I used to be a big fan of Coogan when Partridge was on R4 (the day today), and the early ones when Patrick Marber was also writing. He sadly became a victim of Partridge and will never recover from it in the UK. Its a shame, because like some of the others say, he has a broader rep than Gervais, who I think is a 1 colour rainbow (cynical sneering characters). I think Coogans comparison with Cleese is accurate. Cleese can never leave Basil, Coogan can never leave Alan.
