Good eye. The original concept was loosely based on the dirty dozen, but after reading the novels (Fall of Reach specifically), we decided that this premise was a much better fit for the Halo universe.

We plugged an xbox into a dv camcorder, then import the video into Final Cut Express for editing. We use GarageBand for the audio. If you want more details on tricks of the trade, just google Halo Machinima. I'd give you a specific link, but it always gives me an error when I do that lately.

Best tip I can give is to learn the art of storytelling. I suggest reading "Character & Viewpoint" by Orson Scott Card (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0898799279/sr=1-1/qid=1156210050/ref=sr_1_1/102-9084930-1992915?ie=UTF8&s=books) as a good starting point. There's a flood of machinima, so quality is a must if you want to stand out at all. Oh, and don't expect to make any money...
