I like Eva, but yea, i can agree that Shinji is one of the most annoying and cowardly main characters i've ever seen. The rebuild is making him into less of a pussy, though.

Akira, Evangelion, DBZ....All classics, all had great influences on recents series, top animation for the time they were made and deep storylines (except dbz but its a fighting show)!
There's nothing wrong with InuYasha. I reckon is one of the best series ever. They may have fillers but at least it still keeps up with the storyline and the series is finished. I may like Bleach but Bleach should've been the list instead of InuYasha. Naruto should've been number 1 in the overrated list since they have too much fillers and getting confusing.
Funnily enough almost half of these animes brought my to become an anime fan...
Also Deus Ex Machina can be applied to any Shonen anime... Hell look at Hollow Ichigo in Bleach or the One Piece Gear Second which Luffy learnt from no where (yes it appeared in a movie for a few seconds but movies aren't canon)

Story wise, All Japanese Anime aside from Kenshin suck. And it has nothing to do with all the crap you had just said ggn3. It is all about the lack of good transitional writing.
Transitional writing is the writing that occurs or build up between sagas. It isn't the actual writing that you make, yet rather the feel that people from watching one saga then viewing the next.
Kenshin is the only anime I have seen with comfortable transitional writing.
Even though a good number of the animes you have provided have terrible transitional writing, aside from Akira since it is a Movie and thus has no transitional writing, they are much better than Bleach. Even Naruto has better transitional writing than Bleach. And DBZ is a close second for ultimate worse transitional writing. I mean come on compare the Saiyan to the Buu Sagas and you'll notice this on your own. As for Bleach, compare the beginning of the show to its current manga installment.
Evangelion is also quite poor, especially when you look at its choice of characters, but it is suppose to flow with some sort of psychological bullshit.
To me, it is all bullshit. Asuka Langley is a bullshit character. That's why she is a completely different person in the new series. She sucked that badly. Rei is Iconic, so I don't think they'll ever change her. But the one they really need to change is Shinji. Even though he is funny, he would be better with a Yusuke Uramishi personality.

If transitional writing is the feel you get from watching arc after arc don't different people interpret and enjoy things in different ways than others? Like entertainment value, interesting dilemmas, deep characters. If what you say transitional writing is anyway, I have to say that Hunter X Hunter, Monster, Kiba, Gurren Lagann and One Piece are also gems!
Transitional writing is what makes a series, a series. A continuation a continuation. If transitional writing wasn't such an importance, then surely every anime would be merely a single episode long. And wouldn't that be a drag?

I explained what it was. It is the feeling you acquire when between sagas, episodes, or even scenes to some extent. It is not what you actually write, but the feeling you give the audience between the things you write.
Good example, you have played Final Fantasy. What is the feeling you get between FFX and FFX-2. That feeling is what you acquire from what is called transitional writing.
@SmartGuy4today well the feeling I get from X is that its a pretty depressing story but with epic delivery and X-2 is very bouncy and happy =P in that case One Piece definitely has great transitional writing because each arc has a whole new feel to it. Alabasta was making me care about the characters because Vivi was going through so much and the characters were 100% dedicated to helping giving it a huge and epic feel while Skypeia felt more like a grand adventure!
I believe Neon Genesis issss one of the best animes out there.. the English dub is sometimes hard to watch cuz the script seems wonky ....but. theres something about it that draws me in .

Lol, but in all seriousness, you have some valid points, but you should probably try actually giving well balanced reviews for these shows instead of flaming them. Flawed or no, most of these anime got popular because they have several redeeming qualities that were appreciated by many people. :)
Really, instead of complaining about shows nobody likes anymore, you could've included the real offenders like Vampire Knight (which is basically the Twilight saga of Anime), Hetalia (which is not only overrated, but also quite offensive), or probably Code Geass (I never saw this one but from what I know of it, it's basically just another healthy dose of Japanese nationalism marketed for kids).
I usually don't understand what's up with EVA. Every time I hear somebody talk about it, "It's overrated" is all I hear. I mean how the heck can something everybody hates, be overrated.
Inuyasha is pretty old, and not too many people like it or are willing to admit to liking it anymore.
Dragonball was the first long running fighting series, so I personally believe it's fair to give it a pass and forgive all it's flaws.
But there are so many that deserve to be on this list, and you left them out.

