i have an hd pvr and my comp cable doesnt have a switch on it and i try to click 1080i and it does the same thing that happened in the video and idk how to make it 1080i without a switch. PLEASE HELP!!
i figured it out myself a few minutes ago.. .check it out..
first make sure the switch is on tv
make sure your component cables are plugged in... next click the 720p..that message will come up and as soon as you click yes ..set the switch to hdtv an ur done
@reubenmafia Thanks dude......i had the same promblem!!!!! Good looken i didnt want 2 go buy a new cord when i had 1 already...lol....call me cheap but im n hd now i dnt give a fk!!
easy fix, 1. do you have the proper component cables it should be like 5 connected to the back of the tv. and 2. there is a switch on the part of the cable that connects to the xbox. switch that to HDTV then try setting up again and you are good to go.
There's a switch on the A/V Cable Connector that toggles between standard definition and high definition. Make sure it's toggled toward HDTV, then try it again.
If you get a black screen or no input after doing this, then your TV doesn't support HD, and it is impossible to play at anything above 480.
Hello can anyone tell me how to get for xbx in system display 60 HZ my tv supports that but xbox just takes 50 HZ.I am using HDMI cable 1080p and toshiba Tv anyone knows this solution thx
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF TIVO CAN RECORD XBOX360, IF YOU DO CAN YOU PLEASE LINK ME TO A VIDEO OR MESSAGE ME PLEASE, I WILL SUBSCRIBE TO YOU ON 3 ACCOUNTS THANKS!
Ok I have the component and they have all six Cables I plug them in correctly (Except for the yellow one) My TV has the support in the back for all the cables. I switch to video 1 no display I switch to video 2 no display so I switch to video 3 and it shows up for a split second then disappears. Can someone help me?
ok first u need to know that your tv can support 720p, 1080i or 1080p if not it will go back to 480p. second you need a hdmi or a component cable "that is the xbox cable with 6 plugs at the end" connect all the plugs expect the yellow one to your tv , next switch the button on the component cable from tv to hdtv. third turn your xbox360 "on" and search for your signal in component channels. finally go to the setting and set the resolution that u like if possible go with 1080p.
ok, I had my setting to 1080i and i had HD at that setting, I try to set it at 1080p and now, my tv gets no signal from HDTV settings only normal TV setting, please someone reply to a fix for this issue. On how to put it back so i can use 1080i again. I put it normal TV and xbox works but no HD and I say to switch it to 1080i again but says HDTV cabal disabled cuz the switchy thing.
Right, my TV is HD ready, as it says on the front. On the back there is no RGB just scart, PC and DVI. I have a HD composite cable but whenever i try to RGB it to the scart, the picture is green and skewed.
@mxtra22 ya same dude, i had 1080i had my fricken HD, went to try out 1080p and my screen says no signal now for HDTV and can only play normal detail now, do you have help for this anyone?
@capado1 Man I fixed it. I am such an idiot. I was trying it using the AV's. All i had to do was use the components. Try to switch ur tv to either component one or two and try it.
Ive tried this on a couple of diff hdtvs. Everytime i switch it to hdtv on the adapter the tv goes blank. My xbox doesnt have the hdmi cable unfortunately.
@initiald22 Nope. It can't handle 1080p if it's a 720p. 720p = 720 pixels wide. 1080p = 1080 pixels wide. If your tv is 720p it doesnt support more than 720 pixels from side to side but, yeah, it SAYS 1080p. Isnt 1080p though. Too bad
fuck im freaking out you know how xbox has a switch on the wires that says tv and hdtv well im buying an hdtv and i wanna put it on hd cause it makes a difference right?????
I have everything done right like it says in the manual for the HD settings. I have a 62 or 72 inch Samsung TV, and I have all the things set up properly, the thing is switched, the HD cables are plugged, and the sound cables are plugged in too, but every time I turn my TV on and every time and switch components, nothing comes up on my TV, no sound, no picture, nothing...
Your Cable that you're using must be broken or damaged. If you have the 360 Cable set to "HDTV", then you should be able to pick 720p, 1080i,1080p. It says you have it set to TV mode, and you say, you have on HDTV mode, so the cable must be broken
After the dashboard update my tv goes blank for about 1-3 seconds and then comes back on again. This only happens once in a while. I got an elite using a hdmi cable. I think i must have changed something in the console settings under display. Can anyone help
dude i did it buy looking at somebody's else online and figure how many times i had to press the trigger and how many times i had to scroll. it's basically changing it blinded folded. listen to the sounds. good luck
