I think it's such a shame that such brillantly acted amazing storylines where destroyed, all the money gone to waste...Anybody know why/how they were wiped?
There are no telesnaps for Marco Polo ep4, Reign of Terror, Galaxy 4, Mission to the Unknown, The Myth Makers, The Daleks' Master Plan, The Massacre, The Celestial Toymaker, The Enemy of the World ep 4, The Invasion or The Space Pirates.
@Sindre1 Cura wasn't strange- his business was selling the photos to people who worked in television such as set and costume designers, directors, etc, so that in pre-video recorder days they could show examples of their work to prospective employers.
Telesnaps don't exist for all missing episodes, notably The Space Pirates, the lost episodes of The Invasion, the fourth episode of Marco Polo and all of The Massacre, and I think the second episode of Enemy of the World.
As much as I appreciated and enjoyed the animation featured in the DVD release of Cyberman story, The Invasion, THIS has feel of time travel! It looks EXACTLY like the scenes from their first story "The Daleks", at least, what it would probably look like if the original video tapes had survived, not the dubbed film copies.
I only just noticed, but I see that in your colour render, all the background is grey, I thought it curious given that the Daleks are coloured, was having it a mixture of grey/black done to reduce the render times? Great work overall though.
Nobody seems to know. Some theories say it was built so that it could fit through normal-width doorways, but the jury is out as to whether any such scene in Evil would have needed it. Perhaps it was a precaution since they knew there would be location filming in a real house?
Excellent stuff. I for some reason didn't take any notice of these telesnaps when i reconstructed this scene last year so the placement of the daleks and their shape etc was all 'wrong'. I think your recons of Evil are a lot better than the official recon of Invasion that came out of 2entertain a couple of years back.
Supposedly John Cura (or his widow) offered the BBC some of his telesnaps early on and the BBC didn't want them so many of them ended up chucked out, it was only later that DWM got a hold of some of the others. (I think)
in old news reports of the 80's (which thay still have), they show alot of fottage of the old ones that cannot be seen anymore.

If it where not for this sligthly strange person taking pictures of his TV, we would not have all these recreations of the early episodes.
What a lovely man he must have been :)

absolutely amazing!, if only the beeb took notice of people like you and we would then have a chance to see all the missing episodes completed!

Nice job. :-) Good to see the Wilkie Dalek getting some action. I modelled it myself a while back but never got round to using it.

Very nice, mate. That 'why' moment and the reaction to it is one of the greatest moments in the story, so nice to see it moving!

Stunning. Without John Cura, the sixties who's would be in a darker place.
