  • The Dao can be spoken and thought, it is not eternal or unchangeable. Never heard this from other Dao de Ching scholars.

  • @Childrenguild when he says that the dao can be thought, I think he means that our brain, body, heart, soud is connected with the Dao trough the meridians. the Dao can be spoken because the Dao's energy is inside us. Everything is changeable in the universe, everything can transforms, mutates, and re-creates in other forms or energy. Also us are changeable, otherwise we would never evolve. therefore the Dao.

  • Very good, I cannot find his translation. Seems an interesting read.

  • @wattsnick30 If you read one of his books and try the energy exercises then you will be doing real science by seeing the results of the experiment on your own body and mind.

  • Let him talk Alan !!!

  • Anyone rad book by Dr Stephen T Chang called

"The Complete System of Self Healing Internal Exercises"

I am wondering on pg 141 about two things,

One he says if you have a heart attack to rub the little finger.

He does not say if left or right hand, or which part of the little finger.

    Cont/...

  • @ChiHealingvibes 2nd question:

The second one is if your heart stops, that if someone places the forefinger

between the upper lip and teeth and the thumb outside the upper lip, and pinch the flesh with these fingers, to pinch very hard.

Well, I don't understand, if the index finger goes on the gum, then the thumb automatically rests on the chin.

    How to do this? fnx

  • @ChiHealingvibes

He means rub the side of the pinky by the nail side that is towards the thumb. That is where according to Chinese Medicine the heart channel ends. And its a jing well point, that takes heat off the body, and revives consciousness. A better idea would to immediately bleed it. Heat correspond to the pernicious evils generated outside and inside the body. That point is where the laughing buddha would lift his hands toward heaven opening his heart, so toward the thumb side of pinky

  • While I love Taoism - it has absolutely no jurisdiction with regards to human biology.

I call bullshit on the pseudo-science of semen conservation. Please try to base your claims on actual scientific findings.

  • @Ravel87 Where did you get your tao info, the new age bookshelf?.Carl yung is one of scientists, another one is John Harvey Kellog, the guy who invented the Kellogs cereal.

  • your tao can be told but not the ''eternal'' tao

  • very very knowledgable persom you can find more about dr stehen .t chang

  • i wish the guy on the left would have let the guy talk

  • Those who talk do not know, those who do not talk know...

This doesn't meant that nothing they said were unwise

It just means to just feel and not always to to analyze...

    See, without seeing....

    Understand, witout analysing....

Be able to hear everything in every present moment...

    feel,fully awareness

  • aaa. I understand.... "If you are ill, look into the world without looking, and wish to meet your problem, with an approach of love, you will find the cure for you problem" :)

Sick= fix your vibration and heal yourself

No Sick = problem fixed :)

  • Thank you for the video, I have to say something about a question you had in the video, you asked where did the taoist knowledge of herbs come from? I must say his answer, although one I respect and will remember, is not the entire answer. The knowledge of all the plants around us was first a matter of survival to the earliest humans and came with them as they spread across the earth, combined with knowledge of all things including the spiritual, it became shamanism, which taoism is from

  • @fourplusseven

Do not separate is a principle of the ancient Wisdom.

Everyone who wants to be wise, he will not discard thousands of years of experience.

  • @fourplusseven (and everyone else)

In my opinion good doctors are doctors like dr. Chang and all who respect the ancient Wisdom in this field- holistic doctors, who see the human being as a wholeness, that is to live and eat naturally and do not take drugs which are very primitive compared to herbs.

Doctors who give drugs, do not see the human body as a wholeness, their point of view is childish compared to the holistic one.

Holistic comes from the greek word "olon" thah means all.

  • @fourplusseven

From Ippokrates yes. I have read it through modern doctor's books who respected the ancient Wisdom, so I don't know the exact text. But someday I want to read from the ancient source, even though things in diet are simple. Just eat natural as I wrote at my comments as principals.

The books that I read are greek from the doctors I mentioned and old, they are not published anymore unfortunately, but I think that having a good diet is simple.

  • @fourplusseven

    What does this mean?

It means that to heal and to sparkle with vitality (another daughter of Askliipios is Aiglii -means shine), you have to be in light , nature and not to a dark waiting room of a doctors office.

You have also to be wise, that is, respect the ancient Wisdom and implement it to your life (e.g. 1gr of prevention saves you from 10kg of healing).

