If the movie was called A Glorious Bath Turd, then I might go see it, cause it sounds reminiscent of Caddyshack. Otherwise, I am not a big fan of that manic weirdo.
Never. I don't think he's made a solid movie since Pulp Fiction (and I'm kind of a Jackie Brown apologist - or at least a Robert Forster fan). But even JB does not hold together on repeated viewings - every time I see it I like it less.
P.S., I think that if a lot more of QT's die-hards fans were more literate, they'd see the heavy--and I mean heavy--influence of Elmore Leonard in all his films. All of EL's books in 3rd person POV are really 1st-Person narratives woven into the 3rd-person voice. QT transliterates this device cinematically (again, pastiche), and is heralded as a genius. This is fine, but if you notice, his ego is so big, he doesn't want to give props to E.L. I find QT's work more and more shallow, unoriginal.
I think it was too long & talky, but there's also lots of good scenes & performances.... So overall I think it was good entertainment! But I respect your review!
You guys seemed pretty down in this one. I hope this is not indicative of the Film Pigs quitting review vlogs. I hope you 3 keep making these vids as long as you can. I watch them pretty religiously and you make me realize I'm not crazy when I think a movie is awful. I love your commentaries!
I thought Inglourious Basterds was very good. People may talk a lot in the film, but it always either a) reinforces character or b) motivates the plot. There were definitely some weird problems with it (most prominently, Eli Roth's inability to act) but I liked it.
They've stopped remakes so American audiences don't have to read, now remakes are so Americans don't have to hear any accents. The British -- and, thusly, ENGLISH LANGUAGE -- film Death at a Funeral is being remade by Chris Rock.
I guess we'll just have to disagree. I didn't think anything important was gleaned from scenes like the shoe fitting, which just repeated the setup from the first scene in the movie without any of the suspense (and I do think the first scene of Basterds is really good - it just goes downhill from there for me).
Good observation on remaking a movie to remove accents. This is the kind of nonsense that happens when soulless corporations are making creative decisions.
Gosh, that movie sure seemed to bring you guys down. Sorry to hear that.
I didn't even know they were remaking Let the Right One In. Why? Apparently they're also remaking films like Hellraiser, the Birds and the Thing. For God's sake, these people have no creative ability whatsoever, they have to use other classic films' storylines.
Ah well. Funny, somewhat-dismal vlog. Thank you for the quick update this week.
Well once again you guys don't care for a movie that I loved (I thought the 2.5 hours went by very quick) however the review is funny as always...so yeah...that's how that goes
Even though you played the dicky english teacher that jacked Silas Botwin, I enjoy seeing you as yourself. Thanks filmpigs :) Where is Stephan? Did you ditch him for this flick? Shame.
some asshole gave you guys 1 star, probably some Tarantino sucking fan boy who thinks he's a genius and this film is a Masterpiece. I brought it back up , good review guys.
yep. "I was bored." Stop

I haven't seen it yet, and I hated the fuck out of Kill Bill. I'm wondering when he's going to make original movies that aren't pastiches.

No Eli Roth rant, Todd? I don't mind Roth so much but he flat-out sucked ass in this picture.
Worst remake: ROB ZOMBIE'S JOHN CARPENTER'S WHITE TRASH HALLOWEEN JAMBOREE
