  • I want a Niles in my life. It's so rare to find so much love in a sitcom nowadays. The characters always go from person to person. Niles and Daphne are an amazing couple. Both actors really put their soul into this scene, and it was amazing. I've seen it a few times, but I love it everytime!

  • David and Jane are amazing actors.

  • This part makes my soul cry.

  • How many seasons did this show wind up having?

  • @byrnsey01 9 i think

  • “How could I not tell you? You're my brother; I love you.” Frasier's big heart!!!

  • @redflost That is one of my favorite parts. I love things like that though. It was such a momentous moment for the characters, that such a reaction was expected. DHP and JL couldn't have played these scenes out better. They were brilliant. Their actions and words were pure excellence. The expressions on their faces were so realistic and the tears felt real. We felt everything right along with them.

I LOVE NILES AND DAPHNE AND ALWAYS WILL! Much thanks to Frasier for these beautiful characters.

  • I LOVE THIS SCENE SO VERY MUCH.

  • Daphne is so beautiful in that blue dress.

  • love david hyde pierce <3 saw him on broadway and have a picture of me and him in my room...tht sounds rly sketchy. you're right in that no one can hyperventilate like him XD

  • There's a girl I'm in love with who is also my best friend. I say I'm in love with her, I mean I truely have never come across anyone more perfectly reflective of my character in all my life. I'm trying to write a letter to her to ask her how she feels about me nd her. I remembered this scene, and I can't stop watching it, hoping for inspiration. I fear my ending won't be as happy as this one. But as Niles says, you dont want to spend the rest of your life thinking about a chance you didn't take

  • @sd06vhl That's very sweet. I hope it works out for you.

  • @sd06vhl I hope it all works out for you. I'm in love with a man, and he is in love with me too, but life is just too complicated and we can't be together. So we settle on being just friends and I tell you it's hell on earth to see someone you love with someone else ... I sort of understand how you feel. I say go for it, it's better to wonder what would have been. I hope it all works for you really ...

  • @sd06vhl How did it go?!

  • I hate all these keeping secrets from each other! Its getting on my nerves. If someone is in love with me, If my boyfriend or husband is cheating on me, Tell me damn it!!!! Doesn't matter if you think it will hurt me or not!

Waiting 6 years and never asking the woman of your dreams on a date or to be with you is so cowardest and pathetic. Niles should have listened to his heart and not frasier or anyone. He could have been with her all this time.

  • @jollybaby18 Just a t.v. show! they did it for the entertainment value. Frasier was a fantastic show but let's be careful not to get all star trekkish and star warsy with it!:)

  • @vhickerson I know silly! ^.^ I just take broken hearts and love very seriously. Frasier keeping secrets from everyone is hurting other peoples love lives. Niles kept his love a secret for 6 years because of his brother. I get so worked up because I always put myself in this position when I watch stuff :o If everyone knew something that involved me Damn I what to know no matter how bad it is. ^.^

  • @jollybaby18 Yeah, I often do the same thing with good shows and movies. I myself had feelings for a friend for about 6 mths. But when I told her she rejected me! Then I met a great lady, we got married & she and I laugh our heads off at Frasier and Niles!!:D

  • @vhickerson So romantic ^.^

  • I don't care what people say about ''jumping the shark'' I love Niles and Daphne and I'm glad they got together when they did!!

IMO it is not the downfall of Frasier when these two people got together!!

  • @ryanbradyjohnblack19 I agree! I love Niles and Daphne. David and Jane were amazing together onscreen. They are great friends in real life as well. I think Niles and Daphne getting together was one of the best things to happen to Frasier.

  • they forgot to "shake the bottle to wake the taste!".

i got nothing for that :(.

  • I love the audience member who had the little emotional outburst after Niles says "because I love you" to Daphne...it just seems to make this scene more evocative. Thanks random, emotionally-moved audience member.

