I'm an engineering student as well and MARfilms is right, so called mathematical tricks are used in many scientific fields and have nothing to do with deceiving people. Anyone who's had basic courses at the university level should know this.

Yes, this is true I am a 21 year old student under the URI College of Engineering, with a major in Mechanical Engineering. I also am an intern with and engineering lab. But to back to the heart of the matter, it isn't right for people who lack scientific credentials to make a scientific claim. The truth is the word trick is used commonly in disciplines such as physics, multiple types of mathematics, and all forms of engineering. But people like that guy form howtheworldworks wouldn't understand.

Well, the 9/11 truth movement isn't as wacky as you think it is. Did you know that a third tower fell on 9/11. Most people do not know this fact, including myself for several years. This building was not hit by a plane, yet it fell the exact way as the other two buildings. And the government claims that fires somehow melted steel. And all of the buildings fell straight down without any resistance? Now if it was a controlled demolition, then that explains everything.

The NHS provides an appropriate level of care to meet the needs of an entire country, with over 90% satisfaction levels. Other countries have other systems, some public, some non-profit private, some public and private. But it is a fact that, of the developed world, the US is the worst. It provides gold-plated service at double the average price to only those that have the means to pay for it. Those that can't get nothing. It is a disgrace.

Internationally, healthcare faces the same problem: the need for it, and the ability to pay for it are almost exactly diametrically opposed. So the problem is how to provide it, and ensure that it is adequately funded.
Ordinarily, I'd favour a free-market system such as the US'. Except that it is the least efficient, least effective and downright cruel to human beings in their time of need.
The US system might be ideologically purer, but it doesn't perform its intended function efficiently.

The real reason healthcare cost is up in the US to begin with is salary cap legislation.
Our govt. put unecissary caps on wages. As a result companies offered medical insurance as an incentive. This resulted in decades of consumers not being in control of their own healthcare hence the inflated cost today.
Look. The US healthcare system is a joke. It doesn't deliver in terms of value and coverage, and is unnecessarily cruel to those least able to afford it. Almost any change to it would be an improvement. And there are plenty of other models to choose from: Germany, the Netherlands and Australia are just a few. It doesn't have to be an all or nothing public/private thing. It really doesn't.

The UK is a modern, democratic and capitalist state with a public healthcare system. The two are entirely compatible, and work remarkably well, considering the challenge of providing healthcare to over 60 million people. And it is done at a far lower cost than the US.

The problem is an armchair anchor like many other people who seek fame and fortune and while there is nothing wrong with that, it is the method and treatment of his fellow man that has been deplorable at least.
He needs to stick to his profession in law. Not try to be the next Keith Olberman or O'Reilly. He never fact checks his sources but instead just rips from bloggers and cherry picks the info that suits his purpose.
He just wants his viewers to be angry at the Obama administration.
I've seen a lot of his citations and they seem to check out a lot. He gets personal quotes from blogs but I don't see too many authoritative quotes from blogs. Can you please cite me an example? As a libertarian I believe Barack Obama is not a good president. Lets look at facts:
He did not decriminalize marijuana yet.
He reinstated the patriot act.
He just sent 30,000 more to Afghanistan
We are still in Iraq
Iran.
His current objective is to get universal healthcare through right now.
If anything Hannel I notice more people are judging the Congress and Obama too soon and many people have already written their books on how they are failures even though they are in year one.
If anything Obama is currently following the popularity trend of Reagan.
Yeah but Reagan was unpopular for the opposite reason Obama is. Reagan chose to struggle through a recession without inflating the dollar. Then the large economic boom ensued after Reaganomics was instituted. I'm not a huge fan of Reagan but at least he kept the dollar stable. I would not be surprised if hyperinflation becomes a reality in the not too distant future.

