@Mrock31 One of the hardest aspects of working in a field so completely incomprehensible to people who don't work in said field is describing it in terms that they can understand.
I can't believe so many people buy this. I'm studying Physics myself (I'm at the source as it were) and most of this is just a plain lie to support this quantumreligion. Seriously, it's not science at all people. There are some scientifically relevant questions but Wolf doesn't even answer them, he justs gives the answer to the question he wanted to answer and starts talking about his godself and so on. I really hate people who use their position or title to make others believe a lie like this.
@aerobique Firstly: even if Heisenberg said this, does that immediately mean to you that it must be true? Be critical.
Further: Heisenberg probably meant that science wouldn't even exist if we didn't exist, which is true. Human curiosity is the reason for all science. Hasn't got anything to do with no God-self.
Lastly: It's not because Heisenberg is a famous scientist, that he was always right and he didn't have any subjective opinions or anything. Not everything a scientist says is science.
I am not a "believer" or some sort of new age freak ...but ..another awesome Heisenberg quote:
"The first sip from the glass of the natural sciences makes one loose faith. But at the bottom of the glass it is God who awaits." ---Werner Heisenberg (physicist) 1901 - 1976
@aerobique Why would you bring up this new quote if you are not a believer? :P And what is the point you are trying to make with it? Maybe it helps if you formulate some sentences yourself instead of repeating other people? (not meant in a bad way, I just don't understand the reason for this second quote...)
BTW, this quote so INCREDIBLY subjective and personal that you can't expect ANYONE to just agree and accept it as (even remotely) true. He was a phycisist and he wasn't an atheist, so? :s
just an awesome quote that shows how "real" and important physicist thought about "metaphysical" stuff that usually is conveniently denied by a lot of natural scientists. No need to hyperventilate ;)
@aerobique Don't worry, I wasn't hyperventilating. I'm not saying scientists that believe in some sort of God aren't what you refer to as "real" scientists. A lot of important scientists were and are religious. But that's not my point. The point is you shouldn't use your position as a scientist to present lies as the truth. And I don't mean religion, 'cause you can't call that a lie nor the truth. I just hate it when people act as if something is science when it's 'only' a way of life.
"The point is you shouldn't use your position as a scientist to present lies as the truth. " I totally agree!
but wich "lies" you talk about? thats the question-
also "religion" and scientist like einstein or heisenberg talking about some sort of "god" or metaphysics are really two very different things- way beyond "only a way of life"
@aerobique I probably shouldn't have said 'lies' because he sort of goes around that and just doesn't speak the truth. A first thing is the conscious observer. There is no need for one at all. That is a philosophy and not scientific at all. Also, he doesn't answer the wave-particle duality question AT ALL. Why? Because for no solid reason at all he wanted to include religion in his answer. @last part: yea I was out of characters so I simplified.
"In general, he bends science to his own benefits. " He could say the exact same to you right now.

I dont think so. The problem with your "solid" scientific world view is that its not complete and just make no sense for human beeings and societies from the "meaning" aspect. Thats what these guys tackling with.
@aerobique "So philosophy is not /cant be science?"
I never said anything like that. I said it was a philosophy AND not scientific, there's no causal link.