  • @tdiggs45 It had been years since I've seen this episode. I happened to catch the marathon and remember it so I came here to look for it and I've watched all 7 parts at least three time each. Thank you for bringing the quivering "Ahh" of the audience member to our (those that missed it) attention. I had not realized it before. It added to the anticipation of the moment. I love it. One of the best episodes ever!!

  • The way DHP delivers "because I love you" is truly heartbreaking! Amazing.

  • @xmissworldx David is a phenomenal actor.

  • Love hurts more than a broken neck.

  • unbelievable that the show lasted 4(?) more seasons after this episode! most series end when the two lovers finally get together, but not frasier!

  • Even though this is considered by many to be the scene where the series jumped the shark, it's the best of the entire series.

  • @PropellerYoshi1808 Why do people say that about this scene?

  • @vhickerson Just because its when Niles and Daphne get together, eliminating the majority of the humor the show had the past 7 seasons

  • @PropellerYoshi1808 Why do people say that about this scene? It doesn't seem like it's downfall to me?

  • @vhickerson Because it's not the downfall of the show. It lasted another 4 years after this, and I still found it quite entertaining. Some people feel the show lost something when Niles and Daphne got together, but I felt the show gained something.

Everyone has different opinions about Niles and Daphne getting together, but it had to be done, They couldn't drag it on forever. I love Niles and Daphne and were so happy when they got together.

  • i wonder how much the makers of "Orangina" paid to the show to have it mentioned so many times... perhaps 50K per use of the word.

  • They did such a fantastic job of drawing out the tension between these two! I loved this episode.

  • my fav part niles and daphne belong together still cant say its better then rachel and ross stil my fav couple .. of all time ...

  • I love how they always LOOK like they're related. The two Crane boys.

    random comment :)

  • Their dad reminds me of that old man from Up.

  • just have to love this :)

  • David outdid himself in this one.

  • The scene between Niles and Daphne is television Shakespeare. So well wrote and acted.

  • LOCK THE DAMN DOORS!!!!! lol

  • hmmm... am I the only one who found their relationship to be a bit... unbelievable? seemed like daphne a niles never had the spark on film that i wish they might have. still... it was a pretty good payoff.

  • Daphne's dress should be in a museum. I wonder where it is now...

  • Talk about a cliffhanger!!

  • definitely one of the best episodes of the season

  • 04:30

  • I want to party with Marty--and Daphne's brothers.

  • GO NILES!!!!! I just love this scene so much :)

  • 7 years in the making - an absolute classic from the best show ever!!

  • I'm glad he told me, because I love you.... BEST MOMENT ON TV EVER

  • I'll always remember the way he says "I'm glad he told me because I love you." What a great line reading. It's like it came from his character's soul.

  • @RainyDay759 I agree. It was so believable. The way DHP delivered that line was nothing short of phenomenal.

  • Who ever likes or loves frasier please add me as a friend and message me ,

  • i love it when Niles hypervientilates! and 3:43 makes my heart stop!!! finally,he tells her!! yes yes yes!

  • @JoyDivisiongirl

good god, I started surfing frasier episodes and decided I couldn't take it anymore, I had to see when this happens. Probably took another 3 hours of hunting through things (didn't want to see online and ruin the surprise) but its totally worth the wait!!!!

Not the least because of the AMAZING reaction from the audience...scattered gasps of disbelief, mostly shocked silence.

  • @jairus Oh my gosh. I totally did the same thing. :D

  • Comment removed

  • Damn, David Hyde-Pierce is a fucking amazing actor.

  • awwe. daphne and niles love each other so much... it makes me want to cry!!

  • Too much "Ice-Breaking" Comedy. at least 3 times in 5 minutes!

  • Daphne's got manly shoulders.

  • I've seen it quite a few times in the last years and still get goosebumps!

  • EEEEEEP.

    I love it.

Niles and Daphne are the perfect couple.

  • Oh my God Best Episode ever! I love niles and Daphne!!!!! David and Kelsey are such gifted actors!!!! I was crying my eyes out! Sooooooooo touching this episode! Frasier for ever! Great writing and actors!!!

  • Niles X Daphne 4ever!

