She's like the happiest girl alive, I laughed my head off when I saw this because she's so talented it's ridiculous, I've been playing for 20 years and she'd kick my ass in a duel. I think this young lady is awesome.
She's 15 or 16 she's playing music that was played by 20 30 40 and 50 year old's you think they had bit more time to actually grow into their own talent? Or is it that Jimi Hendrix played like Jimi Hendrix even when he was 15 or 16? I'm sure they all started playing badly ...practiced and grew with their music and talent ..... She is awesome stop bitching and complaining don't see any of the complainers posting their "talents" on youtube....
I don't know why I read these comments Mr. B, dimwits like xnp70 and bishibashi33 are just jealous babies with no class. It's sad that another player would say things like this about a fellow musician but then too many young men today have the manners and class of a gangster. I'm ashamed they are the same gender as you and me. Desiree is a star to her fans. Forget the trolls.
Desiree's father playing rythem guitar ( on this really good cover of A cool new way ) Well lets just say, Desiree is really enjoying hanging out and jamming with dad at this age.. How does he do it? You ARE the man Mr. Basset. We all know that Desiree is un doubtedly the queen of rock guitar and soon to be a very common name everywhere. GO FOR IT DESIREE! DO BERKELY... THEN MAKE HISTORY! THERE'S NO DOUBT IN MY MIND! TRULY AMAZING !
@ShadowLancer128 you know too much,,,why dont you post your own video,,,, forget about the smile..you are not Duane Allman you are not Ritchie Blackmore why complain? She's promoting music not her smile,,,she just love to smile period...

she is watching rather than doing - she lets unintended nuances coming and knows how to deal with it, only 1 or 2 people on earth knew how to do this - this is angels playing around with her
Wow she is a young lady who plays better than most twice her age. Stop comparing her and just say that she is damn good for her age. What a bunch of losers I swear
quit comeplaining u are just jellous cuz she is better then u anyways u did good that is a great talent dont give it up for anyone kepp sredding on the guitar
the bends are absolutely terribe. The chops are somewhat kliche and terrible, but i can live with those. The bends however completely ruins the song. Though it IS a hell of a job on her age!
WOW! i don't care what these other wannabes are saying about you. you did a hell of a job. check out my cover of satch if you get a chance. keep rockin
You have done more in you short career than any one of these idiots who are posting negative comments ever have, it's called jealousy, and not just of the playing, but of the look you have on your face when you play...having fun!
I look forward to hearing more and more from you in the coming years, congratulations, your hard work is already starting to pay off. 1 million stars!!!!!!
I've seen this girl's flyers around town, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. I wouldn't put her up with Paul Gilbert just yet, but there is definitly something about her playing that has "it". She'll be a really great player if she continues.
my mate sed u were shite so i thought i'd have a laugh and watch it but ur really good and sorry for the harsh comments he left you i saw them and thought wat a fuck-o
Nope, all that sound is coming from her hands, no special effects. She basically already has all the gain she needs.
Yeah, pinch harmonics are really cool, they add an accent to what one is playing. Those Schecter guitars Desiree favors have a great tonal spectrum and are probably really responsive. That helps, too, I'd imagine.
I know. It seems to be there no matter what she plays. She just loves what she's doing.
This young lady (and Jacqueline Mannering) made me want to play guitar again. I saw what a good time she was having, doing what she loved, and I wanted my own good time back.
This cover is not bad, except for the harmonized section starting at about 2:01... you really should use a harmonizer pedal, or have your other guitar player play the harmony... other than that i really like the energy you bring... Just clean things up a bit and you're good to go!
Dude, she's freakin 15...could you do that at 15, or even now? This chick is amazing, and I can only imagine how she'll play in 10 years... watch out Satch
"One-two-three-fourrr"-Blammmmm! I love the way she busts into that beginning E chord with all that force and fury!
It is the mark of a great rock n roll guitarist to make a guitar sound angry and mean when needed. IMO, Desiree, even at her age, is already a great rock and roll guitarist.
Picture a big mean dude you owe money to and he's here to collect on account or break some of your bones (or worse). That's what her guitar sounds like to me. Her dad helped her get that sound, too.

