I read the Comanche has the computing power of 2 Cray Supercomputers for its avionics and weapons systems. Wow. But the weakest link is still link is still the man and its cheaper to build an UAV ose existing technology that will do the same mission

The RAH-66 was cancelled to save money which was put towards upgrading previous and present helicopters like the AH-64. The commanche is very nice but still, you going to mess with an apache because it's less agile? Tell it to the Hydra rockets, or its 30mm cannon.

I belive it was cancelled beacause of money it is better than the apache it performs moves the apache can't do it's quieter it's steathier and it's quicker it can fire a missile then move out of enemy sight in a matter of seconds so on that case fuck eurocopter

Well, they cancelled it because of "costs':]

Apache is very good, but it's a chopper created only in one purpose: to support tanks and to destroy enemy tanks and other solid instalations like radars or sam launchers. Comanche is not only a chopper which combines best characteristics of Apache and Cobra, but it's also stealth. That is why it is such a huge pity that US gov cancelled this project:(

Comanche wasn't really a dedicated attack chopper but a stealth recon and support, they'd still be used with Apache's but they would go in first and gather data and send it to Apache and if they needed to they could fight.

It is a shame this thing is freaking amazing! But I suppose UAV do the same job for recon without endangering pilot lives and cost less. So instead we took the money from Comanche project and upgraded existing fleet of helicopters.

@OlderG0ds As I recall, the Boeing idea was to simultaneously develop the advanced weapon systems that would have turned this thing into the most vicious rotary wing aircraft ever created by Man. Being able to slide into position, acquire, fire on, and run away from targets before the enemy could detect or react would have been a very potent asset.

@OlderG0ds The Uh1z Viper can be are recon helicopter. It's mid sized with an upgraded engine and packs a hell of a punch. I love the commanche but upgrading our cobras was a good decision IMO.
