  • excellent

  • Beautiful preformance of one of my favorite Smiths songs. Love you, Morrissey!

  • She was left behind and sour

And she wrote to me equally dour

She said: "In the days when you were

Hopelessly poor, I just liked you more..."

And if you have five seconds to spare

Then I'll tell you the story of my life...

  • Eu me lembro deste Album. Marcou minha adolescencia. Era um album laranja: "louder than bombs"

  • Essa música é linda!!

  • it takes 2 very good session guitarists to recreate johnny marr playing a riff on 1 guitar. and yes i know the songs are multi layered in recording but you cant beat johnny marr

  • @greyreview To be fair he's steeped in the british folk tradition and CAN play one guitar like it's three. Have you ever heard Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others live? It's a nightmare to play it like that!

  • Morrisseeeeeeeey !!!!!!

Come play in Rio once again!

I cannot afford all those plane tickets to England.

  • the sweetest thing i ever heard x

  • @ 1:23 what a lucky lucky man.

  • perfect! i love it! love MORRISSEY!

  • Love how Morrissey handles the stage invasion so calmly and keeps on singing.

  • Do you have a vacancy for a back scrubber?

  • doouble u c a

  • i turn 17 in less than 5 minutes. this song will never be the same, since i'll never be 16 again. i'm seriously getting ready to cry. morrissey, you've changed more lives than ever imagined.

  • I think hrhlynn is a beautiful fabulous genius.....so are (were) The Smiths.....

  • BRILL!

  • According to my Zune I have listened to The Smiths over 1000 times. That doesn't include high school or college. I never got to see them live but I've seen Morrissey and The Sweet and Tender Hooligans enough to make up for missing the real thing.

  • Your Zune?..

  • @cwwalsh69 I wish I could get a zune in the UK :( shitty ipod i'm stuck with :/

  • @Rmg12 - I have an old 30gb model I can sell you.

  • is there anyone else out there who listened to the smiths day and night since elementary school, only to grow up and realize that you never got a chance to see either smiths or morrissey live because you live in a far-removed country? hmmm. ㅜ.ㅜ

  • @miraeja that's the only good thing about being older. i lived in london in the early 80's and saw them many times before they were really famous. the national health- issue glasses and gladiolas (and hearing aid). let me tell you, they were MAGIC.

  • Shame the Smiths never did this live.

  • what a fucking treat

  • I don't believe in god(s), I believe in Morrissey.

  • in almost ALL of the live videos i see with morrisey OR the smiths, someone iss always trying to maul mozz down... or they just go up and hug him... is that the true definition of music god.. i mean, how awesome can you BE

  • I saw him on this tour at the Hollywood Palladium and he dedicated this song to me and about six other guys standing in the back by the soundboard (the lobby lights were on and you could see our silhouettes under the archways). I couldn't believe it, especially since this is my top fave Smiths song. He said, "if I were at this concert that's where I would be standing."

  • wow...

  • Morrissey's great but the smiths songs he plays wont ever be as good with out the smiths

  • mine are;

    Half a person.

    Back to the old house.

    Never had no one, ever.

Just havent earned it yet, baby

    Hand in glove.

But tomorrow it might be totally different...The Smiths, my all

  • my favorites songs are: half a person, some girls are big....,,Last night i dream...,I know its over, handsome devil, cemetry gates,Just Haven't Earned It Yet Baby (the best),how soon is now,bigmouth,......

  • happy sad mad.

  • One of my all time favourite Smiths songs. Sounds as great as it ever did.

  • backscubberrrrrrr!

  • "someone who is not really a full person I don't know who could that be I have no idea. do we know?" aahhhh<333

  • Perhaps the best Smith song - you've got to hear this perfect song on CD. Sixteen clumsy and shy - I like it can I stay -

That's the story of my life too.

  • I booked myself in at the Y ... W.C.A...HELLO

    JUST GREAT

  • My absolute favorite Smiths song.

  • i have this album

  • It's about him as half a person, isn't it? The girl he was smitten with for six years told him she liked him better when he was still poor. Ah, it's a really pretty song though. No one can top Morrissey in wits, and while being funny he looks good doing it all.

