@jspecialz That has more to do with the guitar you're using. Is it a baritone, a 7-, or an 8-string? Or are you just tuning a standard 6-string down extremely low? A six tuned that low will almost always sound like crap.
@didhereallysay it depends on the strings and pickups. I use my 6 string RG with 12-56 strings and it sounds great. I love it. I play it through a 5150 with a tubescreamer, and my other pedals but thats my only effect, and it has sharp, clear tones.
@TheBenlag I would say yes: For these recordings, I never had my amp cranked more than 1/4 of the way up. I'm in an apartment, so I have to keep it relatively low. So what you're hearing in this video is low volume.
@davisthurman538 I really don't know. I recorded this video two years ago. I was just messing around with the settings. Keep in mind you're hearing this as it sounds through a microphone about 3 inches in front of the sound cone. Your ears are rarely that close to a speaker, so it'll sound different when you're just playing it out.
My metal tone is waaaaaaay better than 95% of all these videos. You will never accomplish true low end with out a BOSS HM-2 Heavy Metal Pedal- (discontinued).
You don't even really need a 50-100watt amp to get it either once you put an eq box in front of your dirt box. I'm frustrated trying to find something better than what I already got and I keep finding that mine is way above average compared to all these videos. :)
@UnpacifiedResistance boss makes good distortion pedals, the best distortion pedal ive ever used to be completley honest is the boss metalcore ml-2. i havent yet found a pedal that produces as much gain as that pedal does. that and if you can afford a 3000$ amp id definatly go with a mesa/boogie dual or tripple rectifier, or a peavey 6505, if your looking for a tone upgrade check out those amps and pedal if you havent yet. but if your guna try the boss metalcore pedal id recomend an EQ pedal too
@alorislg hey thanks a lot. you never know what a metal core pedal might sound like witn an eq pedal thrown in front of it. it might soumnd better than the metal zone. who knows? but it all depends on the speaker cab in combination with amp head be it a tube or solid state and watt range with what ever settings and where you set the gain level knob. Then come the eq setting and the eq on your dirt pedal. and turning down the tone knob on your guitar too. if i didn't kran level knobs. shit sucks
@alorislg lets try that last sentence again. if i didn't crank the metal zone level knob all the way of not 3/4, IT WOULD SUCK ASSHOLE. hahahahahahaha. no wonder it don;t sound thin anymore. that was all i had to do. HOLY SHIT BATMAN!
@UnpacifiedResistance yeah im not a huge fan of the metalzone, but for my practice setup i use the boss metalcore and the danelectro fish n chips 7 band EQ if you dial it just the way you want it it sounds great..i play through a peavey amp. solid state. just for practicing in my room. but yeah the metalcore beats the shit out of the metalzone any day..metalzone has more eq options but the metalcore has a more authentic sound, and alot more gain
I have the amp and use a guitar loaded with a single EMG85 in he bridge and it sound pretty good. Would wound even better if I had a cab with better speakers.
@ZachWyat1 I'll tell you what I tell everybody: Test it out. Play a couple Slipknot riffs on it if you have a Guitar Center or other music outlet near you. For me, having the ability to try it out is essential. I'll never buy an amp if I can't try it out first. That being said, yeah this distortion's pretty nice.