Dr. Changs books are, I think, a great source to prevent and heal illness wisely.

  • @fourplusseven

Askliipios the demigod healer, was born from Apollon the Light and he was also grown up by the centaur Heiroon, symbol of the ancient Wisdom.

Of course, one of his daughters Yigeia (=Health) was correlated with prevention.

    Mythology is encoded Wisdom.

  • With other words, they were real doctor's, like dr. Chang , doctors of health and not doctors of illness like the most in our days.

In the Greek mythology, the demigod Asklipios , son of Apollon the God of light, was the greatest doctor on earth.

One of his daughters was Panakeia, who is correlated with the use of herbal combinations.

Her name means : cure for everything.

We can see how important the herbs were for the ancients, exactly like their Taoists banqueters.

  • @fourplusseven

    Hallo,

yes this information is known from the ancient times in Greece.

But Wisdom is one, the basic principle to eat natural foods and no meat and to be in a natural environment is known to many other civilizations.

Ancient's Greece greatest doctor Ippocrates, also preached this natural way of eating and living in general.

These teachings remained to our days and I read them , from some other doctor's books- in modern Greece, who also respected these ancient Wisdom.

  • @fourplusseven

Principle B. "Way of cooking" or "Do not fry"

If you fry the olive oil (or any other kind of oil), the "good" fat turns to "bad".

In addition, many needed nutrients of your food are killed.

Eat it boiled, from the oven or raw, but do not fry.

Of course many recipes are known , but I can't write them all here.

One of the best is just to wash and cut vegetables and put them in the oven for about an hour.

    The vegetables are...

  • @fourplusseven

What about if we cambine the two worse kind of foods? (meat and preserved foods?)

    The result is catastrophic.

It is scientifically proven by cooperation of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and University of Crete (both in Greece), that all preserved meat (ham, bacon, sausages and all the chips) can generate cancer, because of the severe chemical processing they have passed through.

Of course, the same result is found by many other universities all over the world.

  • @fourplusseven

Use of organic olive oil is recommended , because we need some fat also but not the "bad" fat that meat has. Olive oil's fat is "good" fat, that is, it's not stored to our blood vessels and cause increased pressure like the ones of meat, it's absorbed and is very nutritious.

Olive oil is a very important ingredient of the traditional Greek way of cooking.

Unfortunately, this habit is changed in modern Greece, many eat a lot of meat and butter, castrating their health.

  • @fourplusseven (and everyone else of course)

Of course nothing happens if you eat sometime meat and non organic foods to a restaurant.

Just say to yourself that "today I will eat garbage". It is a lot better than to be worried about what you are eating. You have to be relaxed while you eat.

Do not eat when you are angry or frustrated.

Say to yourself that you will think about your problems after eating your meal.

  • @fourplusseven

That is why our body cannot completely digest meat and all of its toxins.

These toxins go to our blood and from there to our internal organs.

Am I wrong if I say that in many religions and many sages didn't ate meat, because they understood that is not so good to our health?

Common fact of longevity to all of the 100 years of age, is the avoidance of meat.

Although, if you still want to eat meat , it is recommended not to eat more than once per week, of lean meat.

  • @fourplusseven

We can see that meat is number 6.

You can completely substitute meat by eating every day 10 almonds or 10 walnuts.

They have all the necessary ingredients that meat has, but without the side effects meat has.

As human beings we are not made to eat meat. That can be proved by our anatomy and physiology (our body parts).

For example, we do not have sharp teeth like carnivores(e.g. lions), but the same kind of teeth like herbivores(e.g. monkeys and sheep).

    That is why (continued)

  • @DIHNEKHS89

dude, you need to look at your teeth.

    cows have ALL molars.

    my cat has none.

ive got molars in the back, sharp teeth in the front.

and our digestion system is too long to optimally digest meat, and too short to optimally digest veggies.

may I suggest that the anatomy and physiology points to...

    omnivore.

  • @fourplusseven A. Food sorting - number 1 is best (we are talking of course about organic foods, which are the best quality foods and taste a lot better than the others) 1. Fruits 2. Almonds, walnuts 3. Vegetables 4. Whit, rice 5. Milk, cheeses, yogurts 6. Meat 7. Preserved foods You should eat as you can from the first numbers and avoid these on the end. We can see that "meat" is number 6.
  • @fourplusseven

    Hallo,

I have read an abstract of this book by reading "The Great Tao", which is also one of dr. Chang's books.

