  • I see people say he is so under rated. Thats just stupid. He is one of the greatest guitarists that ever lived!! People say he sold out. How stupid!! He had millions in early life and did what he wanted.

  • For the guitar and/or Glen Campbell experts, what kind of guitar is the blue electric one he usually plays on stage. I'm obviously not a guitar expert; it looks like some kind of Fender.

  • @Elisemusic361 Looks like a Fender or a vintage Gibson to me. I played a Gibson that looked like that...about a 69 Gibson.

  • @Elisemusic361 Looks like a G&L made by Leo Fender. Model pick up configuration looks like a Comanche.

  • great guitarist, but he sold out, and started playing the country crap, it's a shame, some of the sappy songs this guy recorded, all for the money!!

  • It was Glenn's guitar on Elvis's movie .. "Viva Las Vegas"

  • Bless His Heart, Great songs with Too may Good Memories, Glenn , WE LOVE YOU,

  • real music and the men that played it keep wishing young guns

  • He gave great exposure to Ovation Guitars. If you have or ever owned an Ovation, It was because of Glen.

  • The first guitar instruction book I ever had was a Glen book. He was on the cover with his about 4 year old son. He smokes.

  • This is actually amazing, wish i had found out about this guy earlier.

  • On a scale of 5 stars as a guitarist,, he is about 20//RWBw

  • Always a pleasure to hear the master sing and play.

    God bless you, Glen.

  • Let it known right here! Mr. campbell has and always will be one of the greatest guitar players ever! Note 4 note, pound 4 pound! without a Marshal stack, without all the effects, he could stand on his merrit with the best. with an amazing voice to match it! God Bless the man and his family!!! Prayers and love to you all!

  • Glen Campbell might never have been the "guitar hero" like some rockers but he was never underated in the industry. Elvis and the Beach Boys could hire anyone , still how many guitar players have their own T.V. show? His show ran for 4 years 1969-1972 32 shows.

  • @scottduncan44 - And may I add that his show was supposed to just be The Smothers Brothers Show summer replacement. Instead, it lasted all those years.

  • He also played with the Beach Boys and inspired Kieth Urban to practice, practice, practice to be good at the guitar, and it is a must to do,practice

  • An astonishing performance!

  • This is Great video, thanks for sharing! What a solo, I love his solo on this song so much! Haven't seen him in concert since 2006, and I really am hoping he will add more dates to the farewell tour so I can see him once more....God Bless You Glen!

  • Flipping 'eck!!!! Amazing. He must be around 72 here and could still knock spots off the young 'uns!!!!!

  • @looking4ferdy Yes sir!

  • This really makes me appreciate his talent even more. i had no idea he played like that. In some ways his old TV show did little to showcase his enormous talent.

  • I agree.Man,he is a hot picker!

    Mark Hill

  • Glen also spent some time playing guitar for Elvis Presley. He is a very underrated guitar player. Not many better than him.

  • @YaS1835 Yes. He played lead on "Viva Las Vegas" Glenn is still very proud of that. For my money, "Wichita Lineman" is one of the best pop songs ever made.

  • he also played guitar on some monkees songs in studio............

  • JUST THE BEST

  • Glen played for years before he even met the beach boys. Southern TV is where he first popped up. I think he was a child prodigy.

  • I heard this guy perform one of the best renditions of Flight of the Bumble Bee ever on his Ovation on TV when I was a kid, blew me away, even more when I found out he was a leftie playing right handed. I've always been into rock and hate country, but, guys like Glenn Campbell and Albert Lee are amazing guitarists, and I could listen to them play guitar all day!

  • Have you seen Glen play the Lone Ranger theme song on the guitar....behind his head? And he plays it FAST! Amazing! We live not far from where he grew up & the family jams when they get together. Most of them are musically gifted & it's awesome to listen to them all. His cousin told me that even Roy Clark said Glen was the best guitarist/instrumentalist he'd ever seen.

  • I was there and again in 2010 at Vicar Street. Fabulous he was and is! Got to meet him the second time shaking his hand and getting his autograph at the stage..What a hero and what a gent!

  • Still a TITAN of guitar !

