Hey Dave I notice even on a bolt on you work on it with the neck on.I was doing a fret level the other day removed the neck there where no shims,the neck was off about 24 hours.Now I bolt it back up and the action at the point where the neck meets the body is more than twice what it was,the bridge saddles are bottomed out already and the neck is straight,I have no choice but to shim it now,its just got me scratching my head.Also do you release tention on the nut if the strings are off awhile?

full fret levelling for a bolt on requires removal

polishing and cleaning not needed to be removed

if strings are off I adjust the neck straight

some do not need it others do
