The best way I can summarize the 90s is that it felt like the whole world was having fun and partying with each other 24/7 in different media back then - happy music, happy lifestyle, happy commercials etc - it was a feeling of optimism and relief everywhere.
Nowadays it feels like the world is burdened by something and on guard all the time instead.

during the 90's my country had 2 wars, 5 years of total world sanctions \, a miles long lines at the gas stations, markets.... we waited for 2-3 hours in line for essential daily needs such as bread, milk! ad yet, we had a hell of a party time..

@Laurelindo did you miss all the Grundge and alternative rock music coming out at the same time which was pretty much the opposite of happy music, bands like red hot chilli peppers, nirvana, pearl jam, smashing pumpkins, garbage the cranberries and marilyn manson, just to name a few.
I think every generation feels that the music of their youth was better because of the memories it brings of happier times.

@MundyArtStudio I didn't just mean "happier" as in sounding happy, I also meant that it sounded like there was more passion put into that music, and I can actually pick out songs from the 90s quite easily just by listening to how much feeling they seemed to put into that song.
I think you can agree about Ace of Base and Red Hot Chili Peppers being quite a lot better than, for example, Justin Bieber and all those other over-commercial artists.

My indian classmate would play this song on the way to school in his Mustang Cobra back in '95. When I rode with him, I ducked. He had no shame. Was he popular with the ladies? Probably not. Ah to be a high school freshman again.
