Curiously there's also a cut scene located somewhere else on the DVD where Peter accidentally kicks Sarah during the youga and then Aldous gets her to relax by going horseback riding. Unfortunately Sarah's horse decides to leave the trail, walk across a golf course and out onto the street. Kristin Bell was REALLY funny in this but it made no sense to humiliate Sarah like that so early in the movie (plus it had nothing to do with Peter's story), so it was for the best that they dropped it.

i think it reflects american comedy movies - and american comedy in general.

the simple answer is that the idiot sidekick and idiot lead character is a specific method of creating humour, an easy recipe.

the reason that we use this over and over, i think, is because we have poor standards for comedy. for example, the average american standup comedian or average tv comedy is incredibly mondane- at the very best, our typical comedy is useless. at worst, its ignorant and disgusting.

There is genius, certainly comedians i like, from Bruce to Hicks to Chappelle, i think there always has been comedy gold. but the reason these guys are great is because they are outside the mainstream. with the exception of Chappelle, they were only liked by a small percentage, and they were anti-authority. and Chappelle left the country for creative control.

I think that the airport scene is the only one that should have stayed in, but it needed to be trimmed a little bit. I think it showed why Peter stayed with her as long as he did, and justified her being hard to get over. It made Sarah seem a little more human.
