  • 11 ASSHOLES PREFER JUSTIN BIEBER

  • Incredible track from a simply incredible album. I am so glad my father had/has a great ear for well written records when I was a boy.

  • i love this song. it gives me strength when i am struggling to cope. great drumming.

  • I love when it comes barrelling out of the interlude at about 5 minutes with "You keep telling me I've got everything". Great song. Great album.

  • @dexeron that's my favorite part also!

  • raekwon - chinese marines =]

  • Very nice Classic

  • i was like in sixth grade when this came out and had this crush on some kid and always fantasized he would come into my room "tonight"...wtf was I thinking.

  • Interlude at 4:20 ...very nice....!

  • Superb

  • Superb

  • This is only about .00000001% less awesome as Tonight Tonight but it's pretty awesome. Cos Tonight, tonight, tonight, I listenin' to Tonight Tonight!! ooooooh!!!

  • @Spartn117MasterChief I hope to god you mean the Smashing Pumpkins "Tonight Tonight" and not Hot Chelle rae's or however you spell that abysmal fucking turd of a Band.

  • @StevieTVee92 actually yes i do mean Hot Cehlle Rae.

  • crack addict's anthem

  • In the air tonight + Tonight(genesis)= 2 best songs of all time !

  • As a metal head now at the age of 31, I was brought up on the best of the eighties. This song brings back memories of a much simpler time when music was unique and real--aside from the synthetic drums !m!

  • This song is perfect when stoned!!!!!!

  • @thegame42640 youre thinking of every song ever written i think...

  • I can listen to this one over and over and never get tired of it! Just a great song!

  • The question is, is there anyone under the age of 25 who like this(or even know of it). I mean i like it but i'm 33.

  • @HelloFade2 I'm 13!

  • @HelloFade2 I don't think so....I'm 35..My brother is 23 and I don't think he has ever heard of this???

  • @HelloFade2 WEll with the internet it is possible for people of any age to explore music from any time period that they other wise would not listen to or be aware of. I just turned 21 on the 24th. I always liked phil collins and this song reminds but I just discovered this song recently throguh the radio and I searched the lyrics and found it here on youtube

  • @HelloFade2 Yes. We are few and far between but my parents had some Genesis cassettes which I managed to acquire when I was little.

  • I used to think this was a tribute to the I-Formation in football. I thought the second line of the song was 'like a lone running back that you can't see'

  • @vcuwildman5 I thought it was about a relationship

  • @vcuwildman5 You were close; it was a tribute to the single setback!

  • love the middle part of the song with the keyboards and drums only.

  • @Isotec1

  • it's creepy and wonderful!

  • Super písnička,hudba,zpěvák...!!!

  • Super,super,superior!!!Bez chybičky jediné!!!

To je perfektní,jsem z toho úplně vedle jak ta jedle!!!

  • Got this song stuck in my head cause TONIGHT TONIGHT TONIGHT is SKYRIM! XD

  • Phil Collins is the man; and he will always be the man. Best music ever.

  • i was young but i understood this was the shit

  • your mom went down on my monkey OH SNAP SHIT JUST GOT REAL.

  • I only wish phill didn't injure his back.

  • Sadly Phill has "Taken abreak due to Medical issues"

  • WHAT MEAN THE EXPRESSION : "but I'm in too deep"?

  • @calixtomarquez Deep into his addiction; Highly addicted.

  • I consider myself nearly religiously a Peter Gabriel Genesis fan....but you can't not love Invisible Touch. Something about this album just reeks epicness...

  • I feel inspired when this on....

  • no lyrics...?

  • @neoncookieeater99 The lyrics are found directly under the video if you click on the the "show more" button...

  • @neoncookieeater99 Description.