  • "How do you feel about me" *fades to black* Aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!!!! Damn you Ollie Jonsson!!!! :-D

  • And thanks Ollie for uploading, you keep the memories intact,I appreciate it greatly!!And just to say, every actor and actress is absolutely fantastic!!David Hyde rolls, and Jane and Kelsey!!And Nigel is so sexy!!Thanks for the episode!!

  • This episode just shows, that whatever happens, whichever decision you take, you must grasp any chance is given to you.For once Niles something for himself. He deserved it.Both marriages were mistakenly carried on with impulse,in order to forget, which is totally wrong.Don't feel bad for Donny and Mel(eww),if their marriages carried on they would be miserable. They were saved so to speak, and quite early. So everyone's happy :-)

  • I suddenly feel like an Orangina... ;)

  • @raerae1281

    Hahaha I had the same!!!!

  • What season and episode is this from?

  • @RevelShock2007 season 7 episode 23 the finale from that season -- awesome

  • Yea, I found out. Thanks anyway! I found the Frasier online site (Uk site) with all the seasons, episodes, reviews, etc. I would have pasted it, but it didn't let me. Be well!

  • "I love you...Lord knows I have tried to deny it, tried to pretend that I am over you, but not a day has gone by when I haven't thought of you: your smile, your beautiful eyes, what it would be like to hold your hands and ask you the question I have never dared to ask..." best line ever in the history of movies, series etc. I LOVE IT!

  • Ohh the biggest smile comes to my face when Niles says 'No Daphne, I'm glad he told me because I love you," and Daphne's face afterwards before Martin walks in.

    Love Niles&Daphne.

  • @Water3Monkey You could feel what she was feeling when you saw her face after Niles told her how he felt. It was a look of pure shock. The tears in her eyes and the way she opened her mouth after he told her, WOW. No words were needed, her expression said it all.

  • Is Daphne's reaction realistic? Where she knows how she feels but refuses to listen to her heart only her brain. I've seen it so often in fiction. In the movies "Runaway Bride" and Serendipity and in the show "Ed" with Carol. Do women in positions like that really believe that they need to marry someone they don't really love rather than go where their heart is telling them?

  • haha Orangina, i hate that stuf at home but its true i always drink it in hotels!

  • Oh my god, i hyperventilate like that. O_O

  • best commercial for origina ever

  • I love the name of the episode..

  • I love the moment when Martin comes in all boisterous and then realizes what they are talking about and gets the heck out of there. LOL

  • way 2 go frasier .. ruin two marriages in 2 hours....his mouth needs a keyhole lol

  • She's too tall 4 Donnie!

  • "...and ask the question I'd never dare ask...what's the difference between a blister and a boil?" classic writing

  • if only love was like this

  • For crying out loud Niles - lock the door!!!

  • Wait a minute... ORANGINA?!?

Did they just put a product placement in the middle of one of the most dramatic scenes in the series?!?

"Nothing cools down a tense love triangle like a nice refreshing Orangina!"

  • @rickCoffee Well, Kelsey Grammer starred in a Dr Pepper commercial, so why not?

  • It took a lot of courage for Niles to finally build up his six years of love and longing and tell Daphne, the night before her wedding, how much he loved her. Lots of other people would just keep their mouths shut. What he did was courageous, and I know he's only a fictional character, but I've never been more proud of him than at this scene, when he confesses his love and says that he will leave Mel for her. To risk everything like that and become completely vulnerable is nothing to take lightly.

  • Incredible to think that Jane Leeves was almost 40 when she filmed this...and at her absolute peak in beauty and attractiveness...she was breathtaking :)

  • I love how Niles says "I am so sorry." to Mel when he took the room key. The way he says it, its as if he's trying to apologize for whats going to happen.

  • The poor saps don't know the difference between infatuation and love.

  • Best scene in Frasier of all time.

  • nobody hyperventilates like niles hahaha!

  • "how can I not tell you? You're my brother, I love you" one of the best lines in the series, and delivered with such talent and emotion by Kelsey Grammar.