ok the reason it went black is because my tv couldn't handle it, so i needed to change the settings back. but one problem, i was THE SCREEN WAS ALL BLACK!!. so i basically needed to do access the options blinded folded. counting how many times pressed the analog stick. i recommend you use the internet to see how to get to the options or go to a friends and watch them start their 360. if this didn't help u could reply to be so i could personaly give u the directions.
can u tell me how to connect your xbox360 to the HD TV plz tell me becuz i can't even connect it and u can so if u could can u make a video plz thx 5/5 and a sub if u make a video
plug in all the cables except for one i think its the yellow, then turn the switch to hd and then try changing it to 720 or whatever your tv is, worked for me, good luck!
Yeah, the problem could be how you hooked your cables up maybe? I believe the red, yellow and white ones are for standard definition, red blue and green are for high definition.
If that doesn't work, the only other thing I could think of is you might not have the HD DVD player.
I got my Xbox today and i have it set up with a HDMI cable and a Power lead only. How can i get it too 1080p? Too be honest it looks really sucky now.
The only way to get it to 1080p (like i do yay!) is to get a newer model HDTV and get HD cables you know the green blue and red then go to system settings and change it!
480p is much better than 480i, no more small text, or screen cut offs with 480p. 720p and 1080p only has better graphics. 480p is great versus 480i for the main reason of no more cut offs, no more small text, and better grahpics. If you want 720+ plus you will need HDMI cables or VGA cables.
The only thing I know that would work is to get a ps3. But the cable might be broken if it didn't switch because the system seems to think you didn't switch to HDTV. I know this is a year late but I'm just saying.
most xox360 dont have HDMI so you have to use your composite component cables to get 1080i same as 1080p but not as good sound thats it now set to 1080i then flick the switch to HDTV on the back of the xbox on the conector and thats it
if you have a 360 without the hdmi port you can still get 1080p you can get to 1080p through component if your tv supports it through component but if it doesnt then just get a vga cable and it will give you 1080p thats what i use since i got my 360 in 2006
No, it is VERY close though. 1080p is 1080 lines of pixels horizantally going upward, so a TV that is like yours, 1680 x 1050, is 30 lines of pixels away, but woulden't support it. A TV that is 1900 x 1200 would, because it has more than 1080 lines of pixels horizantally. Hope that cleared things up :)
well like many said you have probably figure it out by now but to some who may have the same question....... many times when you choose resolution output from your source(ps3,xbox etc.) to your display..... your output resolution...480 being the standard 720p being high def. and 1080p being full HD will only show when you actually play a game or a movie. now if you truly want a cinematic experience than go with a 1080p at 24fps thats the highest a consumer can go for now let us wait for 2k & 4k
also my tv is 1680x1050 yet it lets me select 1080p why does it let me do that. and does anyone know what i should set my contrast and brightness to i sit really close to the tv
Can someone please help me and tell me why my T.V. is under 1080p Samsung 22'' yet the edges on the video games looked squared off when i look far in the distance. i bought this shit for pristine picture and thats not what im getting.
You've probably figured it out by now since you posted this over a year ago..
But make sure your TV can actually support resolutions higher than 480p. If it doesn't, then it obviously won't accept any higher resolutions from the Xbox. And make sure you only plug in the component RGB cables, not the RCA cables.
i had a hdtv for christmas and a HD Cable and i didn't notice the difference... but then just went on the settings and realised i had it on 420, so i changed it to 1080 and its awesome!
not 1080i and 1080p the max you can get whit the cable is 720p go and buy your self a hdmi cable bro thes all you need and then set your 360 to 1080p and thes it
is this what ur talking about ralph i have a 1080p tv but my xbox 360 only lets me go to 1080i I use components and have no HDMI any one know the problem p.s my tv is definatly 1080p it says it on the tv itself under the screen 1080p on the box it says it goes up to 1080p! whats the problem is it my xbox or the components?
my bad dude i didnt know they made the hdmi for them 11111lol lolits all about about the enviroment ur system is in when on ie , smokey , hot weedy, carpety, dog slobery , ant infestedy ,roach suckery , spider WeBidy .beer or drink sticky spilly just all demends on how ur consel is breathing and living , keep them healthy fools its like a living thing literly
My xbox is doing the same thing and its driving me nuts. I do have the cable selected to HDTV via the switch on the base of the cable BUT still nothing.
