SR40'sand Sr9's Are Sexy Beast!!! Traded my Glock 23 Gen 4 (Big Disappointment) and Springfield XDm ( Poor Sight Alignment) for 2 Rugers!!! I have plenty of change to buy a year supply of ammo. What more can you ask for??
I just love my SR9c, I purchased an XDm 45 comp. about the same time. The trigger is so much nicer on the SR9c than the trigger on the XDm comp., the XDm has so much overtravel it's rediculous, it's like a two stage rifle triger.I shoot the ruger just as accurately out to 15 or 20 yards because of this.
thinking abt this ..i am a leftie and noticing that it has ambidextrous mag release also. one quick question...does it have the feature where it automatically engages the slide when u insert a new mag like the m&p 9? certainly seems slimmer and ligher than the m&p 9, and m&ps are seeming to have a firing pin problem
what I did with my 17 round mag was put a tiny drop of clear silicone to hold the "gap filler" in place. Just a tiny amount will totally hold it in place and if you want you can get it off in the future.
you actually reminded me of another "Doh!" moment. Several years back I bought an Uzi tritium watch. I ended up getting a Luminox a few months later and sold the Uzi on ebay. Being budget conscientious is on thing, but thrifty can come back to bite you.
Great review! I really like it! My first gun was a Ruger P95dc and it was a solid gun and cheap. It never gave me problems. Now I have a LCP and it is too small. I love that I can put it in just about any pocket, but i don't like the trigger and it is very snappy and doesn't feel solid. I've looked at the Glock which no one can deny its reliability and quality, but it doesn't quite feel right in my hand.
Looking at the comment below Ill check your LC9 review, which is another consideratio
@HYBRIDCOMBATIVES: it fires very well, but I was a little put off by the polymer quality. I would still recommend this gun to someone who wants cheap and quality 9mm.
@PersonalGeek indeed. There has always been at least a slightly off aspect of Ruger Autos. They hover right around the fringe of affordable tolerance and higher end junk. BUT with far better options existing why would one bother with them. In what scenario would someone prefer a SR-9 over an XD/XDm or a M&P given Ruger's previous junk? makes no sense to me.
@HYBRIDCOMBATIVES: I actually traded in an XD9 for the SR9 and then ended up trading the SR9 in for a Glock 19 Gen 3. lol
My advice for anyone considering a pistol... save the extra $100-$150 and get a higher quality weapon. I have been nothing but happy with my G19! It handles +P ammo like a champ!
@aw3212 other than Ruger's track record of producing inferior handguns of the "p" series variety? How about those very handguns failing most law enforcement requirements because they were not drop safe? how about the fact that ergonomics played a very little part in the design engineering of those weapons? how many do you see in the competitive range? How many Uspsa / IDPA shooters use them compared to Glock / SA XD / S&W M&P.? Yes it is an Entirely personal view from over 20 years experience.
@HYBRIDCOMBATIVES so it begs the question...why are you watching a video on the RUGER Sr9c if Ruger is such an inferior, bottom feeding, non-competitive manufacturer? I'm sure the very elite in the gun community like yourself will stay away from this horrible, almost embarrassing product. I can only pray that you are not exposed to the likes of us lowly EDC folks looking for an economical way to defend ourselves and our family.
@HYBRIDCOMBATIVES LOL, did you read your first comment? Pot, kettle, black... ok, I'm done, if you want the last word go for it. My last word is: I think the SR9c is a NICE F'N GUN!
i love the safety locks, i dont think its much of a problem with any weapon, you should be practicing with the weapon that you have and learn how to use and maintain it
I used to own a p95 and I gotta say, Ruger really does make some great guns. I no longer own weapons, but if I got back into it, I would give this pistol a serious look.
i really liked the pinky extension at first but after cc for a few weeks i took it off just bc of the major printing it gave. I found it much more concealable w/o it. Great vid!
@pitolove71 - I just looked it up, and you're quite correct. In fact, Ruger firearms have won this award from the Shooting Industry Academy (Handgun of the Year) for the past three years in a row.
@tubevideoguy762 while it is a subcompact, it would not effectively fit in your "average" pocket, however it will fit in large pockets and most coat pockets. (its my carry gun)
i like the thumb safety on the sr9c and you only need to practice with it until it becomes 2nd nature in you to swipe the lock down when you draw the weapon. Not much of a transition if one is accustomed to using glocks.
Great review man. I've really been stuck between this and a Kahr cw9 or 40. The safety thing was what was making me lean towards a gun like a Kahr or a Glock. Your review is the only one I have watched so far that covers the safety issue objectively and shows the function of the safety well. It doesn't seem like its as big of a deal as some have made it out to be. I will be buying an SR9C next week.
I got one today. great gun. just take so much more time than usual to break it down. they say you shouldnt dry fire this? well what do you do after to put it back together you have to reset the trigger.
Great review. I'm 100% sure that i will be going with the sr9c as my carry weapon. But I just have a quick question. Is there any way of buying additional magazines with the pinky extender? Ive looked a bit myself. But cant seem to find anything. I would appreciate any help with this. Thanks...
I agree it's a great CCW option. For the price, it's the best out there in its class. It's a real joy to shoot and to carry. With regard to the mag sleeve, I agree that in an emergency, it would be great to have it secured down. However, since I own the full size SR9 as well, I like having the option to use that as a spare mag for the full size.
great video for someone like me that's new,I'am a freelance photographer looking for a gun because I go to some pretty bad areas .

I like the safety, you'll hear a click as I draw so I don't see how that alone will get you killed if you train to disengage it while drawing.
Moonfood78 3 months ago
Does your recoil spring stick out a bit after cocking? I push it back in place but I hate to put my fingers near the barrel while doing so.

Just bought one just like it. Will shoot it tomorrow.

Great accuracy! and a great pick if you want a carry weapon with 16 rounds!
I love this gun.

Great gun, but the marring on the underside of the trigger guard is really annoying and noticeable.
PersonalGeek 4 months ago
@PersonalGeek it is bottom of the barrel where polymer, striker fired weapons are considered. Glock / M&P / XDm are all superior designs.