@didhereallysay hmm, ok. thanks. i do like the the distortion on it, it screams metallica to me. just wondering cuz im looking for an amp that can play vintage rock. i might get it
@R3thed007 Take a look at my first video. There's a Meshuggah-esque thing I play at one point. I haven't tried an 8-string on this amp, but I would think it'll handle as fine as a 6.
@TheDangerSyn I don't know. I've never used a Gibson with this amp. I have used a Schecter and an Ibanez. The Ibanez is a bit more full-bodied, but the Schecter is more suited for metal.
@TheDangerSyn you dont need an ibanez to sound good :) its just a head with an ibanez logo. it has no idea what kind of guitar your playing so it will be great with your les paul
@Garcia3293 The question is: Is your guitar going to sound good in drop A? You need to have a guitar that can handle that tuning in order for any amp to sound good. Your tone always starts with your guitar first.
So what do you mean by "without too much mixing"? Adding anything to this recording like a BBE...or? What kind of bridge pickup are you using?
I just got this amp used and I have a question. The clean channel can be on 3 and when I switch to the Hot Channel.. it takes a volume of 5 to equal the same decible level of the clean. Can you confirm this is correct, or is my amp faulty?
@shawntmartin Nope, not adding anything in post-recording. By "Without too much mixing," I mean that I had to use a slight bit of EQ to get rid of the coloring that my mic positioning added to the sound. So, in other words, I used EQ to give you a bit more of an honest sound. It's common -- they do that in most guitar instructional videos, like in specials for Guitar World magazine.
On your volume problem... Check your gain on both channels. For the volume to be equal, the gains have to be, too
Yea, both are at 6. When I switch over to the HOT channel the volume needs to be louder than the clean to equal the same volume. Can you double check your to see? Anyway to send you a vid showing mine?
@shawntmartin You won't need a video showing that, but mine definitely does not do that. The volumes should normally correspond to the same amplitude, just like mine does.
@ryurookie I've never tried the IS412, so I wouldn't be able to give you anything on it. I can say that the Egnater Tourmaster 412 cab is great, though. Very solid birch wood, Celestion Vintage 30 speakers (good for studio), and casters that will never screw up or fall off.
@092275erik Obviously you care about them. Anyway, I'm not worried about anybody copying my tone. That's not why I won't reveal the settings. I don't like it when somebody tries to sound like somebody else they heard, so I want people to experiment rather than just dialing in my settings.
@didhereallysay no i dont care i have my own settings on a way better amp I just think its funny that you won;t reveal your settings. because i think its not a big deal.
@didhereallysay I agree with what you said, but what if someone owns this amp, and is having problems finding the right tone for the distortion setting and they come across someone doing a video with this same amp and they like the tone they hear. Shouldn't you tell them then? I own this amp, and for me, it is hard to get the distortion setting right.
@iboughtit Keep working with it! Listen to some songs by whatever band has the best-sounding guitars that you like, and then sit down in front of your amp and craft your sound once you know what you want to sound like.
@didhereallysay Is there a way to get the sound a bit dryer to get a bit more sound from "Gilded Cunt"? I have a separate guitar modeling pedal that has different amp sounds, so would that give it a possibility of getting a sound closer to "Gilded Cunt"?
@Hexendude1995 I don't know. I'm not in the business of making my amp sound like someone else's. Try out whatever you think would do the trick for you, but I really don't think I can help you on this one.
w00t! I've been courting this amp for nearly two years now, and I just ordered it. I play punk, but I'm sure I'll be able to get something great out of it.
@AnRTPgA Ah, gotcha. No, you won't be able to hear anything without speakers, so you will need a speaker cabinet to send the signal to from the amp head.
@didhereallysay - You may have already answered this and I didn't read every post but- 1) No distortion pedal? Gain from just amp? 2) What is your amp cabinet wattage rating?
@didhereallysay - That is cool bro. I've never gotten gain like that out of my TB100H. Do you use any noise reduction? I'm going to get a TBX next Friday and keep my TB100H as backup... unless I get another slant cab and figure a way to connect them via the send/return jacks to run them together in series... LOL!!!!