dude it says right on your screen that the hdtv output is disabled because you currently have the switch on t.v. ... dumb ass I really hope you have figured this out by now or I would be worried
What about mine? I can do all of those on component cables but when I do 1080p the screen goes black and it goes back to 1080i? My TV supports 1080p...
If you have an hdmi port on your 360 (newer version xbox, arcade, or elite) than you have to get the HDMI HD A/V Cable for XBOX 360. This will allow you to play on 1080p once you plug it into the HDMI port. It's like 50 bucks or somewhere around there.
you need to switch the switch on the cable from HDTV to Normal tv, then the 360 will restart. Then goto the settings again and select it and 720P and save, and the 360 will then reset again and keep your settings. Then switch the switch on the cable from TV to HDTV, your 360 will keep the settings. At the same time if your TV supports 60hz select that option too as some games only play in 60Hz like FFXI Online / DOA etc. Hope this helps the people out there now having the same problems i did
if you got this then you have to switch the setting on the end of the cable which to connect with your xbox there is a switcher it says tv hdtv you have to change to hdtv
when i hook up my 360 to my hdtv and set it to 720 the all the images colors are off. like evry picture has a green tinge to it. i hooked it up the same way i hooked up my ps3, wats wrong??? can someone help me
but when i turn it to 720p or anytn else higher it go blak and say no signal and i have the new regza toshiba tv (tv sucks) it's 1080p and all looks blury
what u do is connect the green blue red all up first once u have done that connect the other red and the white into there ports this is what i did on my Hd tv so it should work. The Ports should all be on the back of ur tv If u have any problems send me a reply
there should be two red ports on the back of ur tv and one white one make sure u get each of the reds in the correct hole and make sure u have set it to hd on the cord
I KNOW THE PROBLEM*^%&*%^&*%^&*%^&*All you have to do is on the back of ur xbox where u plug the video jack in, on the video jack there is a switch on it switch it to the hdmi and there you go.
One thing, you cannot possibly run anything more than 480p on ya standard 360 DVD player. But honestly, it seems like u have faluty cable cuz i first did this a few days ago and i did not get those kind of problems like you did. But i must ask, do you have all 6 cables hooked up into your tv? Or just just the red, white and yellows ones? Cuz if its not all 6, techically, you r only running RCA input and not component. Make sure all 6 cables r connected properly. If they r, then u got a problem.
wow dude dont listen to this guy LMAO in order to use component cables you leave the "white, red, and yellow" disconnected. DO NOT connect them with the "green, blue, red" if you have all cables connected that is when you will have a problem. its like telling one kid to do something and two kids run and do it. they gonna run into eachother.
*EDIT* Whoops. I have to update this, i made some mistakes. Its not all 6 cables you need to plug in, its all except the yellow audio cable. Also, standard xbox 360 dvd can handle 576p, not 480p. My bad.
You have the core console that gotta suck just get the premium of the elite it comes with everything that you REALLY need just 99$ bucks extra for the premium
see how theres an illustration TELLING U WHAT TO DO?all u have to do is flick the switch on the AV cable from TV to HDTV and plug in the other cables that are on the av cable.
With the HD AVI cable i think the best resolution you can get is 480p. To get a better HD resolution you will need a new Xbox 360 with the HDMI port on. With this new xbox 360 you can hook up a HDMI cable to it and these cables can run on 1080i. The HD AVI cable can only run on 480p.
You couldn't be anymore wrong lol. It looks like he just didn't flick the switch on the side. You telling me at launch they had xbox 360's with HDMI ports. Since by your theory that's the only way to get anything higher then 480p. Research before you post homie.
set ur tv into component input, then set the switch on the AV jack to HDTV, then set it to 720p, make sure that the yellow composite jack is not plugged in.
If your still having the same problems call Microsoft @ 18004myxbox. If they can't help u I suggest u send it in but most importantly try different component ports on your tv or an HDMI port if your 360 and HDTV have them. If anything the HDMI should be the last thing u do before sending MS your 360. Also make sure your TV can go beyond 480P. Some TV's say HDTV on them but can't go higher than 480P. Anything else seems like a technical issue.
DUde u have to plug everythign but he yellow cable. the RGB is for HD picture and the white and red are for the auido.and u goota make sure ur cables are in the right place.
Same problem by me!!!!!HELP!!!!!!