So nice to see a new, vibrant talented performer of this magnitude. I really admire her attitude and stage presence. As evident by her pretty bright smile, she surely demonstrates a true luv to perform. And that talent and style is gonna go quite far too...
Please keep the videos comin', Desi. Best wishes to you and your band, Time Machine..
Yes, westpoint64; very nicely said. I got that same impression immediately upon watching this video. This was the first video I saw from Desiree and it just blows me away each time I view it.
As you mentioned, there's "something within" that clearly comes through in all of her music. Very few of today's superstars have that same "something within". Desiree displays it so nicely; enthusiasm, luv of music, a luv and joy for playing.... you name it; it's all displayed so nicely.
I find it refreshing; she displays a love of the music, but most importantly a love for playing. It is clearly displayed in her eyes and bright smile. And that's what's missing in many of today's superstars.
Tommy, I know what you mean. The difference is that you can look at how she just flies up there- she is totally in tune with the music inside of her and she communicates it in a clear and awesome manner. She has what Hendrix had, what Stevie Ray Vaughan had, what Vai and Satriani have: it comes from down deep...I don't know how to explain it, it's just a feel deep down for the music. That feel is very much what separates her and is missing in many superstars, indeed.
Thanks. I currently have 3 guitar students and they're all great, attitude-wise, they want it to work for them, but there is no way I could begin to take them to Dezi's level....perhaps I could teach them some of the mechanics of what she does...but teach them how to get in peoples' faces the way she does with a guitar? No way. I doubt any guitar teacher could. Dezi knows how to make a guitar sound graceful, but above all, she knows how and when to make a guitar sound tough, vicious, and mean.
Folks... remember this talented young lady's name. And remember... you most likely saw her for the first time right here. Very soon she will be recognized and known by other superstars within the entire recording industry. The love that you put into your playing shines as brightly as your smile.
You go get 'em Desiree... you're on a road to success and stardom. Best of luck my friend.... aim for the sky!
I enjoy both the Bassett and Satriani versions of this tune...the Satriani one is fully of tricks, turns, and lots of other stuff...the Bassett one just wails! It is so metal and in your face...there's a lot more aggression in it. If I need a rockin' pick-me-up, I really do prefer the Bassett one, but both are great and just blow me away.
Desiree' - I could watch your videos with the sound turned off and still enjoy them, as your stage presence is so delightful. But not nearly as delightful as with the sound turned up. Now...
Have you considered focusing more on your own generation, expressing yourself to the world outside of the blues?
Create something new. I myself love the blues, but I am one of those older farts. Please don't limit yourself forever. -best to you.
Anything she puts her talent into will shine, dexterb4. This girl could be shredding up the neck one minute and slappin' down some funky syncopated gypsy rhythm -n- riffn' the next. You just wait till she goes on a fusion rampage as she progresses, she is going to blow some minds with her outrageous sounds as if she is not already doing so, lol...
Yes, I think you're right quinoacat. I too realized the same about one minute after I hit the send button. She will be good at anything she tries. Good musicians are easy to spot.
I'm personally struggling to hear what is out of key, you must have a hyper precise ear... The sound of the backing guitar is not the best, a bit too much treble end, maybe that's what is grating for you?
Your low E shouldn't be sounding at all, mute it during the solos. In fact, mistakes in string muting and underworked vibratos that you don't hear when playing at home can really ruin a good play on stage, I've had to learn that the hard way ^^
But nevertheless, it's really cool. Continue working and you will be a great guitarist. Besides, you are very emotional and show drive, that's a definite plus ^^
I have none...I'm sure you're too busy to teach me...Any general advice on how to mentor yourself? I think I've found a few ways, mostly centered around teaching, but I'm interested in accessing my full potential! Can you help me?
Wow, that was almost funny, except the bit where it doesn't make sense. Maybe I keep coming back because I have email notification telling me people have replied to my comments
We're all so impressed with your debating skills. You're such a smart fellow. But the bottom line is that Desiree is incredibility talented and I'm sorry you've got your intellectual head so far up your ass that you can't see that. So this is my last response, you win, go ahead and shoot off your mouth some more, I know this is what you live for.
I don't know who you are to this person, but you need to learn to take criticism, as much as you may like this person, their playing is far from perfect, I never said I was an expert, I don't want to make myself look like anything. You on the other hand just look like an idiot.
Yeah, only people who agree with YOU are experts. That's called 'ignornace', by the look of things you'll need to grab a dictionary for that one (and most other words I've used...)
jagman24, you're back. Nice to see you again. So you don't like but you keep coming back. Hmm. Maybe you should do some deep soul searching--love can make a person do strange things.
Desi was 14 when this was shot, and she was taught by her dad, who's backing her in this video, but currently takes lessons from brother David Stotlz; who is Dickey Betts former bassist and who is now our bassist in Desiree's band. thank you
Gee. I didn't know Desi's dad was her teacher and also part of the group until I read this comment from 3 months ago. Way to go dad! That is a really interesting thing to know and explains (to me) a lot about where a lot of her talent comes from. I'm glad to find this out...otherwise, I couldn't understand the logic behind the mystery that everyone seems to have about her...which is
"how can this girl understand music so much and play so darn good". Now I can understand her genius better.
when a kid that young plays satriani stuff, you have to overlook minor glitches. there are some kids that play great rock guitar, but for her age... my bow to the genius.
heyyyyyy cooooolll yeahh a girl playing satriani the most coolest guitarrist of the world awsome!!!!, beauty try to use a boss dd3 to imitate more he sound of satch!!
Father and Daughter! I love it!!! and as usual Desiree' you smoked it! Love the finger work in the second half... never cease to amaze me. Thank you so much for being the Guitar Queen/Goddess you are. Dad, as proud of your daughter as I am, I can only imagine how you feel. Your greatest fan...