@didhereallysay - I dunno why. From what I've heard here, you need to play more shows. Get out and gig with that thing bro. I've had to use noise reduction with my TB100H. At the gig volume I play at, it's necessary. Thanks to your thorough review, I'll be picking up one of these next Friday. Thanks again!!
Hi! I've watched all your videos, mostly because I have the same amp. That's a pretty sweet tone you get out of it. Usually I don't really like the dirty crunch tone, but I must admit that I'm really into yours. I play a lot of Djent stuff, such as Periphery, Fell Silent, Vildhjarta etc, so my tone is more like a midrangy, low endy kinda tone. I'll be doing a review of this amp someday as well, so stay tuned, and please give me your opinion about my tone and also my playing if you want? Cheers.
@devinexforlife Thanks! I have to admit, I don't check Youtube unless I get an email that somebody posted on a video. I'm pretty busy these days, but if you write a comment on my Youtube profile, I'll remember to check out your video when you make it for sure.
great demo..ive got all tube marshall DSL100 as of now, but i used to have a marshall valvestate and i miss that solid state saturated gain, not joking, it just has more beef imo. id imagine this amp would be killer gain.
on this model it does allow you to sweep the mids? but my question is this, the hue knob if you sweep the mids will the hue knob add depth without getting muddy. by the way thanks for all the help
@youngleechow Yes, that's what the X mode does. The hue knob changed the entire overall sound bias, so it won't add or subtract to the sound -- it's more like it will change the whole sound.
Just wondering i played this head and when the gain on the X mode is pushed it has a hum or buzz to it. Would a noise suppressor take care of that problem? other than that its a great head and the cab that comes with it is pretty nice for the price.
@youngleechow Depends on how loud the buzz is. If the buzz is the same level as your guitar tone, a noise suppressor won't do anything for it. But if it's lower, it should be able to. The Ibanez cab that comes with it isn't anything special.
@didhereallysay does your ibanez head do the same thing? mind you i was playing a floor model unit so that may have been the problem. I was told to try and use the a noise suppressor in the fx loop but i have no idea if that would do anything at all.
@youngleechow Yes, the noise suppressor should do something for it. If you set your gain all the way up, you may get feedback that's just as loud as your guitar tone. If that happens, a noise suppressor would just kill your guitar tone completely.
Great Video. We really like the modern rock sound on the clean channel! What we don't like is the sound on the hot channel. Is it possible to make the hot channel sound a little more like punk-sound? Or does it have to be all metal on this amp?
@GodBeGoodmusic Punk isn't a genre I'm that familiar with, so I can't really say. I do know, however, that Ibanez isn't known for endorsing punk rock artists. That's not saying you couldn't get a punk tone out of it -- I just haven't tried.
@GodBeGoodmusic This amp is made to do metal. Any metal amp can do punk if you roll back the gain, but with this amp it would be like buying a prize breeding horse and never breeding because this amp should be playing metal only. You want to play punk, get a Marshall MG amp...
@topguitar101 Check and see if anyone's posted what kind of amps those bands use. To get closest to their sound, I would get the amps they use. I've played Born of Osiris songs with this amp before, but I don't know if it sounded at all like their distortion.
Well, I just ordered the Randall RX120RH half stack along with this Ibanez TBX150H as a backup. I should get 'em by next week. I'm pretty excited haha.
@cacguitarplayer Yeah, I saved up for a real long time. I actually canceled the Ibanez head order and got a the Dean D100 (Dimebag) head. Along with the Dean head and Randall half stack, I got a mixer, equalizer, and a Shure SM57 with stand and clip and stuff. =)
@cacguitarplayer Yeah, that's what I'm doing. I'm mostly worried about sound proofing the recording room right now without killing the acoustics. My band only consists of me and my friend right now though =(. We're both guitarists and I have to attempt to record the drums and bass which I suck at haha. We're looking to get a vocalist though. We'd be willing to work through internet until we could find a real one. (You getting the hint here? If you know a metal vocalist, let me know.
@DeathMetalAngel123 thats cool man. i know plenty metal vocalists, but probably nothing worthy of it. lol. um, as you probably figured out i play guitar. but i also can play other instruments, like trumpet, drums, the list goes on and on. if you need help with other parts just let me know.
@cacguitarplayer We might need drums. You should see if those vocalists you talked about would be interested in helping me though. It'd be worth a try...