There's a switch on the A/V Cable Connector that toggles between standard definition and high definition. Make sure it's toggled toward HDTV, then try it again.
If you get a black screen or no input after doing this, then your TV doesn't support HD, and it is impossible to play at anything above 480.

Did you fix it? i know this video is old
ThePsychoCrusher89 2 years ago
The only thing I know that would work is to get a ps3. But the cable might be broken if it didn't switch because the system seems to think you didn't switch to HDTV. I know this is a year late but I'm just saying.

i use my HDMI cable on 1080p its the best all new 360's comes with HDMI slots even the arcade 360 version
erick2good 3 years ago
most xox360 dont have HDMI so you have to use your composite component cables to get 1080i same as 1080p but not as good sound thats it now set to 1080i then flick the switch to HDTV on the back of the xbox on the conector and thats it
whitewolves91 3 years ago
Instead of hooking up the red, yellow and white cables,, you have to hook up the blue, green and red cables, the the white and red but NO YELLOW

my xbox 360 dont have hdmi output...
olis95 3 years ago
if you have a 360 without the hdmi port you can still get 1080p you can get to 1080p through component if your tv supports it through component but if it doesnt then just get a vga cable and it will give you 1080p thats what i use since i got my 360 in 2006

1680 x 1050 pix Will my TV supports 1080p???
16dante16 3 years ago
No, it is VERY close though. 1080p is 1080 lines of pixels horizantally going upward, so a TV that is like yours, 1680 x 1050, is 30 lines of pixels away, but woulden't support it. A TV that is 1900 x 1200 would, because it has more than 1080 lines of pixels horizantally. Hope that cleared things up :)

Thanks
16dante16 3 years ago
well like many said you have probably figure it out by now but to some who may have the same question....... many times when you choose resolution output from your source(ps3,xbox etc.) to your display..... your output resolution...480 being the standard 720p being high def. and 1080p being full HD will only show when you actually play a game or a movie. now if you truly want a cinematic experience than go with a 1080p at 24fps thats the highest a consumer can go for now let us wait for 2k & 4k
stryker7x 3 years ago
also my tv is 1680x1050 yet it lets me select 1080p why does it let me do that. and does anyone know what i should set my contrast and brightness to i sit really close to the tv

Can someone please help me and tell me why my T.V. is under 1080p Samsung 22'' yet the edges on the video games looked squared off when i look far in the distance. i bought this shit for pristine picture and thats not what im getting.
Ryankeats0907 3 years ago
ur retard u put it into tv switch change ur xbox cable hdmi the thing that u hooked up on xbox 360 and find the switch hd
cocaine348 3 years ago
You've probably figured it out by now since you posted this over a year ago..
But make sure your TV can actually support resolutions higher than 480p. If it doesn't, then it obviously won't accept any higher resolutions from the Xbox. And make sure you only plug in the component RGB cables, not the RCA cables.

i had a hdtv for christmas and a HD Cable and i didn't notice the difference... but then just went on the settings and realised i had it on 420, so i changed it to 1080 and its awesome!

wrestlmaniacd 2 years ago
Kinda of well i think whozmac problem is that his tv isnt full 1080p but it can support it only on certain things so that is is problem....
ralph627 2 years ago
you do need a HDMI cable because that cable gives out 1080p digital signa to the TV, basicly it's the red, white, yellow cables all in one.

