  • Great music!!! Xenakis is a real genius!!!

  • I want to write music like this, but I can't seem to break from tonality.

  • Wonderful!

  • con omaggio a Varese

  • Great piece, I have the same record. My favourite piece on it is Thallein. It's the green one, isn't it? By Boulez?

  • Yes, that's the one. On the Erato label.

  • @GreggaryPeccary Yes, that was my first avant garde CD. I recently (last year) got to attend a performance of the solo trombone piece by its dedicatee Benny Sluchin (sp?) at UCSD (the admission? $1!).

Along with a few other pieces, Thallein was also performed (always my personal favorite as well, due I think to the excellent piano part). Of course, having only heard the Boulez, the UCSD performance sounded all wrong to me (the percussionist too loud relative to the rest).

  • it is a shame that nearly nobody listens to this. It`s really genius!

But I hope, that some new composers create a really new and really beautiful music with less dissonance. I think art should be an oasis of beauty. Although I like this new music very much, but the beauty of bach and beethoven is more "true"

  • This piece is great, has a lot of character. I feel your comments are Ignorant, composers hopefully write what they must. There is no true beauty, its all relative. Younger composers in the late 20th century and 21 Century are composing tonally but when it comes down to the true "Beauty" not all are writing honestly or mindfully. I wish more composers would just write and not think! Beautiful music is just end result of doing so.

  • great piece.

  • very nice!!!!
