@karezza6 Oh shut the hell up and stop insulting someone you don't know. I hope you know that he IS responsible for SOME of the more memorable revival Who episodes. -.- He's been around since Eccleston was The Doctor.
@TheGDWF They're British; you'll see people in shorts sometimes too when it's snowy. The British = Always complaining about the weather, never dressing properly for it.
@DgamerAA nope, not at all - well he does for like the fraction of one episode - the werewolf one. But other than that he's completely brittish in Who and all scottish here
@jkarani It was a low-budget episode. You can't expect great SFX all the time :) . Besides, the focus of the episode was on the behaviors of the people, not the monster at all.
@StephAnneLouise He wrote for Eccleston and Tennant before he wrote for Matt Smith. Some of the best episodes of both Nine and Ten, if not THE best :)
@krimzonvillain I agree with "some of the best", but THE best episode (IMHO) was the Davies episode "Midnight". It's just horrifying in a "this is how people really act" way.
@IceMetalPunk That episode left me feeling really angry. The Midnight Entity wasn't so much a scary villain as it was an unforgiving mirror of all the worst in people. Though it was a very interesting counterpoint to the Doctor's unwavering faith in humanity, the thing I love beyond anything else about Doctor Who is it's hopefulness, it's central thesis that people are essentially good. So I gotta say, not my favourite episode, though definitely a very very good one!
@krimzonvillain Unfortunately, that endless hope is extremely unrealistic. That's just it, though: in every other episode, the creatures are evil and the humans are good, but none of it is likely to happen in real life. In Midnight, the people are the evil ones, and their reactions to subtle pressures are so over-the-top, yet so shockingly realistic, that it should scare the crap out of you to realize people are really like that.
Overall, Teannant's vulnerability in that episode made the show.
@IceMetalPunk I guess it depends if you're typically pessimistic or optimistic, though I don't think Doctor Who leaves much room for pessimism even in it's darkest episodes. One of the things that the Doctor lauds us for is our endless potential for hope and good, despite our flaws and fears. As for the evil creatures and good humans, that's not always the case. Doctor Who complicates concepts of pure good and pure evil on the part of both humans and aliens in the vast majority of its episodes.
@krimzonvillain Yeah. Usually when he loses control, it's in anger or frustration. It's very rare to see him literally fearing for his life without being able to even try to fight back. The fear in his eyes when he's unable to even control what he says is...wow. It was really Tennant's shining moment as an actor in that show for me.
@krimzonvillain Oh yeah I know they were AMAZING! Just saying you get used to him being with Matt Smith on Confidential...just a weird association my little brain makes! ;)
making doctor who is very hard work especialy the new series, fans really dont know how hard the people at wales cardiff work in order to bring you doctor who.
It's a good point at the end about writing Doctor Who. You have to build up a character lineup and a concept all within a show or two and then ignore it after that. Nice little interview. I liked it.
All of my favourite episodes that are not series finalles are written by the Moff but I prefer silence in the library/ forest of the dead to some series finalles. If you watch the Rowan Atkinson comic relief doctor who, Moffat wrote that as well.
I really love Moffat. My brother and I were discussing our top ten favourite episodes of Doctor Who the other day and almost all of the ones we chose were written by Steven even before he became head writer.
If I was offered a job in Hollywood or at the BBC, I would choose the BBC too Stephen, way cooler IMO. Tho the pay proberly would be better in Hollywood!
I've been watching Doctor Who since Unearthly Child. The trouble was at that time (the 60's) young girls were not supposed to watch science fiction as it was supposedly just for boys. You were caled a "tom boy" if your friends found out. I just didn't mention it to any of my friends.; )
@LoriCiani I've never got why people of a certain background or sex or whatever are expected to watch certain programmes. I find Only Fools and Horses just as enjoyable and funny and Yes Minister and I don't care who knows, I don't think you have to be middle class or working class to enjoy either. Good for you i'm glad you could enjoy Doctor Who, people forget that one of the most influential people behind Doctor Who was Verity Lambert.
Of course I'll miss DT, but I'm excited because I think Matt Smith will bring something new to the show and it will be interesting to watch. You can't let an obsession with a [very] hot actor ruin Doctor Who - it's too great a show :( xx
true.....i used to watch doctor who it is good and not rly for nerds and all that but to be honest i think david tennant is much more of a doctor who person the new guy is a bit baby faced lol
So was Tom Baker and Peter Davidson (especially Peter Davidson) the former who is now the most well-known Doctor of all time and the latter who is the inspiration for modern Who-writers - give the man a chance, he's only a YEAR (uno) younger than Peter Davidson was when he started in the role
i loved the way the doctor said. its not fair!. in the final episdode with him and i liked the reason why he died it shows he is selfless like he is meant to be but still it could have been a little better
Difficulty with writing dr who in my opinion is there aren't enough limitations. The Dr can always get out of trouble with some science-fiction mumbo-jumbo, we all know it, so to create real suspense is tricky. Sometimes I felt Russell T Davies used the get-out-of-jail-with-magic-science-trick card a bit too often.
@bexter2001 Yeah. My friend likes to count the times when a "magic reset button" is used (everything goes back to the way it was through something pulled out at the last minute, like going back in time a year at the end of season 3). I think he found 3 major examples in the End of Time alone. Still, there are some real gems of scriptwriting in the Who mix, and I have hopes for Mr Moffat.

I love the last comment from Moffat about how to write Who... you have to introduce a whole world and characters within two minutes, then dispose of everything by the end. It's true... look at 42, there's a perfect Who story. Or Midnight...everything is introduced, then disposed of, but the story remains in your head despite the brevity of the story telling. It's a great series.
Just seeing this has me even more excited for Moff's first season. He's like a Scottish Wizard of Oz - absolutely brilliant, mysterious and fantastic.

Stop the hating, its tedious now. David CHOSE to leave before he got tired/bored like a job. Give Matt a chance before dissing him.

How can you hate Matt when you have only seen like 1 minute of him, sorry to say this but some people just need to grow up. Give him a chance, yeah?