The Wisdom is one. There just different paths to go.

The ancient Greek civilazation also had an extremely good diet way.

It has survived to our days.

    The principals are:

    A. Food sorting

    (continued in next post)

  • THis is amazing.. taoist is more than philosophy it really works i've done alot of what he teaches it really is the way

  • @Dickeyj2010 The Tao is the WAY of life.

  • could some1 plz explain in short terms what this taoism is.

can not understand much because bad quality.

  • Is there anywhere to hear Stephen Chang without the rude interruptions? The interviewer is incredibly annoying!!

  • @bohemdebify i agree.....but, SC knows how to deal with him perfectly.

  • Alan is soo funny! I love his interviews!

  • fuck does the white guy have to shout all the time so annoying

  • I'm very glad that Chang says the Tao *can* be spoken (so much for pseudo-mystical obscurantism), and that it is NOT eternal or unchanging - that in fact its essence is change. An eternal unchanging perfection of ideal forms is a Platonic notion, and (apparently) not a Taoist one. Suits me fine.

  • A close friend of mine knew Dr. Chang over a period of many years, taking several of his courses, and respected him profoundly.

Dr. Chang is in his early to mid seventies in this video. Notice his jet black hair. According to my friend, he does not use hair dye.

I think it's actually good that Alan makes a few common erroneous assumptions, for this gives Dr. Chang an opportunity of correcting them, which is informative to listeners.

  • maaaan Alan needs to shut up and let stephen speak, his voice is soo anoying

  • This is the first time I've seen Stephen Chang.....He has a great sense of humor.

  • this guy will not stop talking!! Let stephen talk! He just wants to show what he thinks he already knows. Ahhhh!

  • my mother had many difficulties with her health, and then she started using herbs in book by Maria Treben (I believe she's from Austria). Now doctors are amazed.

Just writing this to encourage whoever reads it :)

p.s. I'm doing exercises that dr. Chang wrote in his book :)

  • This guy Alan is an idiot. He hears but understands nothing! He comes with a full cup and needs to empty it before he talks with someone like Stephen Chang.

  • heheh yes its not the first time he has embarrassed himself

  • Yes, when you seek knowledge, act as if you know nothing at all. This guy can't get over the fact that he is interviewing Stephen Chang.

  • No offense intended, but that Zen cliche about the empty cup has been told a few too many times.

  • @sorolon I agree. It's very cliche. It's only words and no understanding. No mind. Not many understand "the empty cup". That is why it is usually no good. Unfortunately.

  • blood converts to all that??

  • herbs make a dead body decay slower..

  • TRADUCIDO ?...DONDE?

  • Extraordinary..I love Dr. Chang's work and spirit..wish the sound were louder.

  • alan sounds like hes got his balls in vice

  • i hope ur testicles explode.

  • I hate Jon Alan. Thank you.

  • Alan,

would you please relax and let your guest finish a thought.

  • I know right!!

  • yeah lets hear it for the herbs!!

  • i practise semen conservation and im 32 but many people tell me i look like 25-26.

  • Likewise, I look almost 10 years younger

  • tell me how to learn this practice

  • @imaginator Everyone tells me I look 30 and I'm 44. Yes I meditate a bit and do Tai Chi that I learned in a full combat martial arts school, and yes I'm a Taoist, but I also smoke a liitle, drink a little, and generally don't take things too seriously. I keep my belly full, don't get angry too much, keep it simple, and relax unless I'm working. Balance and being chill will make you healthier than storing jizz. Stienfeld looks like he's so sick he's about to die and he's probably a vegan.

  • steinfeld is a german name lol ^^

    steinfeld = stonefield

  • in this vid "Alan Steinfeld" is so annoying,

    it's actually a bit funny :p

  • man... that guy on the left needs to just let the Chinese guy on the right talk... he keeps interrupting and that's annoying.

  • Steinfeld is often like that.

  • he doesnt look that youthful

  • dude... Stephen Chang is 85 years old. He looks DAMN youthful for his age!

  • oO OO Oo

    he's really 85 years old ?

    what the hell !

yeah, of course he looks youthful !

i though he was about 50 (and in a very good form even for 50 haha)

  • Remove the false hair and he will look a lot older.

