Having lived thru the 70's and had the honor of being around REAL VANS, I was sick when I saw these honda commercials and how they were trying to equate themselves to real vans. The van gods would piss on the odyssey! Crap on it too!

I'm sorry, but that's a mini van, not a real van. A real van has a truck frame, rear wheel drive, v6 or mostly v8 engines, short front ends, are a lot wider and can tow between 6,000 and 10,000 lbs. A mini van is based off of a uni body car platform, either 4 cylinder or mostly v6 powered, front wheel or all wheel drive (trans axle) and have no where near the interior room, torque, ride height or towing capacity of a real van. That's like calling a station wagon a pick up truck.
There was nothing wrong with full size vans. I've seen some efficient shorty full size vans with V6 and overdrive which would make a far better choice than any mini van.

Well actually there was a Plymouth Voyager that was produced between 1973 and 1983 that was similar to the Dodge B-Series van; it then became a twin of the minivan we know today as the Dodge Caravan beginning in 1984.

Yep, the moronic ad people for Honda really need to wise-up. These are vans. They don't look the same, they had way more power, they don't feel the same and they came empty (usually) so you could customize it your way. They were work vehicles, originally.

Yes, this is a cool commercial, but moroever, the A-Team is a GMC van. But, still I respect Honda making a homage to 80s vans.
But, "eric949800", when people like you say: "...it's made by Americans, in Alabama...", etc. I DON'T CARE. BECAUSE....the Japs send that money back overseas; meaning, ultimately, the bulk of the money is going back to Asia.

unfortunately GM is out of the minivan market and no longer makes Astro / Safari. GM is the only automaker to have once offered automatic rear load leveling suspension as an available equipment. Lucky they still make the Chevrolet Express / GMC Savana.

Well actually there was a Plymouth Voyager that was produced between 1973 and 1983 that was similar to the Dodge B-Series van; it then became a twin of the minivan we know today as the Dodge Caravan beginning in 1984.

It may be made by people in the United States in Alabama but that last scene where they go right from the A-Team van to the black Honada makes the allusion that it is/was a Honada van, not a GMC one, obviously the allusion they are going for... still...

Like it or not Honda and other technologically and mechanically owned American car makers when it comes to quality of the work. My dad's Uplander is only a year old with barely 1,000miles on the OD yet the shocks broke .... i Mean wtf? Wow... everyone is getting offended over nothing.
The commercial just shows vans, in general, in scenes where they look cool. They just want to show that vans can be cool because they are now seen as boring, ugly family vehicles.