  • beatiful

  • Hola Miguel. Un tip para ti. Beautiful. Bye!

  • no tienes lo de the smiths?

  • it's so cool how the audience echos him...

  • i am hopeless and poor....believe it or not , girls do like me more lol

  • She was left behind, and sour

And she wrote to me, equally dour

She said : "In the days when you were

    Hopelessly poor

    I just liked you more..."

  • cant get nuff from morrissey .this dude is too down ( i used to hated him tho ... thank you rockabilly girl that got me into him where ever u are )

  • lovely.

  • one of my Smiths favorites

  • My fav Smiths tune by a long way, a bold statement I know but true...'I said I like it here can I stay....

  • i like it here can stay?

  • !!! Classic.

  • gee sar

  • He's so sweet when he sings hello to his fan at 1:26. love you, Morrissey

  • yah..i was there !!!!!

  • super song.really.I like it here...

  • do you have a vacancy for a back scrubber...

  • At least you're not obsessed with a corpse like Jim Morrison...

  • Morrissey hops on assholes. Thank god I'm a dude.

  • This needs to be in his set again!

  • i was there. i fucking love this song.

  • I dont know, I heard that too - LOL

  • is there a studio version of this somewhere?

  • yes, it is on the album "Louder Than Bombs"

  • @luxazur Also, it's on, "The Worl Won't Listen".

  • morrissey i love you

  • haha the light dude must be like "fuckn Morrrissey stop moving man!"

  • Naa dude, that light is Morrissey's aura, it goes wher he goes.

  • :) :) :D

  • @damienmetalwind

    HaHa! I'm digging that comment.

  • sublime...

  • Thx a lot for posting this gem,I've just done a cover and it was a joy, see what you think...

  • This is so BEAUTIFUL. I'm in literal pain from how great this is. To think that Morrissey still would do beloved Smiths songs especially one such as this... it makes the world alright.

I do believe had I been there it would be quite unsafe as I think I would of died right on the spot..My favourite Smiths song EVER!

  • then I'll tell you the story the story of my lifeee

  • and if you have 5 seconds to spare...

  • In the days when you were hoplessly poor...

  • I just liked you more...:)

  • Morrissey on top of his game, great vocals...still, this is only half a song without Johnny Marr playing the guitar...

  • Or Andy Rourke playing the bass!

  • Fair enough. I didn't want to exclude Rourke nor Joyce, The Smiths were a four piece unit ! I just wanted to point out that when Morrissey performs a Smiths song it's obvious somthing's lacking...Agreed?

  • i love this song

  • I love this song

  • best song ever

  • This version is much better than the one in 1985. I guess it's the stronger voice or the better articulation of the sounds. The older version just sounds more nasal, I guess.

  • For me, it sounds better because it's being played on a higher pitch =D

  • Great song.

  • I'm sorry to say, the original Smiths version is still much much better. Granted, this is a live version, but even Morrissey's vocals for this song were so much better in 1985 (or whenever the studio version was recorded).

  • He gets better with age

  • I have to agree, my friend.

  • Yes, I'm in love with this song, too

  • wounderfull song. the essence of the smiths. I wish he would sing this on his current tour. beautifull!!

  • Dear god I'm in love with this song

  • the best of smiths

  • "She was left behind and sour, and she wrote to me equally dour, she said in the days when you were hopelessly poor, I just liked you more..." Brilliant lyrics, always.

  • my all time favorite. It defines the Smiths for me - thank you!

  • This song will never get old or tired...

  • AFCP this song is for you...*

  • great song, realy!!

  • so very very lovely

  • uma das melhores músicas dos Smiths.Fábio Smiths,Aracaju-Sergipe Brasil.

  • Did the Smiths ever play this live? - would love to hear Marr do this on stage...

  • My fave Smiths song. Thank you 10 times!

  • Excellent. Minor detail - but it's actually from Febuary 2000.

  • oh! I got the wrong date passed on to me! I will correct it asap. Small detail but important. Thanks!

  • No worries! As I said, excellent quality. there's not enough of this tour up on youtube.

  • fixed it - thanks - lets see if we can fix that shortage of material... lets tube!
