  • All these urban legends, I think, were just another way to say how aweful our music was, yet, it's some of the best stuff EVER recorded, complete with instumental genius. many things were abstract back then, for those of us with imagination, unlike the "adults " of the day.

  • well, like I said back when all this playing the song backwards came about, I dont know about all you "grown-ups", but I dont listen to my music backwards. There are/were no record payers that played backwards. We al put the record on, set the needle and relaxed, listening to our music the way it was played and enjoyed it ALL.

  • Please forgive me Elvis but Zeppelin were the true kings of Rock & Roll.

  • Sorry,I was typing fast and not pay attiention to my writing and grammar.Of course I posted before checking it oh well

  • Randy Wolfe (aka) Randy California wrote Taurus when he was only 16 in 1967 for his girlfriend astrological sign is Tauras. When joined Spirit (with his step uncle) they used his song for their first album. In late 1969 when they toured with Led Zeppelin They were they first heard the song.California also played with Jimi Hendrex when they were in the band The Blue Flames.

  • The Mary J Blige Version Blows

  • #hotsaucemonkey, are you high?.. I've been covering this song for over 15 years, those are not keys..

  • You need to fix your fact. Spirit was the band, Taurus was the album, and Led Zeppelin opened for Spirit, not the other way around.

  • @mentalpatientinwait i think he made a typo. because the first fact he said was it sounded almost indistinguishably similar to the spirit song taurus. he accidentally typed taurus instead of spirit.

  • From a guitarist's point of view, this is the ultimate song. It has basically, all styles. It starts out with fingerpicking on an acoustic. Then it goes to strumming on a 12 string electric. Then we hear arpeggios before hearing one of the most familiar guitar solos in history followed by power cords. How many songs can say that?

  • No bass my ass. Wrong. Listen again. JPJ was all over it on this track. Some of his best bass work.

  • @vikingpoet Perhaps he meant the first part. After 4:20 (Bustle in your hedgerow) it's over there.

  • @vikingpoet I think what you're hearing is a keyboard.

  • Is this Pop Up Video?

  • This song can't be described by words,it's magic!

No human can wite anything close to it.

  • Best song ever in history!!!!

  • Still a classic after all these years

  • without a doubt the greatest song ever written... beautiful intro

  • Why so popular? EASY - THIS SONG IS SIMPLY MAKING LOVE!

It starts soft gentle - no drums - flute/acoustic guitar. Gets a little more intense after each verse. Getting busy when the drums come in!!! By the last verse - Plant is screaming - Page is whaling and Bonham is beating the drums for all he's worth!!!

Now I ask you - isn't this the way you would like to make love to someone that you REALLY loved????? It ends - in that final soft kiss on the cheek....and the single word.....Heaven!!

  • This song is at the very top of the money list - and there is nothing else even close!!! Each time a song is played over the air - the radion station MUST pay the record company 3 cents - called airplay rights. Plant/Page (writers) have recieved over $44 million in airplay royalties - 3 cents at a time - since 1971!!! It is still a part of most radio stations - monthly playlist!!!!

  • Evil message yo!!!

  • WONDERFUL

  • If selling you soul means you write such masterpieces then i really wish all of todays mtv pricks hooked up with mr.D....

  • @sweeney665 were all waiting for THE rock band of the 21st century

  • tool shed???? LOL

  • ROBERT PLANT ONCE SAID THAT HE HATED THAT SONG . . WOW HATES THE FREAKING MILLIONS THAT IT HAS MAD AND WILL !

  • Such beautiful, yet simple music. Awesome! Thanks for posting.

  • if you play the the song backward from the end to the front the first thing you will hear before the hole sweet power of...... you will hear him say clear and low (I live with satan) then lauder (Of core i live with.......) and and little bit after he say the other stuff. it was admitted that the hole meaning If the bustle and all that was to have the hidden message was to get everyone to talk about it so more people would buy the album to try to hear it

  • You know what the best part of this song is? 0.00 to 8.06

I'm glad that there are no dislikes. This IS the best rock song of all time... :3

  • Jimmy Page has stated that Achilles Last Stand is his favorite Led Zeppelin song. :/

  • John Paul Jones did play his '62 Jazz Bass on this song.

