Very informative! I've had my Mac for almost a year now too but you found some different things than I did. The most interesting trick I learned recently is the say command in Terminal. Type "say douchebag" and it says "douchebag" beautifully, or whatever text you want it to read. There is another command you can add to that to get it to read a text file, though I don't remember whether is -f or -u and then the filename as a string.