  • Remember playing this song ,alone in my room a year after high school stoned and drunk all to my lonesom cheers to another year

  • WOW .. I REMEMBER THIS SOUNDS INTO MY MIND 3 YEARS OLD FIRS TIME WHEN I HEAR NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY I LOVE SYNTHETIZERS-BEAT BOX-COMPUTERS AND ALL GOOD PROGRESSIVE ELECTRONIC MUSIC & PROG. ROCK OF COURSE TNX GOD FOR THIS SOUNDSCSPES-SOUNDTRACK OF MILLION OF LIFE´S ALL PLANETH EARTH ... IS GOOD TO BE ALIVE :-)

  • I'm sorry but I can't take that line seriously: "I'm going down, going down like a monkey!" It just sounds wrong! LOLXD

  • Simmons Drums!!

  • I knew Genesis only from the singles 'land of confusion' and 'invisible touch' btw I luv Phill Collins' voice! And I though, hey, why won't I listen to the whole album? I gotta say I enjoyed the singles better. But this song's good, too XD

  • 8 people are coming down coming down like a monkey,

and are not alright with it.

  • Comment removed

  • Seems Todd In The Shadows created 8 accounts.

  • @mimefan He didn't say anything about the song, he only used it at the end of his video. WTF are you talking about.

  • @Quartrez He placed the song as one of the worst songs of 1987.

  • @mimefan Oh OK.

  • @mimefan What the fuck are you smoking? He said he liked this song in his review of "Tonight, Tonight"

  • @Bob2IzIcon He placed the song as one of the worst songs of 1987, please watch his episodes before you comment. Also I;m smoking nothing because I'm straight edge.

  • @mimefan I'm instead of I;m

  • @mimefan hahaha straight edge i havent heard that gay bullshit since nineteen ninety something hahaha douche

  • @elevenames Pray do tell how am I a shower? Or if you're meaning to insult me, then how am I one if all I want to do is live a nice clean life and not fuck up my life on my own free will, eh?

  • @mimefan i dont remember what i said it must be the short term memory loss

  • @elevenames Oh OK, to remember what you said just look up from my quote.

  • @mimefan dont worry about what i say or think, its all a rouse and i am of little consequence. but before you assume certain things will fuck up your life, you may want to look up the word "endocannabinoids" and think about the worlds within yourself, waiting to be reborn. cheers.

  • @ez2tv3 - 8FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111oneoneone

  • I prefer Smashing Pumpkins version.

  • Why was "popular" music back then so good and nowadays there´s mostly only shit on the freaking radio?! Genesis....still be listening in 2100...if i get that old....

  • I'm coming down, coming down like a monkey, but it's alright

  • This is one of those songs, the intro in particular, that defines the '80s for me.

  • Good On Ya Sir Collins, This Song Royally Kicks Arse! ;)

  • It only sounds like DKC because in those games they would use all kinds of odd rhythm instruments in the music, much like Phil Collins.

  • You guys mean Donkey Kong Country sounds like this, since this predated DKC by almost a decade. :-p Wouldn't be surprised though.

  • That's Music. Fuckin' Music.

  • allstargoldeneye....you made my day, for years ive always thought this sounded like Donkey Kong Country for the SNES!

  • One of my personal Top 50 Songs of the 1980's

  • Echoes from a dying race. England by the pound, and just another Lawrence Welk. God help us once the music dies and all that's left is rap.

  • sounds like Donkey Kong Country for the SNES. Still a great song.

  • Dis song is like totally straight up bit-chin, like right on!

  • The 80's man. It's iek a chocolate milkshake with creme

  • best album of my freshman year... so long ago... ty phil, mike, tony

  • I have lived the life. Every day I fight the fight. Thank god I can finely sleep at night. Take care all.

  • Phil Collins, buddy, no one has, nor will ever have the rythym, and amazing voice you have. God I wish I was in high school in the 80s, God knows the world could not have handled me and this song in that era at the same time.

  • This song is about addiction, I used to be an addict and while I was starting to withdraw I would listen to this album.Coming off of opiates was a hell of a thing, youre in so much pain, but at the same time a part of yourself is reawakening/returning from the dead. You can feel emotion and embrace the world again. While I would never repeat it, listening to this album while withdrawaing/reawakening from a 3 year stupor, crying my eyes out in pain was a beautiful experience. /endwhimpysensitivity

  • @RivieraStudios

I consider myself to still be an addict although I have been clean for 30+ years. you can do it. God is in the success and day by day :D I still know that in 5 minutes my life could be burned, so I am still careful, avoiding the wrong people, places, media, etc. Don't have cravings any more-and that my fellow addict is great! All the best to you!

