@jackdaknife For me a "hardcore" gamer is a gamer who can play any genre and be good at it. I'm not bad at FPS for someone who has never owned a FPS game in her life, but I kick ass at everything else. RPG,action,hack and slash, MMO, adventure, sports, racing, casual, etc. A hardcore gamer doesn't focus on one genre, they kick ass at everything.

A hardcore gamer picks up the controller for a game he/she has never played before and kicks ass because of all prior gaming experience :D

@PANDORRAAAA I own at most genres, but I never got into the fantasy side of it all, I played WoW for a few months and quit, I like strat games, anything from Command and Conquer to browser based Erepublik. I stand corrected though, hardcore gamers must be able to play most genres. I guess I just focus on the FPS because of the kid in me :D