  • One of the best lines in television history. It seems too honest for television.

  • @CombatSportFan Agreed.

  • donny's one filthy dude... not daphneworthy in the slightest

  • OH FINALLY! I've been waiting seven series to see them get together. :D I'm sad i know, i don't care.

  • i know i wish they got together sooner but anyways

  • Orange juice with liquor?

  • What's an Orangina?

  • orange juice!

  • fizzy orange drink with pulp. It's delicious.

  • I LOVE this show!! And this is one of my favorite episodes! Classic, classic show!

  • goosebumps

  • This episode brought to you by Orangina... ;-)

  • Love this episode !

  • oh my..i know you will find this a stupid thing to mention..but when i watched the former part of the episode..i saw the way frasier looked at niles and daphnes looking at each pother and i said out loud to frasier i knew it was breaking his heart..and here i sit couple secs later and he puts it the same way and i get all teary eyed...whow..

  • this is one of my fav eps x

  • Why on earth did the audience sound surprised when he told her he loved her?

  • Because FINALLY after all these years he finally told her! I gasp every time I watch it!

  • Because... he actually said it to her. :-)

  • Having followed this series since the beginning and finally arriving at 3:43 was heartwrenching. Only time I've almost teared up from watching a sitcom.

  • 1:14. The look on Niles' face says it all.

  • "Daphne, say the word and I will leave Mel in a heartbeat." I think that is wildly romantic and yet the saddest thing ever. I would love to have a man love me the way Niles loves Daphne, but what if I'm a Mel to my guy, not a Daphne?

  • If you're Mel, then you make your guy miserable. And you are mean and vindictive.

  • You aren't that way, btw. I just mean that some people bring out the worse in their partner and Mel does that to Niles.

  • I can only imagine the way Niles was feeling when he said "Oh my God". I mean it must be a mix between one of his biggest fantasies coming true and then the feeling of knowing he just made the biggest mistake of his life.

  • i love daphnes dress in this scene

  • Poor Mel. She didn't bargin for any of this. She simply fell in love with a man who pursued her.

  • I KNOW!!! And poor Donny too...

Up until this episode, I have rooted for Niles and Daphne to get together.

However, this is one of the worst ways to unite this couple. Niles just got married to Mel, and Daphne had been moping over Niles (and thus disregarding Donny's feelings)...all because of Frasier's drug-induced "back talk"!!!

Yes, Mel acts pretty much like Maris; that doesn't mean she didn't love Niles. Not to mention that Donny had stood by Niles and Daphne since Niles' divorce.

  • Yep; you're exactly right! They could have thought of a better way to get them together.

Plus, once together, in my opinion, their relationship had no sparks! Just saying.

  • No, I agree. After the debacle with Mel and Donny, Niles and Daphne have grown less interesting together. First, with Daphne's ridiculous overeating problem due to her anxiety over her relationship with Niles- a foolish attempt, mind me, on the writers' part to cover up Jane Leeves' actual pregnancy. Before you know, we see Niles and Daphne's sleeping problems, family issues, THREE marital ceremonies, hormonal pregnancy...at this point, I could care less about their relationship.

  • I agree. So much of Niles' charm and humour were based on his feelings about Daphne. As soon as they got together, the comedy just vanished.

  • @AnimeOffice

do you not think it says a bit more though considering what they were both willing to do to be together.

  • Frasier is blaming Roz for everything lol

  • This entire scene is so beautiful!

  • They should have cast a more attractive actor for Donny. It was a stretch to believe a woman like Daphne would fall for a man like that.

  • LOL, so true. I agree in real life a pretty lady like Daphne would never go for a guy who looks like Donny, but perhaps the show did that on purpose so the viewers would be rooting for Niles all the way?? At least that's how I saw it, hehe... Though Niles is no Brad Pitt either, he is so cute in a unique way, and has the perfect personality for a boyfriend/husband IMO.

  • Wow, you are a shallow woman indeed. You think physical appearance is more important than personality?

