The webmaster called the school thinking it was a student, and that the student would just be disciplined with a detention or something. He still has way too much time on his hands, though.

I'm confused because you can't find the place address of the IP address (exactly) due to privacy laws (unless you are an authority etc). Only the area of the person, so the website must have hacked it surely, which is illegal....

@joefish41 Because usually large organizations such as hospitals and school have a bank of IP addresses reserved to them ... so instead of looking up the IP address and getting a city name back or an ISP provider you will get the name of the organization back. I am sure once he found that out he contacted the school and got the network admin to monitor the traffic to see exactly which computer accessed the site and hence which office and person wrote the comment.