  • @R.S. I suffered from mental addictions...Pride & ego. I was mad at my mother about the identity of my paternal father. ANd for lying to me about who he was. For almost 2yrs I did'nt call her of talk to her. And that anger ate away at me so much I discommunicated myself away from the rest of my family (I did know). I alienated everyone who ever loved me because I was SO mad at her. IT took a REAL friend talking to me from 1am to 4am to convince to call her and forgive her. HE SAVED MY LIFE.

  • @Mrpreshutchins what the fuck has that got to do with genesis ?

  • @CornishCockney @Although the song is about drug addiction essentialy he is talking about being relased from your demons. As I said, in my case, mine was anger and resentment (which is just as poisonous to the mind and works down into your soul like any addiction). " It's like a load on your back that you can't see,

Ooh don't you know that it's alright

Just try to shake it loose, cut it free, let it go

But just get it away from me." I was sinking but did'nt know how to get help. Get it????

  • @Mrpreshutchins Funny, I don't disagree with your analysis of the lyrical intent..The record company and?or Genesis gave permission around '85 to use this song for Michelob light commercials...probably somethin you can bring up here on youtube...couldn't ahve been that anti-addiction serious, now could they have been?

  • This song = pure genius... It makes you feel bad for the kids in my generation who's parents allow them to listen to modern crap, luckily my family promotes GOOD music.

  • Phil Collins plays such sick beats. Awesome.

  • Oh yeah...the long version... my favorite.

  • @agentredlum There's an even longer version released as a 12" single, which runs at about 12 minutes in length :) It's on the Archives 2 box set (Disc 3).

  • 'Tonight Tonight Tonight' is trying at nearly nine minutes in length, a late night 80s disco, slow dance lovemaking kind of song. Well, presuming you can get the image of Phil Collins face out of your mind long enough to actually feel romantic and horny, I suppose!

  • @monkeybutler20 this is my fav version

  • Comment removed

  • Just hear from 3:15 to 5:05.....AWASOME !

  • from 3:40 to 5:06 it sounds like the cave music from DK country

  • Sort of. I suppose we could say this influenced it somewhat. ;-)

  • @videomakerdjd I guess that's why he's saying monkey in the song

  • Attention Monkey ? 7 to slap. And make it hard !!

  • So good. Passionate and powerful.

  • 7 people don't like beer.

  • LOVE this song! he is an underratred drummer

  • 5 leute haben kein plan von leben!! -.-

  • @xxOnlyWantYoUxx Dito!!!!!!!!!!

  • @SrJimmyZOSO I second that!

  • @SrJimmyZOSO Cannot please everyone Sir Jim (god of the guitar), even though they be tone -deaf and have no taste in music!!!!!!!!!!! L-Z forever!!!!!!

  • Great song. I feel this was influenced by Pete's work.

  • @SrJimmyZOSO 3 people now.

  • @ez2tv3 correction now 7 people.

  • @MazterK3vino Make that 8.

  • @ez2tv3 8 people now

  • @ez2tv3 now its 8

  • wwf saturday nights main events

  • @youngbrolly6 I remember the closing credits were Phil Collins "take me home."

  • @ilovejourney1 lol yea me too, loved the 80's

  • Tonight ,Tonight, Tonight........ I have discovered that yes, There is a difference between 80 proof and 92 proof......If you don't believe me, Just ask me how many times that I has to hit the backspace button in order to post this.......

  • @1stRogInAz How many?

  • @bagelguy520 I don't recall

  • Like a load on your back that you Clancy :)

  • Hmm I never thought of this song as being about drug addiction, but now I can see how it is.

  • Genesis what a great band!Undoubtelly an amazing time for Phil Collins!

  • yes, it's about drug addiction.

  • Yo 44hornet, everytime I hear this track I think of the same thing.