Yes, this is true I am a 21 year old student under the URI College of Engineering, with a major in Mechanical Engineering. I also am an intern with and engineering lab. But to back to the heart of the matter, it isn't right for people who lack scientific credentials to make a scientific claim. The truth is the word trick is used commonly in disciplines such as physics, multiple types of mathematics, and all forms of engineering. This building was not hit by a plane, yet it fell the exact way as the other two buildings. And the government claims that fires somehow melted steel. The "genius" comment was to make fun of all the tfoot minions who have already accused me of being a sock because I bothered to defend someone from a witch hunt.
I'm not really a fan of HTWW -- calling himself a libertarian gives us a bad name. I just find it amusing how people who pride themselves on logical thinking toss it out the window due to personal biases.

If you paid directly for your fire service, you would be directly involved in its quality. In otherwords its like having a choice rather than being told this is what you get.
As far as not getting your fire put out because you dont have the money? That only makes sense because you're entitled to fire service wether you chip in or not right?, because we all know that people cannot be expected the take care of themselves and the govt. should do it for them.

Same thing happened in Ancient Rome.
They formed Protection Rackets and burned down the Houses of those that didn't pay violating their Property Rights.

My Fire Service analogy didn't fail, it's Historically true and the solution they came up with was exactly what they did.
We left Fire Safety into the hands of Private Enterprise and they abused the trust and violated the Rights of others to make money.
Not everything should be Government run, i'm apposed to that.
But having EVERYTHING Free Enterprise leads to this happening, why History shows us handing it over to the Government.
Their ability for profit through this method taken away.

The romans didn't have near the rule of law we have today. So yeah, a nation with primative laws and loose enforcement wouldnt work. I'll give you that.
However, in this nation such a thing would be caught immediately, made public, and brought to a stop. Fire service would still be regulated by the government if it were private.
Your fire analogy does fail because you make the assumption that rule of law doesent apply if the government is not providing the service.

The NHS provides an appropriate level of care to meet the needs of an entire country, with over 90% satisfaction levels. Other countries have other systems, some public, some non-profit private, some public and private. But it is a fact that, of the developed world, the US is the worst. It provides gold-plated service at double the average price to only those that have the means to pay for it. Those that can't get nothing. It is a disgrace.

Internationally, healthcare faces the same problem: the need for it, and the ability to pay for it are almost exactly diametrically opposed. So the problem is how to provide it, and ensure that it is adequately funded.
Ordinarily, I'd favour a free-market system such as the US'. Except that it is the least efficient, least effective and downright cruel to human beings in their time of need.
The US system might be ideologically purer, but it doesn't perform its intended function efficiently.

The real reason healthcare cost is up in the US to begin with is salary cap legislation.
Our govt. put unecissary caps on wages. As a result companies offered medical insurance as an incentive. This resulted in decades of consumers not being in control of their own healthcare hence the inflated cost today.

Look. The US healthcare system is a joke. It doesn't deliver in terms of value and coverage, and is unnecessarily cruel to those least able to afford it. Almost any change to it would be an improvement. And there are plenty of other models to choose from: Germany, the Netherlands and Australia are just a few. It doesn't have to be an all or nothing public/private thing. It really doesn't.

NICE is a national board that establishes whether new treatments are appropriate (read: cost efficient and effective) to include under then NHS.
It's a bit like an insurance company deciding what medical treatment is appropriate for the NHS to pay for, except NICE uses things like clinical effectiveness and QALY to make its decisions, whereas an insurance company is only looking at the policy conditions, and its profit.

Fabricating an irrevocable connection between a public healthcare system and a centrally planned economy is a cheap trick used to confuse those poorly educated in how healthcare is delivered throughout the world. The UK is a modern, democratic and capitalist state with a public healthcare system. The two are entirely compatible, and work remarkably well, considering the challenge of providing healthcare to over 60 million people. And it is done at a far lower cost than the US.

The problem is an armchair anchor like many other people who seek fame and fortune and while there is nothing wrong with that, it is the method and treatment of his fellow man that has been deplorable at least.

Yeah but Reagan was unpopular for the opposite reason Obama is. Reagan chose to struggle through a recession without inflating the dollar. Then the large economic boom ensued after Reaganomics was instituted. I'm not a huge fan of Reagan but at least he kept the dollar stable. I would not be surprised if hyperinflation becomes a reality in the not too distant future.