  • Watch, listen and learn children!!!!!! Watch the master at work!!! He's been doing it for over 50 years!!!!!!!

  • Glen Campbell has probably been the best session man to ever come throught the recording industry - save Chet Atkins!!! The man was born to play the guitar!!!!

He started in recording sessions - then played for the Beach Boys for a while - then went out on his own!!! Absolutly - one of the best ever - a true gift!!!!!!!

  • Glenn's got game!

  • some of his recent stuff is of his best, there are few artists you can say that about

  • Hey Zelphor, where did you get this ' under rated ' bs from? Through out the music and country western music busn. he was well known as " one of the best ". Did you just through that out there or what. I believe that I am well older than you are and love country as well as all good music and I have never, ever heard that Glen was 'under rated '.

  • Great tone, tasty riffs.....can't ask for more!

  • Howdy folks. Stroll on over to Jerry Reed and Glen Campbell Guitar Man to enjoy some truely badass pickin"

  • for lordLiamo - Glen's best was The Astounding Twelve-String Guitar of Glen Campbell, around 1969. It is awesome.

  • Go, cat, go! I forgot what a great guitarist he is!

  • Him and Jerry Reed together were fantastic!

  • I hve know Glen since 1950.... always a great musician!

  • @Jezake You must have grown up with him....would love to hear more. I have only known his talent since the GT Hour, but have felt like I know him (not as a love-struck teenager) but as a person for some reason. Watched his career, good and bad and always prayed for him to be all he could be. My late husband was also a Scot and had a great facial resemblence to Glen. Lost him in Sept. However, not the talent!! Something in Glen's eyes tells me we connect. Hope all is well with him.

  • @ericedy

I ues to go to the Hitching Post in Albuquerque... gLENN PLAYED THERE AS HIS UNCLE dICK bILL DID.

I knew Tanya from St George UT... saw Glenn through the years, in Phx and other places... A great talent!

  • Just great!

  • Glen was from the old school. Could Play anything in any key

  • He never should have downplayed his guitar as he did for a while...the man can play....he is in the same company a SRV, Slow Hand, etc....he's awesome.

  • 99% of the young guns coming out today dont have a clue as to this man's contribution to the stuff they are playing today. His music might not be what they listen to for inspiration, but his guitar playing was on so many records and because he wasnt credited most of the time, they heard him, but didnt know it. Glen...hard to find a better session man.

  • @nsra1933 Well I have been playing for 40 years and always admired Glen's ability as a true musican before presenting himself as a showman. There are heaps of showman and mist cant even read music. They never play the same rift the same and people think they are so wonderful But you give somone like Glen Cambell who actually reads music has a great voice and a true Muso You are 100% correct about the youth of today they truly lack real muscial understanding Your comment is so correct thanks

  • @nsra1933 - starting off with the Beach Boys...just an awesome musician..one of the finest to grace any stage

  • @nsra1933 You're right most people don't know he was a member of the studio band The Wrecking Crew. He's a true guitar legend

  • @nsra1933 many don't know he was a "Beach Boy" for a year or so and toured with them .. I guess you could say he was a "Touring Beach Boy" but wasn't an official member of the band...

  • @nsra1933 - So true, such as You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin... great respect.

  • @nsra1933 I just re-watched The TAMI show, and realized that Glen is the guitarist sitting in with the house band (front row, far right.) While The Rolling Stones are performing, you can see Glen strumming along. Classic stuff.

  • @nsra1933 Back at Ya Mate!!

  • Respect!

  • Its from galveston

  • Very under rated guitarist

  • What's his best guitar oriented album?

  • I agree. So is Jerry Reed.

  • wat song is dis

  • I saw him when he was in Glasgow in 08 & 07 the guitar bits were awesome.

  • This is the way Glen should wear his hair at his age - not that scrungy long stringy look. I love him and this is a GREAT example of his talent PLUS he can still sing.

  • Quality!

  • Glen STILL loves to play - it's so evident.

  • Thanks for this. Saw him the night before in Killarney, brilliant!!!

  • This was a great gig in Vicaar St. Dublin and clearly Mr Campbell hasn't lost his touch I hope goes on for many years to come