No he couldn't. If you think he could, at least explain why.
"The problem with your "solid" scientific world view is..."
Why are you bending my words? I just said he didn't answer the question and instead for no reason starts talking about God and science and how they are both wrong. *
@BurningHeritics no one on earth at present could pull that off simply because of the doubt we all would have. However if we start today teaching the power of the mind in our schools i'm sure one day. we can start by thinking positive thoughts on a daily basis and little things will come into reality through thought
Yes. If they were smart enough they would have come up with a better plan than just going quietly and having themselves gassed. AND expecting everyone to feel sorry for them.
That was one of the major points in the documentary Alan Wolf Featured in. Miceal Edwith had a good example when he said something along the lines of "don't blame religion (for the atrocities and negative effects it has on society) blame your own insecurities which has allowed religion to flourish and has allowed so many systems of thought to emerge that are dis-empowering".
@BurningHeretics Which brings us to children who are raped and killed by adults. According to New Thought, the universe is a giant wish-fulfillment machine. Good and ill alike are brought on by individual thought. Murder victims create their fate through thought. Yes? Now, how does a four-year old think wrong?
I have a real problem with blaming victims for crimes committed against them. The holocausts of history and the crimes against children suggest New Thought is warped, immoral thought.
If the gooey is so mailable, then why or, more importantly, how was Galileo right and Ptolemy wrong? How could either be right or wrong? How can there be a wrong observation when the mere act of observing the gooey makes it prickly?
@BurningHeretics Let's test this theory. I hypothesize that based on this theory, if you step in front of a semi-truck traveling 70 mph on the freeway toward you, less than two seconds before it intersects with your place in time, as long as you believe it will pass through you, not causing any damage whatsoever to your tissues or the vehicle, it will do so. Anybody including Dr. Wolf want to test my hypothesis?
I'm pretty sure anyone survive if they knew how to do it. Put it this way a doctor says to a patient if you do XYZ you will die. He points out the facts are there in the medical books and all his colleagues agree no one has ever survived and therefore you will not survive if you do XYZ. Then the patient goes out and does XYZ and tells the doc to sit on it and spin. And Survives. You hear about this all the time. Same thing.
Can we find a way to observe without EGO? Have you tried? Can we truly communicate our non-observations to others (why would we want to for that matter?) Think the impossible. Start your own investigations.
@MechaRobi The true self was never created... but the self you identify with (aka the ego... and it's physical manifestations) yes that illusion was created by your beliefs that you are separate from the God self. So in effect... God created us by purposefully forgetting himself.
@bobjfs To express His Eternal Love... it's all taking place within His mind... nothing is truly separate from him.. but we believe we are seperate from and therefor feel cut off from that Love even though we aren't. Outside of that answer there are to others that I know of.. and these are the ones that apply to Children who veiw everything with a wonderment and awe that is appropriate for true observation... and those are... 'I don't know why! but isn't it amazing?' and 'It just is, let it be'
i never here him mention any mathematical equations or anything, it is all right off the bat theory. i would like to know of soe mathematial quantum workings that have him believeing modern physics is being pointed in this direction. all we know thi coud be lie lie and e could be making false observations, observing a sticky mess that doesn't even exist yet.
"Without an ear there is no sound in the forest." Without me, there is no world war 2 and the millions of deaths! Thanks. You confirmed my conviction that this is all mindplay by our older generation who wants us to remember their own sufferings and project it on to us. So ignorant!
Math creates world, you can bealive it or not but even God is mathematical concept , even awareness is mathematical , even free choice is mathematical...
Patterns exist. - if u call this math then math it is. I call it energy. Through its innate self expression we have all the orderings of existence. Patterns of patterns and patterns unfolding - dynamic self reflection.
But we must remember to try to distinguish the difference between the map and the territory -and the math of man is only a shadow of the living math of Logos
Every interaction is a collapse/cascade of values that proceeds according to patterns of intrinsic natural process
emotion can put on math?is not meccanism certanly nature moves meccanly but conscioness is distnct from matter the metod toget out the soul from the prison of meccanic world are call religions, been pure conscioness this dimention is not natural for us , because material energy create un uncopatable situation, infact this uncofortable esperience is call straggle for existence..haribol..
Yes, a dog, a rat, and an electron can collapse the wave function, it just takes a much longer time to do so. A human neuron collapses it approx. 40 times a second, or thats what they think. It takes something like 10 million years for an electron to collapse it, but when it does, it only has the briefest moment of "awareness"
does an electron only collapse the wave function once? or is this process unending flow? ie-it took 10 milions years to arrive at collapse but luckily it started its next collapse process instantaneously after the first process began and so from any point there is just a flow of collapse? and thus even an electron is an awareness stream.
But I still have problems believing that humans are so special just because we possess capabilities of pattern abstraction - recursive ideation.
well, first you must realize that humans are probably not the only conscious beings on this planet. just because we have a better means of describing something doesn't mean that ours is better than something else's.