Okay, so sorry for my douchebaggery below, but what kind of EQing did you do? A little compression can make a pretty big difference. Thanks.
I'm buying some new gear and, although I'd have about $1000 to spend, I want to spend as little as possible and get great tone. I'm sure you know how it is. Thanks.
@DeathMetalAngel123 No compression, actually. The EQing, I'm not sure of now (this video was made in December of last year). I've changed it multiple times since then. Mostly I EQ'd it into something that was clear, cutting but not grating, and full of presence. I don't recommend specific EQ settings to people, because different settings work well for different uses. example: EQ for live shows and EQ for recording are completely different worlds sometimes.
@didhereallysay Yeah, I'm against giving out or using other's EQ settings now too. It's a lot cooler to find YOUR tone and sit back and go, "Yep, that's mine.". haha. Do you mean you did EQing on the amp, or was it post recording EQ? It's cool that you actually take the time to respond to comments even though you have a lot of them, unlike some other people, and I thank you for that. By the way, how's it going with Dark Hound? I haven't heard any new stuff in a while.
@DeathMetalAngel123 The best EQing you will do will be on the amp, because that's largely the sound that you'll get if you mic the speakers. You want to have the best sound you can before you get into post-editing. And since most of the time you mic close to the speaker for metal, speakers sound a lot different up close than they do from where your ears are when you're just playing. So you have to equalize differently.
@didhereallysay Yeah. Sorry if you said this in the video, but how did you record this? I'm new to recording (not really, but kinda) and I've only recorded with the microphones that come with the Guitar Hero video game that I can just plug into my computer and hit record in Audacity. How would you record with, say, a Shure SM57?
@DeathMetalAngel123 The best way to record (digitally) is by hooking up that Shure SM57 into an XLR cable, and then hooking the cable into a recording interface like a ProTools M-Box, a Presonus Firestudio/Firebox (what I use), or something like them. That will hook into your computer and you can record with programs like Audacity or with a Digital Audio Workstation like ProTools, Reaper (what I use), Garage Band, or Logic. I used an Audix i5 mic instead of a 57 to record the audio from this.
@didhereallysay I use Audacity. So, one question, still happy with this purchase? Don't really have the "damn, shoulda got the xxx..."? Okay, thanks again man!
now, about Dark Hound -- I had to leave the band because the band is going to take it to the next level. I have a full-time job and that wasn't going to work if they wanted to tour and get signed and all that. They just recruited Evan Hensley on guitars to replace me (from Nightfall/Karmic Link). Thanks for the interest, and I'm always glad to help someone and answer questions if I can.
Hey i like your playing style, Im glad i found this review demo cause Im in a band and right now the drummer i drowning us out and this sounds perfect for what were doing. thank you very much for the demos :D
Hey man, im currently interested in buying this amp. But im looking for a really dark sound, mostly for a heavier sound for clean and hi gain guitar tone. Basically, i need something that can push heavy fucking tones. lol but with great distortion when i go up in the higher range of my guitar, would this be a good investment?
Ive ordered this amp and it seems a really good buy with 150 watt, but even though your saying it can you confirm to me it can do 16 ohm? its the only info ive been able to find about the ohms.
You know, I may just be a dumbass for thinking that two 8 ohm outs in the back mean it can handle 16 ohms. I'm gonna go ahead and admit that I was a dumbass about that. That's most likely wrong.
Anyway, now's a good time to let you and everyone else know -- get your info from many sources! Don't trust just one source or one review! I'm just a consumer who knows a little bit about the amp (not enough to be an Ibanez salesman, obviously).
@didhereallysay Dude you seem like a really cool guy! ill make a small vid myself when i get the amp just about the info of the amp.
But dude your the only source there is on the internet, ive been looking for something that could tell me about the ohms but wasnt able to find something..
@DeathMetalAngel123 With all due respect, I don't really have the time to do that for you. I work a day job and I'm scoring a film and recording a rock album with Flight Plan after work/on weekends. Also, I bought my amp from a Guitar Center, which means you can most likely go to any GC and try out the amp, same as I did before I bought it.
This sounds good! What cab are you using?

