Listen people, enough of all the "Police Interceptor's can go 140+ mph." stories. 3.27 geared PI's are governed at 129 mph, 3.55 geared PI's are governed at 120 mph. The only standard Police issue vehicles that are capable of going 140+ mph are the 3.9L Impala's (governed at 142 mph) and the 5.7L Hemi Charger's (governed at 148 mph). Even the Hemi Magnum Police cars are governed at 131 mph. I get all this info from the Michigan State Police Force, so these are facts.

ahh..well yea, the spedo pegged at 140, but the engine was barly reving, so i kept on going, and i was going for like a good 15 seconds untill i heard the engine hit the dam rev limiter and it scared the shit out of me so i let off the gas and it took a good 3ish seconds for it to back down before it read the 140 mark, and i figured it was around 160-170 because it took 3ish seconds for it to go from 140-120 where i just cruised for the remainder of the night..so i figured that 10mph per second.

it gets that good of mileage because it has a lower rear end ratio designed for higher speeds..so no..im not full of shit..you can also get that good of mileage if you don't drive it like your soposto, which I do because I got all the driving fast out of me when I had the other crown vic...if you drive it like the car was built for it you get 16mpg. oh and stock crown vics have 224hp and 240 for the sport...the P71 package has the sport exhaust(2 less mufflers) and no intake sound resonators.

actually his car was just MAJORLY striped out...like I'm sure his car maybe weighed 2300lbs with the driver. I checked out his car in the staging lanes after the race,its a SOHC 1.6L VTEC D16, but with some internal mods/bolt ons and the interior completly striped, like no carpet, dash( just a spedo and tach), and 1 seat. the guy said he was pushin like 200 Wheel HP, which is respectable for a little 4 banger.

the guys Honda didn't even have any heater vents, it was just litterly a empty striped out dash board with just the instrument cluster, all the heating ducts where removed along with the center controls. looked almost like a pro dragster minus a roll cage but the guy did have a 4 point harness which is a good because those will really save ur ass

I do believe its exhaust and intake differences, i know the P71 normally comes with a the crown vic sport which has a slightly higher flowing mufflers and no rear resonators. and the intake is more a of a straight shot from the airbox to the throttle body rather than on 03 its got a little kink in the intake tube. also i think they do something with the computer tuning and such.

A police interceptor is a P71. the P71 is just the vin code that identifies it as a police interceptor, just like an lx/s would be a p74, base model would be a p73, and the longer wheelbase version would be a P70...the intake "Zip" tubes flow the same amount of are between an 03 and an 04, its just a little bit of a design change. the Extra power comes from the larger air box and MAF sensor in the 04's. the exhaust is all the same through out the years....

The 04's have the Marauder style intake. The tube really has no effect on the HP. The 80mm MAF along with a Knock Sensor allowing for better tuning. The MAF is what is giving the most gain Combined with a tune.

um, try summit racing, I got some stuff from them. they have good service and alot of parts, also the parts are less expensive than other places so that's a plus. for bolt-on stuff a exhaust system and cold air intake and computer programmer are a good start, the rear gears in the P71 are designed for a higher top speed but if u want more off the line a set of 3.73 or 4.10's would be nice

Also nothing beets custom. So if you have to have something done, just do it ur self..nothing has that feeling like doing something your self and it coming out beautiful. also if you are looking for a little more power, I'm not sure , but I've heard that some of the aftermarket 4.6L intake plenum spacers and larger ones, along with the bigger throttle body's will work. I see no reason why it wouldn't, its all all 4.6L V8. also I'm sure any other 4.6L part would work, as long as the

intake is facing the right side..i mean that literally the right side, because if u see the throttle body faces the right side and so i only see intake mods being different that say a mustang where the throttle body faces the left. okay so recap on all of this lol.

but say like the down pipe and crossover pipe will probably have to be custom done up..but any muffler or performance shop could do that for you. My exhaust was just from where the back 2 catalytic converters where ( i took them off so I only had 2), all the way back to some summit mufflers then i had it exit via the stock tail pipes ( i was being cheep.lol..and I only would have gotten maybe 3-4 HP more by putting new tail pipes...not worth the extra $100 they wanted to do it.

oh and a good muffler shop should only charge about $100-150 for doing what I did..Mine was $125 for what I did...A full exhaust like from the cat back with if u supply your mufflers should cost you about $150-200 at the most.

na,not really.lol...all you have to do is find a good used cop car that has been maintained and a good test drive will tell you of any signs of problems. It's a really nice and fun car to own. It's gone and sold now, wish I still had it, but it got sold when gas was $4 a gallon and even at 20mpg city/27 highway (that's due to the gears because of the cop package)..even that wasn't good enough. especially since my saturn I'm only getting 30mpg on my daily commute. and I got 23 in the crown vic

pros -FAST -no one messes with you on the road -GOOD gas millage (20ish average) -comfortable to drive -fun as hell ( does donuts all day long) -you can pass a cop car going 90 in a 60 -handles AMAZING with a good set of tires -find them CHEEP ( $4-8k) -usually find them with around 40-60k miles on them Cons -people think your a cop and go hella slow -people think your a cop and key your car,its happened a few times -ITS BIG,kinda hard to maneuver around tight areas -Cops abused their cars

You mean 27mpg. I got that on my trip to port orchard. Its actually not that hard..just dont rev the motor out too much.I remember peeling-out from a few turns but only just a few times.The drive was mostly back road driving with not alot of cars so i didn't do alot of stop and go. Also I have a K&N air filter, computer programming and some no-name muffler shop special high-flow mufflers. Those things prob increased my gas millage by a few. Also your 99 is actually different than an 03.

Yea in 03 they changed a few things in the Crown Victoria's . The shocks are placed different they added a few other coolers.etc etc.

but a few cheep tips to improve your gas millage are

-K&N air filter($40, get like 1-2 more MPG, and you never have to replace an air filter)

-Keep up the maintenance( VERY IMPORTANT)

-Don't drive it like a maniac( I know its hard.lol)

-If you have the money, get a computer programmer, thats like another 2MPG and like 20-30HP more.They are average around $250

oh yea..sorry. i meant to type 300LB torque but i must have hit the 4 key on my way over to the 0 key. and it has a little bit more under the hood than listed btw :P... i like to keep it secret. But it should have around 300 LB torque with the chip and mild exhaust system.