The Toltecs concept of the Tonal and the Nagual works. The Tonal everything we can see, hear, and feel and the Nagual is everything else. From this prospective we are the Nagual moving in and out of materiality at the same rate the Universe vibrates. Our consciences osculates with materiality as conscienceless and thought are constant. That is why science cannot find memory in the brain because it's an extension of conscience the Nagual.
The Nagual creates each new reality at zero point.
Dr. Wolf makes way too much sense it is most likely because he listens to Alan Watts who seems to operate out of the 5th dimensional conscience. String Theory now there is a boondoggle. Shall we try everything in matter move into antimatter and back about 100,000 times a second? Now that we have that concept lets say on the way back to matter it stops at the zero point and shifts based upon the prevailing thoughts that are focused upon it.
I think he means god in a very different sense from the Christian man-in-the-sky-who-makes-rules. God as in the source of reality, the experience of action acting without resistance acting upon it, so it is instantaneously "everywhere," infinite as it is massless. Although, if there is no resistance to action, no difference, then there is no distance to be traveled in the first place, and thus no space and no time. This action could be thought of as energy without mass, ie light.
just because there is a collective consciousness doesnt mean that we all share the same part of the consciousness. putt together, all of our thoughts make up this consciousness. the consciousness does not make up our thoughts, our thougts make up the counsciousness.
Look, christians should believe "if you say to this mountain, move, it will move" but you HAVE to suspend disbelief. Illustration. I'm no christian, but I believe in the Everlastint Provider, and one day I lost my purse, looked everywhere, turned the whole house upside down. THEN i asked the EP for help and i got an instruction "look in your coat sleeve" and it was there! Inside my sleeve??? because i knew where it wasnt, but i also knew i would find it with EP's help...
Btsumm, as Dr. Wolf said in part 1, everything is God. That's everything seen and unseen, known and unknown. Following this reasoning, it is the collective consciousness that IS God. Certainly the plant, animal, mineral kingdoms are part of that equation. From a fundamental level, there's no difference, in consciousness, between you and the chair you're sitting on. Most people still have a hard time latching on to this reality, but it will happen in time. Full speed ahead! Peace.
a roach is just a comparison. the greater the ability of observation the more we influence the world around us. this include all species. but we most also remember that our thoughts are just a mere drop in the sea. also the reason why i say redefine god is because when people pray they are applying the QM theory that consciousness affect reality. so yeah in some way it is some what a spiritual thing. hence miracles are the product of unconsciously applying science to religious believes.
no i believe that what he is saying is that our reality is only possible because of our level of consciousness, and because we are higher in the scale than lesser animals our consciousness has a greater affect on the world around us than that of like hmmm... a roach whose consciousness is greatly limited compare to ours. also when he talks about the two rival creation theory's, he seams to suggest that both are just highly unlikely. i also agree that we need to redefine our concept of "God".
Ok, here is an idea, maybe this is how to prove "gooyness." Perhaps as we evolve further into observers, and perhaps we actually facilitate the big crunch and realize our oneness, perhaps if that process involves somehow "looking back" on the path their, what if the observer sees events during that process and doesn't remember it. Like during the big crunch, perhaps the observer is like "Wow, I wasn't there for that" and perhaps it would be final proof of "gooyness."
On your 1st reply you say "I told you ..." while you have not "talked" to me before.
On your 2nd reply, you are just wrong. Any scientist knows that if someone comes up with a great new hypothesis, he goes for a scientific publication and not for money-making layman publications. Any scientist can also see that all this talk does not even consist a hypothesis. Not even a description of one. I hope you can understand this, and thanks for the input.
OK, so my question was have you studied QUANTUM physics, not science.I do not know very much about QUANTUM physics but I do know that this isnt trying to make money. All there doing is explaining what they have studied for years, like it or believe it or not.But until YOU have studied QUANTUM physics you dont really know what your talking about.Ether do I but Im sure they do.How do you know in quantum physice you need an hypothesis?
I have a feeling 'God'is the original idea, creator. but because we are all one, there is no hierarchy (tangled hierarchy). This is very exciting for me because I found this out by meditating. All that the good Doc was saying can be can be accessed through meditation because it is already in the conciousness. Meditaion is the door to the subconcsious mind which is a vast storeroom. Every question is answered before it is asked.
I do beleave in God but not your description of a god..
That same doctor said that the universe was nothing, not evin space or anything, and suddenly it emerged into being something, how? as a result of an observer, now tell me what that observer is? hrmm.
I like Dr. Wolf and his ability to explain quantum physics but I feel he takes a quantum leap believing he can pass judgement that there is no personal God.
I am always amused how "experts" in one field all of a sudden become "experts" in all fields, especially theology. No matter how you cut it quantum physics still deals with the physical universe, a created universe, how does the created pass judgement on or abou the Creator.
Good job, we need to knock down the silly string theory, 10 or 11 dimensions, hardy har har...What does Wolf think of Gnosticism??