  • After going through some of the comments, I feel I should point out that this is a _GENESIS_ song, not a Phil Collins song.

    There's a difference. ;)

  • @em745aa THANK YOU!!!

  • great , finally the long vrsion thx 4 uploading amin

  • @orioleman5 Well patscool ; since you want to split hairs ; actually this is the long version; or album version to go one further, all i have seen posted was the 45 version, and "in too dep" isn't remotely close to this song. I'm American not stupid and have been into Genesis since the beginning(no pun inteneded) Who am i kidding, of course the pun is intended, as i said i am not stupid!!!! Be well ,, bis spaeter, biba ,winke,

  • Have a Michilob my european Friend!

  • @44hornet What's this Michilob you speak of?

  • @Joesire It's a beer.

  • the piano keys sound damm good back in the day sing that sssshit phill

  • january 17th, january 24 or 26th 2912 would be good target dates for there kid to be born, Wills, and Kate, tonight's the night, get busy.....

  • This song was played on an episode of Magnum P.I.

  • @ez2tv3 yepp and also "the brasilian and mama "

  • I've always wondered if they wrote this song specifically for the purpose of trying to get it on Miami Vice.

  • I saw Phil Collins perform this live in 1990, & I also met him & got his autograph. He was the same height as me, & was very nice, very cool, polite. We spoke for a minute or so, was fun to meet him. Not like a huge fan, but like some of his stuff. I ended up giving the autograph away 2 sum1 who it meant more to. I luv this song, I also love, "Do U remember", & "I wish it would rain"...didn't meet him at the venue, met him on the street randomly, was really weird & unexpected, just spotted him.

  • where's the lyrics?

  • @glitter85 press "see more" you will find them pop up

  • I really don't care for the lyrics at all, but the beat was before its time. its fucking sick and has a hip hop tone to it.

  • It's amazing how this sounds absolutely nothing like thier earlier music, yet it is just as good on its own terms, and it is unmistakably the same band who did Abacab, Trick of the Tail, the Lamb, Foxtrot, et. al...that sort of longevity and adaptability is truly a rare thing...Genesis deserves the same respect the Beatles, the Stones, Dylan and all the others get...

  • I saw this "Invisible Touch" Tour in '86 in Orlando.

  • this isn't a long version there is another song called in too deep.

  • what is not to like about this song.

Those 2 people must've really got their ass whooped by a monkey.

  • @patscool234 it probably stems back to some negative experience....

they went on their first date with Jenny Remington and...it..all..went....baaaaaad..

and while it was all going bad, this song was playing in the background in the restaurant/theatre...and since then, little Jimmy and Tommy were incredibly bitter when ever Phil Collins comes on..

    x)

  • One of Phils greatest hist as far as I'm concern

  • @Tawnypussycat Absolutely, it's one of Phil's greatest hits. It's also one of his most misunderstood hits.

  • @ez2tv3 Just curious, but how has it been misunderstood?

  • @ApricotOfLove For starters, people seem to not know, or not fully know, what the song is about.

  • @ez2tv3 It's about trying to get rid of a drug addiction, right?

  • @Tawnypussycat Indeed, it is. Like Audio sez: it is far beyond it's time. Between this song and 'In The Air Tonight', everytime I hear them, well, lets just say my immediate vision is the night scene: Saturday, New York or London, headlights, brake lights, street lights, club lights, and gleaming eyes and cheeky smiles. I just imagine nothing more than driving around a great city at night when I hear these two songs. Geneisis & Phil C? Best match up team ever in music history!!!

  • yea, its sounds better with the instrumental in the middle part of the song.

  • I love this song, but when Phil sings "I come down come down like a monkey" I get major lol's in my head.

  • This song is one of my Genesis faves! Long version!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • MUCH better than this 3 minute-version.

  • @slay444pt totally! the 3minute version just makes me angry - they cut out the best parts!!

  • Top Official Great Tune All Time !!! Quality

  • I am posting this, and playing this, on my birthday.

  • *Sigh* I just heard an overly corporate radio station play this song *without* that glorious middle instrumental section. What times we live in...
