Vista has errors & flaws.

I took 1 GB mp3 player & copied data from it to a 1gb flash drive, & vista complained it is out of space...

I could do it in smaller increments fine, but all at once? No. It does not work. There is plenty of space, but it errors out.

XP does the same job with no errors or problems.

Vista works GREAT for me too. How old can your hardware be to NOT be able to use it with Vista??? Try using your XP drivers. My scanner works fine even though it has NO official vista driver. I just used my XP driver and app and it works like a charm. Stop the Vista hating already.

I don't only use my computer for HD editing and CS3, I was just stating examples of the most CPU labor intensive programs that I use to show you that Vista does run great performance when equipt with the proper hardware in professional situations. I have yet to render a Lightwave scene using radiosity in Vista. I'll have to get back to you on that one.

Same here, running Vista 64 and stable as a rock, even all the IE7 crashes I had on XP are gone. And as for multi core processors; XP mainly used the first core, Vista actually does an excellent job of dividing the workload.

i got the vista sp1 rc1 and my pc works fine. many people have problems with vista because they have old crappy hardware. and off course windows has its own usual problems and crashes that happen from time to time, but they rarely happen to me.

I'm using Vista SP1 RTM v6.0.6001.1800 and I have had no issues what so ever. Things I have noticed in SP1 are large file transfers are faster. If you have more then 1 HD, Defrag can now scan them both automatcily if you choose to do so. Sfc/ scannow now scans 100%, a lot of people were having problems before SP1 with sfc scanning only 98% or lower. Startup and Shutdown times have increased a little. And Finally Readyboost now holds cache after coming out of sleep mode.

I can honestly say to every1 that sp1 did little on my computer. It still feels the same without the sp1. But the thing that pissed me off the most is that it takes for ever to transfer files from Disk C to disk D... Vista SP1 has no noticeable new features. But I am telling you right now, it's been proven that XP runs games at higher frame rates on the same machine as Vista. Dual-boot and install the same game on both and enable a frame rate counter. You will see a difference.

Nvidia actually released drivers in december which drastically closed the gaming gap between vista and XP. Also Sp1 does improve performance quite a bit especially with overall application response, and file transfers and copying, etc. I have also noticed my internet access is a bit snappier too. maybe not quite as fast as XP, but it sure is hell finally feels like a finished OS.

hmm that woman must be trying it on a mac or a 15 yr old pc. i have been running vista ultimate since it came out and betas since before that. have only had minor compatibility issues. far more stable than xp home atleast on my built systems. and hell every windows version has had bad reviews when it first comes out. people just don't like change

"RC SP1 of x64" can never run like a charm, there is a reason why they call it RC and also any RC still contains a lot debugging code that should make the RC slower than the final version.

Nope. RC stands for 'release candidate' which means MS consider this releasable unless they find problems with it. As a result it wont have any added instrumentation that wont be in the final release.