  • The backward messages are some what true, There is power in satan, here's to my sweet satan, 666, dose all come up, if you dont believe me, TRY IT!

  • the bullshit about satanic messages is just so ridiculous, sensible people should ignore it....

  • @NecronRon yeah even thou jimmy page was an alyster cowyleys follower and on alystewr crowleys book says taht the pipers the demon himself, our shadows taller than our soul and etc, i still do not belive it, just becouse i dont belive in anything.

but its true that they plaged taurus

  • @majinbunda no they didnt. Taurus knew about it and allowed it before the release. Hence the allegation of "Using another's material without consent" is not present. Plagiarism is not present.

  • @NecronRon Taurus did not allow anything. I don't know how that myth got started. Read the Stairway page at Turnmeondead website

  • No Stairway? Denied!

  • Never brought up, were the bits of Tolkien smattered throughout the album

  • Interesting the Frank Zappa cover was not mentioned in the "Notable Covers" part.

  • i should do this too

  • Thanks man ! The was very cool !!

  • Rodrigo Y Grabiela's Cover is also a noatble one

  • 6:03

Not true. He said Achilles Last Stand was his favorite.

  • @killie232 after looking into it, you might be right o that one. i know i found him saying both but i don't know which is more recent. all the same the point remains the same that it is at least ONE of his favorites.

  • @Musicfacts Yes.

  • @killie232 you hear that on wikipedia? lolz

  • @ilredhcp1 No. Actually, he told it to me.

  • THANK YOU NICK THANK YOU NICK THANK YOU NICK THANK YOU NICK THANK YOU NICK THANK YOU NICK THANK YOU NICK THANK YOU NICK THANK YOU NICK THANK YOU NICK THANK YOU NICK THANK YOU NICK THANK YOU NICK THANK YOU NICK THANK YOU NICK

  • @7MADY you're welcome =)

  • This song makes me need more weed.Uhhh

  • its was awesome i liked it

  • Like usual ... awesome quality :)

    Keep it up!

  • bad news that it was;t released

  • Otra cancion clasica y de culto, valida para toda clase de comentarios y ejemplo de interpretacion de guitarras.

  • Uhaaaa This song makes me feeling weed!!!

  • i like this kind of music

  • @YouCantClickMyName dont we all! and i have to admit i had to try clicking your name. the temptation was too great

  • If you play Dolly Parton's version backwards ... it sounds like she says, "Here's to my plastic surgeon."

  • This song was written and recorded in 2 hours, 8 minutes with 10 instrument changes, let's see any artist today do that!

  • I've heard it rather commonly speculated that the odd pronunciation is just an effect of access to weed. :)

  • I love these presentations. Although, I was surprised that Frank Zappa didn't appear in the notable people who have covered this song.

  • @Poenk sorry about that. there was a HUGE list of people who covered this song. just sort of randomly pick and chose the names that looked familiar

  • @Musicfacts That's okay. Stairway is a classic and you did a great job explaining some of the mystery surrounding it. :) Lots of people have done it before and it is tough to get them all. Thanks for doing these. hehe.

  • really like the fact that Page wouldn't let anyone but Robert Plant sing it fits so good for me. no living man in the history of mankind has such an appealing voice as Plant, imo that is

  • Enjoying these music facts!

  • Nice work, but, add in facts like where its ranked amg the greatest songs, how best the guitar solo is, how much records were sold...dark facts are unnecessary cuz they are mostly rumors.

  • jus Love;-)XXXXXXXXXXXX

  • awesome job, do you use power point because it seems so like it hahaha

  • yup! i love it. i use imovie 09. for the actual video stuff but i use powerpoint to make the slides. im a pc but macs are great for video editing

  • yeah bro. i loves it.

what do u mean by the bizarre pronunciation though?

  • The part i mentioned in 2:22 specifically "sprinkling doe the May queen". Some people think it sounds bizarre.

Personally I'm not sure if the alleged message was intentional, a lot of songs actually got scrutinized for "secret satanic messages," but the controversy only generated popularity, so the bands that were involved probably didn't care. Sort of serendipitous that people noticed it because any publicity is good publicity.

  • @Musicfacts It's actually "spring clean for the may queen". I have read that it's a reference to The Lord of The Rings. Just FYI.

  • another great song! :)

  • Thanks man! This is one of my personal favorites.
