There are ten nations in the world that grant full marriage rights to all of their citizens: the Netherlands, Belgium, Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Canada, South Africa, Spain, Portugal and Argentina. Israel has de facto same sex marriage, for it recognizes unions performed in other countries. The same applies to Mexico, for all states there are required to recognize marriages performed in Mexico City. The United States will soon find itself amongst this enlightened group.
The specious assertion that countries and states will be legalizing bestiality, incest and polygamy should they legalize same-sex marriage has been shown to be totally false. Not one country or state that has had same-sex marriage has gone on to legalize any of these things, not one. So, that is just one more piece of hateful, lying propaganda.
And, I'd like to point out that if there are any gay people watching this who are considering going into any kind of "ex-gay" program to change your orientation (which scientists say CANNOT be changed), I'd recommend you first visit this website: beyondexgay com
This is nonsense. If people are worried about polygamy, why not ban heterosexual marriage? Polygamy is a heterosexual LIFESTYLE CHOICE. Being gay is neither a lifestyle nor a choice. Comparing the two concepts of marriage is illogical. Also, marriage between an adult male and girls as young as nine is currently legal in Yemen. Where's the outrage about this form of HETEROSEXUAL marriage?
Forgive me, listnut but I think you've erred in your own comparison. You say that "polygamy is a heterosexual lifestyle choice but being gay is neither a lifestyle or a choice. The only reason you come to that conclusion is because you're making a false comparison (ie- a sexual orientation (homosexuality) with a type of marriage (polygamy).
The truth is that ALL MARRIAGE is a lifestyle choice, whether it is traditional marriage, polygamous marriage or gay marriage.
If you're concerned about the parent to child ratio... I am also concerned about it, because we have limited resources (education, healthcare, etc). For example, we could charge a tax penalty for a female who has more than 3 biological children. And give tax credits to anyone who adopts a non-biological child. However, biological-parent-to-child ratio is a completely separate issue from polygamy. Don't conflate two completely unrelated things just because they are sometimes seen together.
The government's role should be to protect individual rights. The government should not be involved in dictating what personal relationships between informed consenting adult individuals should have... Or wrongfully imprisoning someone over a backwards primitive morality law.
the main reason why polygamy is illegal is because sometimes mormons break off into radical sexts that marry underaged children to middle aged men who have many wives. Usually in these sects if becomes all about the number of offspring you have symbolyzing your fertility, your faithfullness to God. when it gets to that point within the sect the way in which women and children are treated changes.
what happens to them when he takes a third wife, then a fourth? Some of these polygamist have nine wives, over a hundred children, and when they die unless they are millionaires they are left with nothing, to fend for themselves.
human beings know how to lie to themselves and make it sound legitimate...this is so sickening as if this is what a loving family looks like and yes I grew up in a home with Lesbians believe me it was not loving anything but...
@lucy9359 wow why don't they have people like you speak out however I doubt they would think you were legit, they'd make the excuse that you were making things up or something.