How do you think this would sound on a cab running 4 eminence Texas heat speakers? Awesome riffage brother.... \m/

@slimmetalpickin I have actually never played the eminence Texas Heat speakers, so I don't really know. Sorry man, but thanks for the compliment.

im a complete noob. so if anyone could answer my quezzie i'd be happy.
how would this imrove a normal amp on its own? and also, what should it be connected onto? what type of speaker orrr?
Mikeymoomah 1 year ago
So what do you mean by "without too much mixing"? Adding anything to this recording like a BBE...or? What kind of bridge pickup are you using?
I just got this amp used and I have a question. The clean channel can be on 3 and when I switch to the Hot Channel.. it takes a volume of 5 to equal the same decible level of the clean. Can you confirm this is correct, or is my amp faulty?
shawntmartin 1 year ago
@shawntmartin Nope, not adding anything in post-recording. By "Without too much mixing," I mean that I had to use a slight bit of EQ to get rid of the coloring that my mic positioning added to the sound. So, in other words, I used EQ to give you a bit more of an honest sound. It's common -- they do that in most guitar instructional videos, like in specials for Guitar World magazine.
On your volume problem... Check your gain on both channels. For the volume to be equal, the gains have to be, too
didhereallysay 1 year ago
@didhereallysay
Yea, both are at 6. When I switch over to the HOT channel the volume needs to be louder than the clean to equal the same volume. Can you double check your to see? Anyway to send you a vid showing mine?
shawntmartin 1 year ago
@shawntmartin You won't need a video showing that, but mine definitely does not do that. The volumes should normally correspond to the same amplitude, just like mine does.

whats is your opinion about the Ibanez IS412 ?
can you suggest me a good 412 cab for this head ?
thanks mate :)
ryurookie 1 year ago
@ryurookie I've never tried the IS412, so I wouldn't be able to give you anything on it. I can say that the Egnater Tourmaster 412 cab is great, though. Very solid birch wood, Celestion Vintage 30 speakers (good for studio), and casters that will never screw up or fall off.
didhereallysay 1 year ago
This head, or a Randall RX120RH?
Randall is a much tighter tone, but this seems to have better cleans.

092275erik 1 year ago
@092275erik Obviously you care about them. Anyway, I'm not worried about anybody copying my tone. That's not why I won't reveal the settings. I don't like it when somebody tries to sound like somebody else they heard, so I want people to experiment rather than just dialing in my settings.
didhereallysay 1 year ago 7
@didhereallysay no i dont care i have my own settings on a way better amp I just think its funny that you won;t reveal your settings. because i think its not a big deal.
092275erik 1 year ago
@didhereallysay I agree with what you said, but what if someone owns this amp, and is having problems finding the right tone for the distortion setting and they come across someone doing a video with this same amp and they like the tone they hear. Shouldn't you tell them then? I own this amp, and for me, it is hard to get the distortion setting right.
iboughtit 1 year ago
@iboughtit Keep working with it! Listen to some songs by whatever band has the best-sounding guitars that you like, and then sit down in front of your amp and craft your sound once you know what you want to sound like.

Would it sound closer to Gilded Cunt - Cradle of Filth
Or would it sound more like Of Wolf And Man - Metallica?
Hexendude1995 1 year ago
@Hexendude1995 I would lean more towards Of Wolf And Man.
didhereallysay 1 year ago
@didhereallysay Is there a way to get the sound a bit dryer to get a bit more sound from "Gilded Cunt"? I have a separate guitar modeling pedal that has different amp sounds, so would that give it a possibility of getting a sound closer to "Gilded Cunt"?
Hexendude1995 1 year ago
@Hexendude1995 I don't know. I'm not in the business of making my amp sound like someone else's. Try out whatever you think would do the trick for you, but I really don't think I can help you on this one.

AnRTPgA 1 year ago
@AnRTPgA Ah, gotcha. No, you won't be able to hear anything without speakers, so you will need a speaker cabinet to send the signal to from the amp head.

