  • but oh no you have to go off and spout on about legal action and blah blah blah. eventually your greed will kill you all. every normal person will dance on your grave, but we will also cry at the opportunity that you missed to make make music a commercially viable part of everyday life . * uck you corporations and bless the likes of this You Tube poster for posting this - this - CORPORATIONS KILL HUMANITY, INDIVIDUALS SAVE HUMANITY, ITS AS SIMPLE AS THAT

  • good to see that this posting still exists - every single previous site has been removed by you tube in response to legal copyright threat from the asshole big music corporations. when will you wnakers understand that you tube is the very best exposure you can get for marketing not only specific songs but also broader albums by whatever artists.

  • omg! can't believe this is on here!

  • I woke up with this song on my heart and mind, Ive played it about 8 times. Once I researched him, I found out he died in 1999 on this very day. Im a little spooked about that, but I LOVE this song.

  • Just dropped by again, thinking of you and your music. You stay with us - never forgotten mate. RIP, late and great guy. Noone does it better

  • a talent gone way way too soon miss you alot sherrick rip.

  • i was in high school when this dropped and i never stopped playing it!

  • Ok Im here again. Well, just cant keep away from perfection. i know this isnt the original version, but with ALL due respect to the wonderful original version.........the late and great Sherrick is one of the ultra ultra rare examples that once in a lifetime excels beyond anything imginable. Sherrick this is a tribute to you mate, never gone and certainly never forgotten.

  • Sherrick had so much still to give. But whatever happened, this is an amazing track, full of overflowing feeling - how could you not get moved to this!

  • this guy is very very talented i want to buy this album.

  • I remember getting this album on "LP Vinyl"........Yes I Know I'm and old fart. What a beautiful voice and such a sad story. Gone too soon and sadly missed. Sing it Sherrick !!!!!!

  • My mom still plays this lol

  • Periodically keep coming back to this. Its just so beautiful, beautiful voice, perfection. Im with you man, I share just some of your pain in a life that the fight for survival finally knocks it out of you

  • such a lovely Tune.. hearing the lyrics.. Baby.. I Do!!

  • @Publicity4you My name is Sherrick also. I was probably one of the first people to buy Sherrick's debut album because of the namesake and found that he was a very talented singer. I anxiously awaited more and only recently learned of his passing. From one Sherrick to a greater Sherrick, you are sorely missed my brother.

  • Complete and utter perfection

  • Couldn't agree more my friend.

  • infelismente as drogas silemciaram esta linda voz...mas nos que curtimos blacking in love...estaremos sempre com vc Sherick em nossos coraçoes...sei q vc esta longe mas ao mesmo tempo perto de nos..seu fa do Brazil

  • Sherrick was my husband Publicity4you on youtube

  • Is there any news on his unreleased material? I haven't heard from Red Diamond in a while.

  • @Publicity4you Your husband was a very gifted man with a voice that sends chills down my spine, just as it did when these records forst came out and we heard them here in Lancashire, northwest England through a great DJ called Richard Searling. I know he had his problems but he has left us with a lovely gift that I will enjoy for the rest of my life.

  • one of the best voices of 80's soul, i remeber a quote from Will Downing saying he wished he could sing like this. and Will had a very good voice. absolute talent

  • My favorite cover of this song!

  • ohh man thx for this beautiful tune....i have so much different kinda versions of this sweet track but this is definitely one of my best thx ;)

  • He was 'king awesome. Typical of the pressures that face us all, I suppose. I sure know Im struggling for survival. But I also know know that this track is a moment of perfection in time. Complete and utter harmony. Always a great man

  • wondeful voice he was a very handsome man just died too young the age of 41.

  • Word is bond, there was a video back in the days with him on a mountain or something & THIS was the song!! I'm so excited to have finally found this. I'm gonna keep digging because I know SOMEbody has to have the video. Tragic end to a EXTREMELY talented singer. He KILLED this song...

  • a great singer...

  • The original "Baby I'm For Real" is an incredible ballad,a "hands down" killer ballad.I've been in radio for 26 years, and we played this song when I was on the air in Macon,Ga. in the eighties.I said it then, and I'll say it again that Sherrick's cover of this song is one of the most incredible re-makes that no one ever heard! It never loses the original intimacy, yet he adds a "grab her by the back of her neck and tell her I love her" element to this song that is unreal! In my top 5 for life!

