You might want to move your kit away from that angled wall a bit because it looks like you are almost hitting you head!! also you are hunching over a bit.. so moving the kit would give you a bit of head room so to speak...
very good cover! You might try stepping on the hihat on the ride parts like the chorus or the tom fills to get a more solid beat, specially when not playing with feedback, that helps a lot to stay on the beat! cheers
lol dude, it seems like it would be really hard to do a roll the whole way around your set, with the two rack toms sitting up that high at that angle... but whatever works for you lol. i know everyone has their own setup that works for them. i just like to have my toms lower and angled a little bit more than yours. nice set btw
Hey man. I was wondering whether you'd check out my video of this and tell me what you think. Its a live video with my band. I actually used your video to help me learn parts of the song... as you can see, the last comment was me. But yeah, I'd really appreciate it if you let me know what you thought of it.
I recorded this with an Alesis AM11 over the toms, an SM58 on the floor tom, an SM58 on the snare and a PG52 in the bass drum. These were connected to my Mackie DFX12 and then into my AK1 soundcard and recorded in Audacity. I now use 3x SM57s, a Beta52, the AM11 & the PG52 on the floor tom.
I really like your technique, equally your kit and mostly your cymbal choice - but I think you're wasting your skill on anonymous genres. I recommend you look around at other stuff, that allows more freedom for expression on drums ... try some jazz stuff, small ensemble and the like. Stanton Moore, is somebody I'd mention. Just some contrasting genres would help you immensely
Dude, play what the hell gets you off. If the Foo Fighters are that, then go for it.
I appreciate jazz, but despise the Jim Jones jazzheads who look down on anything not jazz.
There are plenty of opportunities for 'freedom of expression' in rock music. There are many great drummers playing with technique of great complexity yet still have elements which make rock cool music to play, elements that jazz lacks.
In the end, play what sounds good to you and have fun.
Fair point. don't judge me by my retarded youtube username, it was the only thing i could think of :P I hate the Jim Jones type too. And I've never "gotten off" drumming, literally anyway ... yet. :D yeeeeeeeeeeeeeah
two things, u prolly know the first, u missed the bell in that fill at the begging, also u need to accent ur snare just a little more.

I might get the new classic in nitron glass 10/12/14/22 + the 16 inche floor tom.would you recomend this set?
swisherboi 2 years ago
I certainly would recommend it! Looks amazing and sounds amazing. The tom mounts are really good as well.
I'd love a 16" floor tom for mine but individual drums cost a fortune. If you can, go for it!
petetheweed 2 years ago
ahh yes the shure SM58's and the Beta52, best drum mics i ever invested in,
never let me down,