joeeffect10 3 years ago
What about mine? I can do all of those on component cables but when I do 1080p the screen goes black and it goes back to 1080i? My TV supports 1080p...
joeeffect10 3 years ago
If you have an hdmi port on your 360 (newer version xbox, arcade, or elite) than you have to get the HDMI HD A/V Cable for XBOX 360. This will allow you to play on 1080p once you plug it into the HDMI port. It's like 50 bucks or somewhere around there.
MUSTANGFREAK96 3 years ago
Im having the same problem.
cubsclapp 3 years ago
you need to switch the switch on the cable from HDTV to Normal tv, then the 360 will restart. Hope this helps the people out there now having the same problems i did
romaning2004 3 years ago
does your tv support that tho comp cables most only surpport 1080i tho hdmi

tantanman2852 3 years ago
I KNOW THE PROBLEM*^%&*%^&*%^&*%^&*All you have to do is on the back of ur xbox where u plug the video jack in, on the video jack there is a switch on it switch it to the hdmi and there you go.
xzerox154 3 years ago
It might be your component video cables, try borrowing a friends and if that doesn't work try the xbox360 vga cables.
chucknorris687 3 years ago
One thing, you cannot possibly run anything more than 480p on ya standard 360 DVD player. But honestly, it seems like u have faluty cable cuz i first did this a few days ago and i did not get those kind of problems like you did. But i must ask, do you have all 6 cables hooked up into your tv? Or just just the red, white and yellows ones? Cuz if its not all 6, techically, you r only running RCA input and not component. Make sure all 6 cables r connected properly. If they r, then u got a problem.
LFiers 3 years ago
wow dude dont listen to this guy LMAO in order to use component cables you leave the "white, red, and yellow" disconnected. DO NOT connect them with the "green, blue, red" if you have all cables connected that is when you will have a problem. its like telling one kid to do something and two kids run and do it. they gonna run into eachother.
WatchThisLOL 3 years ago
*EDIT* Whoops. I have to update this, i made some mistakes. Its not all 6 cables you need to plug in, its all except the yellow audio cable. Also, standard xbox 360 dvd can handle 576p, not 480p. My bad.
LFiers 3 years ago
he was pressing the b button

Wow, obviously you need a new cable. The switch most likely broke in your cable... I highly recommend you use an hdmi cable if you can.

iroony89 3 years ago
see how theres an illustration TELLING U WHAT TO DO?all u have to do is flick the switch on the AV cable from TV to HDTV and plug in the other cables that are on the av cable.
nickpISgreat 3 years ago
sounds like the switch on your video cable is broken. :(
Spidermonkey6719 3 years ago
did you flick the HD cable switch to the side?
oeyvindh 3 years ago 2
listen to him he said he has it flicked to hdtv.
PaintballGhost68 3 years ago
If your TV is HD, then you need to set the output to HD,otherwise the Xbox 360 thinks your TV is not HD and won't let you go higher.
Khyron56 3 years ago
With the HD AVI cable i think the best resolution you can get is 480p. To get a better HD resolution you will need a new Xbox 360 with the HDMI port on. With this new xbox 360 you can hook up a HDMI cable to it and these cables can run on 1080i. The HD AVI cable can only run on 480p.
Xbox360Stuff 3 years ago
You couldn't be anymore wrong lol. It looks like he just didn't flick the switch on the side. You telling me at launch they had xbox 360's with HDMI ports. Since by your theory that's the only way to get anything higher then 480p. Research before you post homie.

KLUBBFIXXFM 3 years ago
you will need a HDMI cable to make this 1080p work.
jafri 3 years ago
If your still having the same problems call Microsoft @ 18004myxbox. If they can't help u I suggest u send it in but most importantly try different component ports on your tv or an HDMI port if your 360 and HDTV have them. If anything the HDMI should be the last thing u do before sending MS your 360. Also make sure your TV can go beyond 480P. Some TV's say HDTV on them but can't go higher than 480P. Anything else seems like a technical issue.
Turbomorph 3 years ago
put the cable on TV mode then select the HD setting it will go black then switch it to HDTV it will restart and it will be in HD
