not hard to miss) then you'd see that they go up to either 720p or 1080p for the PS3 and 360. Your just making yourself look like a fool.

@2coolsaif Your isolating one game and series. In general games are usually made for 720p. And why are you limiting games to only EA? It depends on how they want to make the game and who the creators of the games are if they're gonna make games in 1080p or 720p. Ah, and I hope you realize that 360 tries to "upscale" the graphics from 720p to 1080p while PS3 doesn't try. It does what it says it does. In other words, the graphics are actually fake and microsoft is trying to decieve and trick you.

@ZGirlGamer Actually, those PS3 games you just listed only plays up to 720p resolution. Most PS3/X360 games are in 720p resolution. Only a few games can actually be played in 1080p.

And actually, almost every single one of my games except for 2 or 3 say "Supported HD video output 480i/480p/720p/1080i/ 1080p" So in other words, they all go up to 1080p. If you don't believe me, go look on the back of a few games like Borderlands, Asassin's Creed 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, and even Sims 3 all for PS3 and it'll prove my point.

@ZGirlGamer Nope, they all upscale to 1080p. Its not true HD.Borderlands play at 1280x720, Assassins Creed 2 plays at 1280x720/960x720, and MGS4 plays at 1024x768. They play at these resolutions because of the older hardware in the consoles. The developers try to optimize their games to play atleast 30 frames per second.

PS3 is the only system that they make that almost every game is supported to go up to 1080p (as long as the person has an HDTV that supports 1080p and an HDMI cable, that's the only thing). Sony makes sure that whatever is said on the game case is how the game actually is. Hense why every single PS3 game is put on Blu ray while the 360 isn't. Therefore the microsoft's 360 doesn't have a choice but to upscale since it uses DVD-ROMS.

@ZGirlGamer Nope. The back of the box shows what resolutions are supported if you own a HDTV. Lets say that the box says "HDTV 720p/1080i". Since it doesnt say 1080p, then that means that the game will just be a black screen if you have your HDTV/PS3 set to 1080p. I realize that what I just said may be confusing, but in plain terms: PS3 and X360 renders the game at its optimized resolution, and is then stretched to a 16:9 aspect ratio so that it fits on the whole screen. Anamorphic widescreen.

@WorldIndustries555 Ok fair enough. However, if in the little flat screen tv symbol it says 1080p thats the full true resolution. If its listed on the side that's when it upscales. Most of my games actually say "1080p" in the tv symbol though. Games usually say 720p in the tv symbol. When it says the 720p in the tv, often times it'll say beside it what else is supported, which usually goes up to 1080p in PS3's case. That's why there's not a black screen if you play it on 1080p, it supports it.

@WorldIndustries555 You have a good point that I actually forgot about how it stretches, so its not confusing don't worry lol. As long as the TV and game support it it's able to make it go up to 1080p and anything lower ( I have my PS3 set up for optimum graphics, sound and even made it so there's no lag at all) But you have to have the right TV and the HDMI or it doesn't do it. I don't wanna argue though if you have more to say. So I'm just gonna agree to disagree, fair enough?

@Umbra360 No, buddy, the HDMI cable makes everything (if its able to go up to the resolution) to 1080p. Granted the TV you have and the game goes up to 1080p. Trust me, I know. I have my PS3 set for optimum graphics, sound, and it even filters out lag. All thanks to the HDMI. You can't watch a Blu ray movie at its best without an HDMI either.

1.Vga
2.Dvi
3.Hdmi
Its pretty much impossible to push more then 720p through a old 1.2 hdmi output. Its like pushing more water then a pipe can handle. Do a little research, try wikipedia.

@Umbra360 You do know that the majority of TV's are only able to handle so much right? And that the difference between 1.2 and 1.3 is next to nothing. The only thing that's better is the speed, which in the end doesn't do much because the tv only goes so high. For the record, I bought my HDMI not even a year ago, so its definitely not a crap version. But anyway, yeah I'll look it up, 'cause my curiosity is spiked.

@rishishiv Its either your tv, Hdmi cable, or your settings for HDMI. Not all tv's can go up to 1080p, you should check that first. If not that, try a new HDMI. When you plug it into the PS3 does the screen go blank momentarily before giving you a prompt to set it to 1080p? If it does click yes, from there go into HDMI settings and make sure you have it set to 1080p as well (or just right away make sure its set to use those settings). I think sometimes its only set for 1080i. I hope that helps.

@ArrcanarStudios Ok, PS3-Games are made with 720p and 360 games in 576p (i believe), but this great HD does not bring me something because SD-TV'S can not show you HD. You need a HD ready, or Full HD TV and that means PS3-games will also show in SD (with an SD-TV). And so much people have an easy SD-TV, because (Full) HD-TV are really expensive and Blue-Rays are much more expensive than esay DVD's and the quality looks good too. So I don't need that at all. That's great, but not nessesary.

Who cares about the freaking graphics? It is a video game. I you want to enjoy a game, it does not matter on the system. All consoles are equal, they just have different games and different ways to develop them. @jatinkool to be honest ps3 has better picture and free online the 360 offers online for 80 aussie dollar or 50 us dollar a year microsoft offers better online service but ps3 offers a premium service where you gett some free games dlc and discounts iff you want good singleplayer games and great online games such as call of duty and uncharted 2 etc etc then ps3 if you want games that you can get on the ps3 too plus halo which isnt verry cool anymore and want to pay get 360 microsoft charge money

@jatinkool for extras such as a plug an play battery costs an extra 30 where ps3 has it in built into the controller next example untill recently you had to buy a wireless adapter which was 200 but its now in the 360 but its always come in the ps3 moving on you have to buy microsoft cameras to send picture messages where ps3 you can attatch photos from you hdd and you can move data off the ps3 hdd but you cant on the 360 and ps3 has better smothers and there arnt as many jagged edges that you

@jatinkool I have a PS3 and I love it. Unless you're comparing the two consoles side by side, the graphic changes are very subtle. And the exclusives look fantastic. Also, I love that the online is free. Otherwise, it and the 360 are virtually the same.