If a human collapses the wave function, then does a dog? a rat? a fly? a bacteria? an electron?
I cannot believe that WE only WE are that important.
I believe that we are made up of the stuff of the universe - energy.
A nature of this stuff is that it is innately dynamically interactive WITH ITSELF.
This self reflective property of existence IS AWARENESS.
Human consciousness is a fractal recursion of the more general ubiquitous property of the innate dynamic reactivity that is energy/ALL

It takes something like 10 million years for an electron to collapse it, but when it does, it only has the briefest moment of "awareness"
SelfComprehension 2 years ago
does an electron only collapse the wave function once? or is this process unending flow? ie-it took 10 milions years to arrive at collapse but luckily it started its next collapse process instantaneously after the first process began and so from any point there is just a flow of collapse? and thus even an electron is an awareness stream.
But I still have problems believing that humans are so special just because we possess capabilities of pattern abstraction - recursive ideation.
daveymilla 2 years ago
well, first you must realize that humans are probably not the only conscious beings on this planet. just because we have a better means of describing something doesn't mean that ours is better than something else's.

Peace.

a roach is just a comparison. the greater the ability of observation the more we influence the world around us. this include all species. but we most also remember that our thoughts are just a mere drop in the sea. also the reason why i say redefine god is because when people pray they are applying the QM theory that consciousness affect reality. so yeah in some way it is some what a spiritual thing. hence miracles are the product of unconsciously applying science to religious believes.
iceefreet 3 years ago
no i believe that what he is saying is that our reality is only possible because of our level of consciousness, and because we are higher in the scale than lesser animals our consciousness has a greater affect on the world around us than that of like hmmm... a roach whose consciousness is greatly limited compare to ours. also when he talks about the two rival creation theory's, he seams to suggest that both are just highly unlikely. i also agree that we need to redefine our concept of "God".

Why we can prove it that without observer
world is only buzzling cloud of everything?
There is some loophole????

This man has studied physics????????
it is so obvious he doesn't really understand the great discoveries and ideas he utilized to come up with this mess.
impressive!!

what you said before only has meaning if you have studied QUANTUM physics.have you?
42johnnywonton 3 years ago
I am sorry, but i cant make any sense.
I hope you can understand this, and thanks for the input.
sv1eed 3 years ago
OK, so my question was have you studied QUANTUM physics, not science.I do not know very much about QUANTUM physics but I do know that this isnt trying to make money. All there doing is explaining what they have studied for years, like it or believe it or not.But until YOU have studied QUANTUM physics you dont really know what your talking about.Ether do I but Im sure they do.How do you know in quantum physice you need an hypothesis?

Einstein once said:
"maybe there's a god within this whole physics mess"
Maybe he was right.
Then again, quatum physics proves us wrong.
So now all you need to do is suicide. Hahaha joking.
Awesome movie! 5/5! We are all connected! so let's be happy about it =D

That same doctor said that the universe was nothing, not evin space or anything, and suddenly it emerged into being something, how? as a result of an observer, now tell me what that observer is? hrmm.

i do belEAve (sic) in god" then ask what the observer is? helloooooooo