  • I like the original version, but this cover by Sherrick is something else!! Quite simply, a masterful vocal performance - one that I'm sure Marvin would have been proud of had he lived long enough to hear it. Did his song justice.

  • Brings back memories

  • Its a shame because there aren't many singers like these anymore. He sings this perfectly

  • Yep - this version is my fav, as well. I love The Originals. But this one is just special - so powerful - so passionate.

  • I was lucky enough to engineer for Sherrick in 85 or 86 and it was a great experience. he was really an excellent singer and a great voice. Sorry to hear he is gone.

  • This was always my favorite version. I read a disturbing article about him recently. He died in 1999 at the age of 41. Before his career started he was heavily into drugs (WHAT ELSE IS NEW IN HOLLYWEIRD). His mgr would look for him in the worst parts of L.A & drag him out of crack houses to get him ready for the studio or a performance. His mgmt team had finally had enough.

  • Very very sad. He was found dead on the beach..naked. There is a site called sherricksworld check it out. There's alot of unreleased material floating about. I posted 2 unreleased tracks sent to me by Sherricks brother in law. Check them out....

  • @daveyctvr wow thats sad!!... im going to check it out!!

  • I always thought this was the best version..i know u cant really say the next is better than the original...but with that said...this was my favorite version to listen to by far...cause he attacks the high notes.....He should`ve bubbled!!..........wow......why do old songs give u that feeling like u bout to cry?.....

  • Wow, I was just watching Sherrick on Soul Train tonight. He performed Tell Me and I decided to come to youtube to see if there was anything on him here. Sherrick had an incredible voice. I got his cd back in the late 80's and haven't stop playing it. I miss the good ole 80's and 90's. To me those decades had some serious soul musical talent. Sherrick, you are missed. Can't wait to get the new cd if its ever available. I will definitely purchase that. Love this man's voice.

  • THANKS!!! been looking for this for the longest time! WOW what trip down memory lane.............. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sherrick was my cousin. He's the reason I moved to L.A. we went to ASU together in the late 70's. I really miss him!

    Love you bro!

  • Klassic remake, just as ggod if not better that the original, makes you wanna grab her, press up on her and ...............EXHALE !!!

  • this song is very romantic and great.. Im sorry he missed...i don t know the causes of that!!

  • classic cut, an all time favourite. Thanks for brightening up my day Davey

  • Classic track davey.

Glad to know there are some 80s soul guys out there. Takes me back to nights at Parkers Hotel in Manchester, run by Expansion Records and Sunset 102 (Robbie Vincent). Also used to check out Steve Davies' show (more than just a snooker player!).

Used to play this and Just a Matter of Time by the Manhattans..Real Soul

  • @Jemusoke think you got slightly confused - Robbie Vincent was a Cockney DJ that was nothing to do with Parkers or Sunset Radio ( a Manchester Black music station : maybe your thinking of Richard Searling a Manchester Soul DJ

  • Masterful vocals from one of the most enigmatic and talented singers from that era. Just makes you glad to be alive, love it!

  • this is a classic!

  • Thanks for posting, this is one of my all time favourite love songs....Champion

  • Yes indeed. This guys voice is second to noen. Blues and Soul mag artist of the year. A album that needs a re-release if any did. Cant believe the album was deleted. Lets be Lovers Tonight and Just Call was a chunk of pure liquid gold.

  • Way do the talented always die young. Man you had such tallent and this is your very best in my opinion. None does it better. This still sends a shiver down my spine and makes me close my eyes, its just so full of emotion and power. If only you were still with us

  • One of the best male singer R&B music ever had...a real strong man with emotions... something between Teddy Pendergrass and Luther Vandross... excellent...thank for posting...the whole album of Sherrick is fantastic...

  • I usually don't like remakes but this one was fantastic! Thanks for posting I was a fan of Sherrick back in the day.

  • This song tends to remind me how tragic his loss was, what a great talent!

  • Aww Sherrick sorely missed (rip).

Who knows what might have been.

    Class of a post !

  • man this song is awesome...i remember him
