i think this is one of those "this band is mainstream now, i don't respect them anymore" things; which is very fuckin' stupid. bands like Linkin Park definately overdo it but there are bands like LOSTPROPHETS and Thrice and Paramore and Filter that change up their style all the time and still keep it at a respectiful tone to hold on to their original fanbases; because those are the fans that they know will really stick with them through thick and thin.

i remember listening to this in 2002 when i was 7, on the ozzfest summer sampler that my mom brought home every year, every time i hear this song i remember how everything felt back then. you get this kind of deja vu feeling like you remember almost exactly how the weather was, how you felt, how everything looked, etc. it's so weird but it makes me feel good inside, remembering what i used to do back then just makes me laugh when i hear this song

The album version has two different versions as they released Fake Sound of Progress in it's original form in the UK a year before hand then had it remixed....There was less scratching in the original it was also slower and a bit softer and Ian rapped the line "The Hardest word is when I count to four I'll never feel another day"....
@WarlockAshlii Yes, there are 2000 and 2001 versions of this song (it was the only one that was completely re-recorded for the latter), but this video one is different from both of them; perhaps it is the same as the one on the CD single, but I can't check this.

@METTAALLIICA Na. Listen to them all again, the heaviest guitar riffs are in Start Something and Liberation Transmission. From Start Something = Burn Burn, To Hell We Ride and Wake Up are all heavier than ANYTHING on FSOP. From Liberation Transmission it's the same case with Everyday Combat, The New Transmission and For All These Times. There's also better solos on this album for example 4AM forever. The Betrayed was also heavy on some songs like Next Stop, Atro City.

Well thats not always the case I remember a couple of bands I couldn't stand the old stuff I like all of the lostprophets music though. Liberation Transmission took me awhile to get into lmao.

The fact is, the first album was amazing, and since then they've been on a downward spiral musically and in terms of appearance and arrogance, I know it, a lot of other people know it, and we don't like it and find it sad. @MxMagpie Not necessarily, Lostprophets is my favourite band and I like both their old and their new songs, they haven't changed that much, their lyrics changed more yes but thats because they are using more personal experiences in their lyrics to make it more relatable to the audience. They are less heavy now but seem more comfortable with the music they are producing and are less experimental because of it, this means they are enjoying what they are doing, otherwise don't listen.

I don't listen to them now, that was the point of my post, I would if they were still being innovative and different but their music just isn't interesting anymore :( I was mourning their loss if anything. lostprophets are at the top of their game but I think they should make songs and get the old sound back a bit but their new sound is just off the hook I can play every part with all the instruments I have almost perfect. I still like to keep a little bit out when I play because I don't want to sound exactly like them.

Very catchy riff and it's not a bad song, given :) But still, who they are now and their audience and general sound is nothing like as good as it used to be and I don't want to sit down and listen to an album of theirs anymore, that's what I meant by un-listenable really. Also, you can't say Ian Watkins isn't a dick :P

@8gerrard8 hahahahahah what ? wait are you serious ? heavy screaming drop tuned guitars and bass mixed high ? this was their heaviest album , start something had some heavy some ballad stuff, liberation transmission only heavy song was everyday combat rest was kinda rock pop, the betrayed kinda dark with dstryr/dstryr being heavy and some more rocky tunes like its not the end of the world ... your clearly not thinking straight and for the record liberation transmission is not their best album

@METTAALLIICA Na. Listen to them all again, the heaviest guitar riffs are in Start Something and Liberation Transmission. From Start Something = Burn Burn, To Hell We Ride and Wake Up are all heavier than ANYTHING on FSOP. From Liberation Transmission it's the same case with Everyday Combat, The New Transmission and For All These Times. There's also better solos on this album for example 4AM forever. The Betrayed was also heavy on some songs like Next Stop, Atro City.

@8gerrard8 i guess your entitled to your own opinion but i think the heaviest stuff came from the first two albums and liberation transmission was good musically and creativity wise but not anywhere near heavy, heaviest songs on start something were we still kill the old way and we are Godzilla you are japan and they get smashed by this and shinobi , in fact go look up KOBRAKI and tell me there is anything heavier only thing that comes close is godzilla

Though there is this conspiracy surrounding Warner, as soon as Muse and Linkin Park signed to them they made crap albums.

The fact is, the first album was amazing, and since then they've been on a downward spiral musically and in terms of appearance and arrogance, I know it, a lot of other people know it, and we don't like it and find it sad. Some people can enjoy their new, shallow sound but that doesn't make it good.

And the problem with the guitar solos is that they exist. No guitar solo has ever been useful in music, by nature of being a solo, it's just part of the generic metal formula, it's not interesting or creative, it just appeals to the popular audience.

If it sticks to a formula, it isn't creative. Good guitar parts are incorporated into music in interesting ways. This song was innovative, creative and different. The stuff they're doing now bows down to the generally popular heavier styles. Doesn't make it good.

@8gerrard8 heavy is not defined by drop tuned guitars or solos. and please don't use the word screamo unless you're referring to underoath or some of those crappy bands. heavy is an attitude. back then these guys played metal style music and they played with metal bands. liberation transmission was soft as all hell and they toured with the likes of MCR and paramore that year. i don't hate those bands, but if that is what YOU call their best stuff it ain't me who needs to put the pipe down

@MxMagpie Not necessarily, Lostprophets is my favourite band and I like both their old and their new songs, they haven't changed that much, their lyrics changed more yes but thats because they are using more personal experiences in their lyrics to make it more relatable to the audience. They are less heavy now but seem more comfortable with the music they are producing and are less experimental because of it, this means they are enjoying what they are doing, otherwise don't listen.

lostprophets are at the top of their game but I think they should make songs and get the old sound back a bit but their new sound is just off the hook I can play every part with all the instruments I have almost perfect. I still like to keep a little bit out when I play because I don't want to sound exactly like them.