  • no in this video hes 77(:

  • nice video

  • how can the most natural things like ejaculation, breast feeding and mensturation be negative are they not in tune with nature???

  • I gave up today

  • ya right hahaha. ill give you 2 months

  • It's true that is hard to abstain from ejaculation but this is the first step before becoming a multi-orgasmic man. Read Mantak Chia's books on sexual kung fu.

  • Ejaculation and menstruation are loss of important energy.

  • even india is good in herbals infact ayurveda went to china

  • There are differences in theories between ayurveda abd Chinese medicine.

  • I'm Chinese singaporean. i am glad that the west now have the interest to explore chinese arts and philosophy.

  • I guess I'm OK as my sound is low, too. Have Chang's methods helped anyone? I followed several of his exercises in 'Internal Exercises' book but haven't seen them listed elsewhere and am curious as to whether they really do work....

  • This is very hard to hear, and my computer is on high volume as is the YouTube sound. Any suggestions? I have CHang's book, and really want to hear him...! THanks.

  • Can you hook up speakers to your computer? That would help, because I hear it alright on my computer.

    It is low, but audible.

  • @lionhearted38 use headphones

  • @lionhearted38 ....I had the same difficulty via my speakers. Try headphones, that works well for me.

  • See thats what Im saying. I've read some of Dr Chang's books. They are fairly straight forward and easy to undertand. He does not really clarify anything as much as he does muffle his guests points which makes everything more confusing rather than clearing things up.

  • damn this ish is sick man! (sick meaning good obviously)

  • I think that Alan researched Dr. Stephen Chang's book really well. He asked the right questions and clarified quite a few points. Well done.

  • It is true. I have been studying Taoist philosophy for many years. Thanks.

  • wow...reading the same book over and over again...lol, just kidding, kind of, though it might help you to broaden your studies a bit, I guess.

  • Alan Steinfeld....BE QUIET AND LET YOUR GUEST TALK.....I watch the video for the information that Stephen Chang gives not for constant intrusion and drivel. He would have had a lot more to say if it wasn't for your incessant and obnoxious interjections.

  • I have to agree. I almost had to shut the video off. I really want to hear what HE has to say.

  • although (LOL) I did just write the word "write" instead of "right" in the above statement, funny as it was in the very sentence that I dissed your grammar. Anyway the point is please re read what you wrote to me originaly and try to thinker deeper on what you said. peace out.

  • and for the record, I have no idea what you mean. "religion" is one of the broadest and most confusing word/concepts in the world. millions die do to its inefability.

  • overthink...more likely an undestatement. I seriously see a huge difference between philosophy and religion, as well as the various forms of religion, as well as differences between each of the various forms which hardly warrants your semantic rashness. No I do not think I am over "thinking" at all. Of course no offense (spelled write here for you) could ever be taken and likewise please do not take the spelling quip as an offense.

  • The Tao is the best religion on Earth.

  • please try to realize it is far from a religion, at least in the traditional sense of the word. Someone would say a philosophy...or even a science in the case of the tao...

  • Define Religion* No offence fellow, but, do you

think you might be over thinking this a little?I think you know what I mean*Don't you?

  • maybe you are underthinking...by denegrating something as dope and cool as the tao by calling it a religion? maybe i sound like i am over thinking due to the fact that you are underthinking. I dunno. in the end it doesn't really bother me. I just don't like people making excuses for there own mistakes by blaming the person who pointed it out.

  • please don't call it a religion or I will be forced to call you both a fool and an enemy, as you will turn the philosophy into another shallow tool for control and indoctrination. Then you will be held responsible for the denegration of the once great teaching into so much mush that it is already becoming.

  • your attempt at "conversion" is why you fail...

  • ha ha ha, you do make a point. The good doctor says, "there was an emperor who was poisoned to death." And, the interviewer says, "Oh, and he took some herbs and he was cured, right?" The doctor says, "No, he died."

NOTE the moral seems to be: Western medicine is killing people with cameras and surgery. Eastern medicine has discovered herbs. The west must discover the herbs.

  • yes, I suffered for years from bad rosacea (thin veins that cause red flushing in face) TCM herbs cured me 80 percent while ten years of western medicenines did nothing but give me stomach problems and intense photosensitive side effects to cyclins.