The best part is, Satriani uses a Custom pedal to make his sound, and Des. is rippin out a nice pinch squeal, that makes it almost her own!
notice that like 90 % of the time she is looking at the crowd, and smiling. NOT at her fret board.....

It is so metal and in your face...there's a lot more aggression in it. If I need a rockin' pick-me-up, I really do prefer the Bassett one, but both are great and just blow me away.

I have seen this video before, but i have
never made a comment on it. she is just amazing! as for the negative comments about
her,you should learn something about music.
my family has been playing for a long time,
and we all think she is a great guitar player.

it might be a bit rough but for someone that age with that much talent,it impressed me.

She ruined it. Sounds so bad.

-best to you.
dexterb4 4 years ago
Anything she puts her talent into will shine, dexterb4. This girl could be shredding up the neck one minute and slappin' down some funky syncopated gypsy rhythm -n- riffn' the next. You just wait till she goes on a fusion rampage as she progresses, she is going to blow some minds with her outrageous sounds as if she is not already doing so, lol...
quinoacat 4 years ago
Yes, I think you're right quinoacat. I too realized the same about one minute after I hit the send button. She will be good at anything she tries. Good musicians are easy to spot.

WoW!
I like your tune better than Satch's - and I should know!!!

hey des, is that your dad in rhythm?
guitarman069 4 years ago
She's got potential for sure.
The quality of play is enormous, the sound quality is awful. Either she or the guys in the background need to buy a guitar tuner.
RusNyRe 4 years ago
I'm personally struggling to hear what is out of key, you must have a hyper precise ear... The sound of the backing guitar is not the best, a bit too much treble end, maybe that's what is grating for you?
dravster 4 years ago
hey ,straight up;rusNYre hit it, my low e string dropped outta tune, yikes!!
bassettlandscape 4 years ago

Cheers,

shes sloppy? Pray, tell me sir Ukll, what you were playing at age 15 or whatever she is? Let me guess, ur penis?
kjfreuler 4 years ago
Yet again, an immature pratt who only listens to those who agree.
How very big and clever that makes you look, tell you what, do some growing up and come talk to me, until then keep your dumb mouth shut.
ukleeham 4 years ago
Ukleeham, you're back; you keep coming back. We can all see what you can not—you're in love. You'll just have to admit it to yourself.
cyiLike2 4 years ago
Wow, that was almost funny, except the bit where it doesn't make sense. Maybe I keep coming back because I have email notification telling me people have replied to my comments
Oh wait, that makes sense! That can't be true!
ukleeham 4 years ago
We're all so impressed with your debating skills. You're such a smart fellow. But the bottom line is that Desiree is incredibility talented and I'm sorry you've got your intellectual head so far up your ass that you can't see that. So this is my last response, you win, go ahead and shoot off your mouth some more, I know this is what you live for.

Really, I'd rather be a smart ass than in ignorant little kid who can't take criticism.

With a bit of practice she's maybe going somewhere, but right now it's way too sloppy.
ukleeham 4 years ago
Ukleeham, you're so transparent. It's so easy for everyone to see that all you're trying to do is make yourself look like some kind of expert.
cyiLike2 4 years ago
By pointing out the obvious fact that her playing is sloppy? Sure thing.
You're an ignorant little pratt aren't you.
ukleeham 4 years ago
You don't know shit.
cyiLike2 4 years ago
I don't know who you are to this person, but you need to learn to take criticism, as much as you may like this person, their playing is far from perfect, I never said I was an expert, I don't want to make myself look like anything. You on the other hand just look like an idiot.
ukleeham 4 years ago
ReneeNme is the real expert.
cyiLike2 4 years ago
Yeah, only people who agree with YOU are experts. That's called 'ignornace', by the look of things you'll need to grab a dictionary for that one (and most other words I've used...)

i like your smile when your playing! really cool to see that!

Desi was 14 when this was shot, and she was taught by her dad, who's backing her in this video, but currently takes lessons from brother David Stotlz; who is Dickey Betts former bassist and who is now our bassist in Desiree's band. thank you
bassettlandscape 4 years ago
Now I can understand her genius better.

when a kid that young plays satriani stuff, you have to overlook minor glitches. there are some kids that play great rock guitar, but for her age... my bow to the genius.

she killed the song in terrible fashion but at least she seems like she's having fun, and its good to see a girl intrested in playing guitar
But the satch version is a million times more godly
