There are quite a lot of good guns on the market. I have had a great run using RAs and I have no doubts recommending them. I have RAs over 10 years old and they still shoot as they did when I bought them.... I have got a bit more accurate though... ha ha.
@JudgeW haha okayy kewl thanx heaps. just one more question, is sea hornet or orca spearguns any good, i was looking at the sea hornet magnum and the orca thula railgun??? thanx for replying(:
@JudgeW you know what gun iv found to be a good fast action easy to us... the new mirage pursuits they pretty good for the money i use it when im not using my rob allen 750
Hey Judge quick question mate. I live in Mackay Qld and spear there. Never come across any Tigers or Bull sharks as of yet but only reefies. The missus bought me a shark shield around a year ago, but just wondered if you had encountered any nasty ones and what their traits are like. I tell myself they'd be just more inquisitive than anything else.
If there are dead or dying fish in the water you can trust a bullshark to be aggressive and they will go you. Happened to my mate in Gladstone a couple of days ago. I have had to fend them off. I don't think they are wanting to eat you, just chase you off their food. (my opinion) All the tigers I have met have been peaceful... big but peaceful. But occasionally they will have a go. Don't dive alone and keep your wits about you. Cheers.
Hi, I use Rob Allen guns. The camo gun that me and my son use, is the RA1.3 carbon signature. Its my favourite gun and I use it more than any other one.
nice fish bud. I went out on the weekend, and my mate managed to film himself shooting a spanish, camera in one hand, gun in the other. He's not very good though, we gotta keep reminding him to come up for air
It is different for fish taken in different areas. There are some areas where Ciguatera is prevalent and eating mackerel is not advised. However the area where we took these fish was not so affected. We check with the locals if we are not completely sure. If they are not lying on the ground after eating it... it probably is ok... :D
I live in Sydney Australia and have to travel some distance to find these fish. I have shot only 2 spanish mackerel in my life so I still have the pleasure of shooting big macks ahead of me.
Spanish Mackerel are an exciting game fish from tropical waters. They are a strong fighting fish and catching markerel of good size is an adrenalin pumping activity. They are delicious to eat and yes... we ate them.:D
talk about strong fighting, i fought one of these for 35minutes up in the gulf of carpenteria. but it wasnt spear fishing, just normal fishing. he ended up weighing 17kg
The gun is the Rob Allen 1300 Signature Carbonfibre railgun. Very accurate but this model is light and easy to manourver. Both Ant and I have one and they are our favourite guns.

@BMTH4evafy Forget the Seahornet, the orca is the better gun. Almost as good as a Rob Allen, :)

@BMTH4evafy I suggest you look at an ACE speargun...simply awesome. Custom made timber guns. They make a really cool roller gun too.

do u get the hell out of the water after u spear a fish because of sharks? lol
Homebrand91 3 years ago
Not usually. It depends on the activities of the sharks. Just occassionally they get too aggressive to be safety managed and we beat a retreat.

do they get scigetera?

I'm just gettin into the sport and love it! But struggling to find my feet a bit. What would be a tip to learn to hold my breathe longer??

how can you hold your breath for so long?
Rodnoneous45aylmore 4 years ago
We gradually trained ourselves to increase breath hold. There is a lot of freediving technique, much of it available over the net.
