  • so beautiful

  • Dude, this is my favorite choir song EVER.

    @vrod7482

I get why you're saying about too much vibrato...its kinda funny to listen to

  • Soloist has to much vibrato. Other then that really fine job

  • It is down a half-step from the printed score.

  • the chorale at my school sang this. This is one of my favorite choral music songs.

  • beautiful. :')

  • My High School sang this in Florence, Italy, I'll never forget that.

  • I believe measure 31 is wrong in this version le of hallelujah is too long and jah is too short I believe

  • Our choir sang this last year, but I didn't remember that until I heard it here. This recording brings back great memories. Thanks for posting!

  • A choir that I traveled with to Europe toured with this song and we were able to preform this in St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, Italy! Truly an amazing piece especially in a space like Saint Marks. The sound... it was beautiful

  • We are singing this right now, i actually really like it.

  • The SATB version reveals a lot more of the rhythmic subtleties and interactions. Too bad the soprano soloist got excited and went sharp.

  • A beautiful version of this. I remember fondly singing it for All District Choir in St. Louis in 93-94.

  • This sounds pleasant.

  • this is one of the most fun choral songs to sing despite it being such a simple arrangement. beautiful song

  • Great performance of Parker/Shaw's great arrangement. The most amazing performance of this I ever heard was in 1990 in Zurich, Switzerland (the summer after the Berlin Wall came down). A group of college singers from eastern Europe (behind the Iron Curtain) sang at a music festival there. An American spiritual, by an American arranger, in English - hard to believe but a wonderful experience!

  • I really love this... good job! However, that male soloist had trouble on maintaining control. A vibrato that intense is usually an indicator of a lack of control.

  • such an amazing song

  • Beautiful. I love the intensity of the hushed sections and the warmth and excitement of the louder sections.

  • but still....E is easier to tune than F

  • @jregister22486 we just take it up to F#

  • This is being sung in E major-It is written in F major, a very difficult key for choirs. Choir sounds AWESOME!!!!! All parts nailed the tied dotted eighth/sixteenth rhythms which are very difficult!

  • I liked how y'all really grasped hold of the Sacred Harp style, great job!

  • was this transposed?

  • @superscout94 It was a while ago but I do recall us playing around with keys...

  • @superscout94 i also get the feeling it's transposed, it feels much lower than when I sang it.

  • @superscout94 It's a half step down from what i'm hearing.

  • @DefiningMusic Still, nice job on this!

  • My ensemble choir is singing this (:

i wish we could sound like this (:

this is the hardest song we have ever done

  • Amazing.