Whatever happened to "It's whats inside that counts."

  • I'm not a shallow woman indeed. I'm a dude, dude. And I never said physical appearance is more important than personality but to be completely honest here, no one dates someone if there not even just a little physically attracted to them. And it may be what's on the inside that counts but very often, what's on the outside can be a reflection of what's on the inside. If someone's as heavy as Donnie, there are usually psychology issues that go along with that.

  • I agree sexual attraction is important in a relationship.

But, a lot of women I know value personality, body language, etc over physical appearance.

  • I agree that it's not the most important part of the equation but it at least has to be some part. Besides, even beyond the physical, Donny really wasn't that attractive of a character. The way he proposed was romantic but aside from that, he never gave off the appeal of being a suave, romantic man.

  • agreed...looking at Greg Grunberg from Heroes...he's not exactly the svelte GQ sterotype we're told to like by Hollywood and he is abso-poso GOR-geous to me, he's got a magnetic smile and his voice is totally tasty...and clearly he's got something going on because he's been married for 18 years to his wife and they have 3 boys...it's such a trope but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, because what one person finds beautiful another won't.

  • i love it when niles hyperventilates its sooooooooooooooooo funny

  • OMG THIS IS SOOO BEAUTIFULL I MUST CRY

  • are you both psychiatrists too?! :-)

  • The similarities between my sister and Frasier, and Niles and I are scary. I am a hopeless, sarcastic, intellectual-romantic and my sister is a snobby, conceited, insanely-compassionate, and brilliant person. Our Dad is a retired cop with a dog and we even discuss things like physiological situations and analogies in the same pretentious manner. Spooky. :x

  • Orangina... I never buy Orangina but...

    It's very significant. ;)

Mr. DHP have a wonderful voice, he's a great actor, I love him.

And I love Daphne too, of course ;)

  • 3:43-3:44 best moment EVAR.

  • Great acting by all. I just wanted to say to all the lads. Faint heart never won fair lady. You fall in love with a girl, act upon it and treat her right. Look after her.

  • It depends on how she treats you, though.

I know a couple where she treats him like dirt and he is the sweetest guy, does everything for her. She never appreciates it, just takes it for granted.

Even his adopted son, her biological child thinks his mother is a b*tch.

Being a woman, I sometimes feel ashamed at the way some women behave.

  • Likely you won't get this message. I hope you do. I agree that some women behave badly. Its just as a man, I wish we could get beyond the limited idea of women as objects. Like yourself, there are women with thoughts and feelings. Reply if you like.

  • I love how Frasier keeps blaming Roz for Daphne finding out XD

  • Pshh it's always Roz's fault :D

  • He has to. Otherwise it's just shameful and that's not very Frasier-like.

  • Great acting by everyone here, especially KG and DHP. There's never been a better pair of brothers on TV. And the fact that writers were able to finally pull this off in such an incredible way is amazing.

  • I love how the audience gasps when Niles finally admits his feelings to Daphne... :)

  • XD I LOVE THEM!!!

  • ahhhhh!!!!! i couldn't help but clutch my heart and scream when i watched this scene!!!!

ohh god!!!! what i would give for someone to love me the way niles loves daphne!

  • @crazytvlady Yeah, imagine a guy like Niles who feels like that towards someone who doesn't even like them back; how do you think someone like that would feel or for the person receiving it to just think "wow, I can't believe someone like him would like me; what do I do? Just attract every guy?"

  • @crazytvlady I totally agree with you.

  • @crazytvlady ahhhh... Someone does I wager!

  • Omigod omigod omigod omigod omigod....

I was hyperventilating too!!!! PART SEVEN!!!

  • 'don't the doors in this bloody place lock!"

  • I waited seven whole years. Finally

  • oh my word! i love this episode its so heartwarming and yet they still chuck in the "awkward timed" humor :) <3

  • lol 'i think roz said something.'

  • Ah I was GLUED to the tv during this scene. It was all the more better that Daphne felt the same way about Niles. Took 'em years but it was well worth the wait :-)