@didhereallysay - You may have already answered this and I didn't read every post but- 1) No distortion pedal? Gain from just amp? 2) What is your amp cabinet wattage rating?
Ninjaro 1 year ago
@Ninjaro 150 watts, no distortion pedal. It's all just from the amp.
didhereallysay 1 year ago
@didhereallysay - That is cool bro. I've never gotten gain like that out of my TB100H. Do you use any noise reduction? I'm going to get a TBX next Friday and keep my TB100H as backup... unless I get another slant cab and figure a way to connect them via the send/return jacks to run them together in series... LOL!!!!
Ninjaro 1 year ago
@Ninjaro I probably should be using noise reduction, but I don't play live shows enough to really need it.
didhereallysay 1 year ago

I'm pretty busy these days, but if you write a comment on my Youtube profile, I'll remember to check out your video when you make it for sure.

great demo..ive got all tube marshall DSL100 as of now, but i used to have a marshall valvestate and i miss that solid state saturated gain, not joking, it just has more beef imo. id imagine this amp would be killer gain.
surfacexmusic 1 year ago
on this model it does allow you to sweep the mids? but my question is this, the hue knob if you sweep the mids will the hue knob add depth without getting muddy. by the way thanks for all the help
youngleechow 1 year ago
@youngleechow Yes, that's what the X mode does. The hue knob changed the entire overall sound bias, so it won't add or subtract to the sound -- it's more like it will change the whole sound.
didhereallysay 1 year ago
cool thanks for the info man, by the way best demos for a head ive seen on youtube
youngleechow 1 year ago
Just wondering i played this head and when the gain on the X mode is pushed it has a hum or buzz to it. Would a noise suppressor take care of that problem? other than that its a great head and the cab that comes with it is pretty nice for the price.
youngleechow 1 year ago
@youngleechow Depends on how loud the buzz is. If the buzz is the same level as your guitar tone, a noise suppressor won't do anything for it. But if it's lower, it should be able to. The Ibanez cab that comes with it isn't anything special.
didhereallysay 1 year ago
@didhereallysay does your ibanez head do the same thing? mind you i was playing a floor model unit so that may have been the problem. I was told to try and use the a noise suppressor in the fx loop but i have no idea if that would do anything at all.
youngleechow 1 year ago
@youngleechow Yes, the noise suppressor should do something for it. If you set your gain all the way up, you may get feedback that's just as loud as your guitar tone. If that happens, a noise suppressor would just kill your guitar tone completely.
didhereallysay 1 year ago

Great Video. We really like the modern rock sound on the clean channel! What we don't like is the sound on the hot channel. Is it possible to make the hot channel sound a little more like punk-sound? Or does it have to be all metal on this amp?
GodBeGoodmusic 1 year ago
@GodBeGoodmusic Punk isn't a genre I'm that familiar with, so I can't really say. I do know, however, that Ibanez isn't known for endorsing punk rock artists. That's not saying you couldn't get a punk tone out of it -- I just haven't tried.
didhereallysay 1 year ago
@GodBeGoodmusic This amp is made to do metal. Any metal amp can do punk if you roll back the gain, but with this amp it would be like buying a prize breeding horse and never breeding because this amp should be playing metal only. You want to play punk, get a Marshall MG amp...
iscareuiknowit 1 year ago
could this amp put out a deathmetal sound such as whitechapel and born of osiris also any band that uses 7 strings Heavily.
topguitar101 1 year ago
@topguitar101 Check and see if anyone's posted what kind of amps those bands use. To get closest to their sound, I would get the amps they use. I've played Born of Osiris songs with this amp before, but I don't know if it sounded at all like their distortion.

@DeathMetalAngel123 wow! haha i want to look into buying a jamhub for me and my band.
cacguitarplayer 1 year ago
@cacguitarplayer Yeah, that's what I'm doing. I'm mostly worried about sound proofing the recording room right now without killing the acoustics. My band only consists of me and my friend right now though =(. We're both guitarists and I have to attempt to record the drums and bass which I suck at haha. We're looking to get a vocalist though. We'd be willing to work through internet until we could find a real one. (You getting the hint here? If you know a metal vocalist, let me know.
DeathMetalAngel123 1 year ago
@DeathMetalAngel123 thats cool man. i know plenty metal vocalists, but probably nothing worthy of it. lol. um, as you probably figured out i play guitar. but i also can play other instruments, like trumpet, drums, the list goes on and on. if you need help with other parts just let me know.

