Dave Mustaine obliterates Slash. Slash hasn't got a unique style or sound. His solos are a replica of all the 70's blues guitarists. Sure, he made some good riffs, but nothing near to Holy Wars, Hangar, Tornado Of Souls, etc.

@obelisc1000 If that were me I wouldnt worry about it too much people know what they like to hear (Slash's tone was a lot more impressive on the show) and I love those licks and riffs without Slash (and Izzy) I never would have picked up a guitar. Ive since broadened my horizons on guitar players but my fondest memories of playing is still playing along to the whole AFD album. Credit where credits due he is a great player whether he's the most technical or not.
What I find funny is how this whole dave vs slash thing people are saying "SLASH IS FOR GUITAR HERO NERDS!" when, the way its sounding to me, dave mustaine is doing alot of things for the upcoming guitar hero, and is probably gonna be in it.

I like some slash solo's like the solo in "don't you cry" and his new album solo have some interesting riffs. Well we can say he is a good guitar player, nothing more, he is nothing compared with guitarists like paul gilbert or yngwie malmsteen.

@Woodwind007 i can play Slash solos because is all about pentatonics, but i use some arpeggios, some gregorian modes, string skipping and etc. I'm working very hard to be good like the guitarists what told you. I'm just a beginner.
A guy, can sing very nice without know nothing about music theory but a guitarist can't be a master without music knowledge.

Dave Mustaine obliterates Slash. Slash hasn't got a unique style or sound. His solos are a replica of all the 70's blues guitarists. Sure, he made some good riffs, but nothing near to Holy Wars, Hangar, Tornado Of Souls, etc.

He and GNR revitalised the music scene of the late 80's before that it was all the same Superstrat with piezo pickups trying to be like Malmsteen and EVH he developed a very raw, soulful and gritty blues tone that cannot be replicated.

@obelisc1000 If that were me I wouldnt worry about it too much people know what they like to hear (Slash's tone was a lot more impressive on the show) and I love those licks and riffs without Slash (and Izzy) I never would have picked up a guitar. Ive since broadened my horizons on guitar players but my fondest memories of playing is still playing along to the whole AFD album. Credit where credits due he is a great player whether he's the most technical or not.

Clapton's stuff is very laid back and his scale choices are simple yet he's one of the greatest who ever lived.