@cacguitarplayer We might need drums. You should see if those vocalists you talked about would be interested in helping me though. It'd be worth a try...
DeathMetalAngel123 1 year ago
Okay, so sorry for my douchebaggery below, but what kind of EQing did you do? A little compression can make a pretty big difference. Thanks.
I'm buying some new gear and, although I'd have about $1000 to spend, I want to spend as little as possible and get great tone. I'm sure you know how it is. Thanks.
DeathMetalAngel123 1 year ago
@DeathMetalAngel123 No compression, actually. The EQing, I'm not sure of now (this video was made in December of last year). I've changed it multiple times since then. Mostly I EQ'd it into something that was clear, cutting but not grating, and full of presence. I don't recommend specific EQ settings to people, because different settings work well for different uses. example: EQ for live shows and EQ for recording are completely different worlds sometimes.
didhereallysay 1 year ago
@didhereallysay Yeah, I'm against giving out or using other's EQ settings now too. It's a lot cooler to find YOUR tone and sit back and go, "Yep, that's mine.". haha. Do you mean you did EQing on the amp, or was it post recording EQ? It's cool that you actually take the time to respond to comments even though you have a lot of them, unlike some other people, and I thank you for that. By the way, how's it going with Dark Hound? I haven't heard any new stuff in a while.
DeathMetalAngel123 1 year ago
@DeathMetalAngel123 The best EQing you will do will be on the amp, because that's largely the sound that you'll get if you mic the speakers. You want to have the best sound you can before you get into post-editing. And since most of the time you mic close to the speaker for metal, speakers sound a lot different up close than they do from where your ears are when you're just playing. So you have to equalize differently.
didhereallysay 1 year ago
@didhereallysay Yeah. Sorry if you said this in the video, but how did you record this? I'm new to recording (not really, but kinda) and I've only recorded with the microphones that come with the Guitar Hero video game that I can just plug into my computer and hit record in Audacity. How would you record with, say, a Shure SM57?
DeathMetalAngel123 1 year ago
@DeathMetalAngel123 The best way to record (digitally) is by hooking up that Shure SM57 into an XLR cable, and then hooking the cable into a recording interface like a ProTools M-Box, a Presonus Firestudio/Firebox (what I use), or something like them. That will hook into your computer and you can record with programs like Audacity or with a Digital Audio Workstation like ProTools, Reaper (what I use), Garage Band, or Logic. I used an Audix i5 mic instead of a 57 to record the audio from this.
didhereallysay 1 year ago
@didhereallysay I use Audacity. So, one question, still happy with this purchase? Don't really have the "damn, shoulda got the xxx..."? Okay, thanks again man!

@DeathMetalAngel123 Yeah, still happy. I know there's better out there, but not for only around $200. You know?

now, about Dark Hound -- I had to leave the band because the band is going to take it to the next level. I have a full-time job and that wasn't going to work if they wanted to tour and get signed and all that. They just recruited Evan Hensley on guitars to replace me (from Nightfall/Karmic Link). Thanks for the interest, and I'm always glad to help someone and answer questions if I can.

Hey man, im currently interested in buying this amp. But im looking for a really dark sound, mostly for a heavier sound for clean and hi gain guitar tone. Ive ordered this amp and it seems a really good buy with 150 watt, but even though your saying it can you confirm to me it can do 16 ohm? its the only info ive been able to find about the ohms.
Volbeatownzuass 1 year ago
You know, I may just be a dumbass for thinking that two 8 ohm outs in the back mean it can handle 16 ohms. I'm gonna go ahead and admit that I was a dumbass about that. That's most likely wrong.
Anyway, now's a good time to let you and everyone else know -- get your info from many sources! Don't trust just one source or one review! I'm just a consumer who knows a little bit about the amp (not enough to be an Ibanez salesman, obviously).