@Sckarton The movie (EoE) was the what was happening physically during third impact and the original series ending was the mental representation of third impact which is all life forms separating from there physical bodies and becoming one single entity in the the black moon (seed of Lilith) but then Shinji rejects third impact and Lilith (Rei) dies and know anybody who has the will to live may return to earth (hence why Asuka is alive lying in the beach at the end). Yeah it does have a good plot actually. I don't know about you but I'm not going to say no to a powerful organisation with a great twist behind its founding collecting demons sealed inside people who are in depth characters with great backstory behind them who are used as products of war creating diverse story arcs with enjoyable fight sequences with an ongoing story.

Oh but DBZ, fuck you dude, that anime isn't the best but its one of the better ones out there. It is a bit repetitive, but you can't deny that the fight scenes were awsome.
I'm still not really sure what criteria he gives to make an anime overrated. There are dozens of anime that all have insanely hardcore fans that would declare them the greatest of all, and many are laden with some set of problems. I mean Naruto's problems are the same as, say Bleach, YuYu Hakusho, D. Gray Man and One Piece just to name a few that come to mind.
Agree with most of your list save for Elfen Lied, as I actually liked the open ending and Yugioh, as I've never thought it to be good.
I don't think that Naruto is overrated, I think that it's a really good anime (but the fillers suck so bad, the animation company could have put it on hiatus just like Katekyo Hitman Reborn). But I think people hate it / think that it's overrated because of the fans (Narutards). I used to be a narutard (oh god kill me now), I used to put my konohagakure headband wherever I went, etc. Oh, I regret those days SO much.

hmm... i agree with quite alot of your overrated animes. but my opinion is, Bleach should be included, and Bleach, Naruto, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Dragon Ball(not in order) should be top 5. i like evangelion, but i guess it is overrated. the story's too complex, and the characters are like mentally unwell. especially later on. it also ends at a freaking cliffhanger, with asuka strangling shinji. as for Clannad, i dont agree with it being over-rated, but hey, we all have our own opinions.

1) OOOOOOHHHHHHHH YES! A series where no-one's characters develop other than a complete and utter ass hole who everybody seems to forget about how evil he was for a good 200 episodes only to fangasm over him because of how bad ass he is not to mention we pretty much had Piccolo for that. I would go into a rant about Gohan since he's the other developing character but tbh he was one of the only likeable characters to me. But the most overrated pieces of trash have to be the DBZ movies and GT
2) Meh, I don't think it should be as high up as number 2 but that's probably just down to my opinion. But nevertheless it isn't a great anime. I can't believe people think of this as a piece of revolutionary artwork. It's insane! What the hell was up with the psychoanalysis in the last two episodes. If the anime was like that the whole way through that would have been fine. But it went from a cool mecha sorta anime, to a depressing anime, to a psychological anime. WTF!!!???

3) The Kanto arc was awesome! Definately not overrated, even though it's geared at kids it was still very enjoyable if you were a fan of the games and the characters were still very entertaining. They even made Pokemon Yellow as a tribute to it. Then it just started to go downhill until we got the plain awful series known as Battle Frontier and Battle Dimension... bleh...
4) Disagree, I think it's rated the perfect amount. Sure it does meet a few cliche's but it's no where NEAR as bad as people make it out to be. The tournament had an awesome twist for a start, the filler is EASILY skip-able and at least they had it in between the two series instead of jamming too much into Shippuden. People complain too much about the fan-base and fan-fiction when that's not even anything to do with the actual show, and lets not forget the obsessive complaints on Narutos suit ¬¬
5) Definitely, I thought it got off to a great start but then it just got awful after the first Sesshomaru battle. I mean it's likely more appealing to people who don't like to feel they've missed out on a bunch of plot just for missing a couple of episodes but that's no excuse! It could have been pulled off so much better

What kind of development is there from the common shounen anime cliches of gaining power boosts, fighting to get stronger, bragging about your new moves/ power ups or plans of world conquest and fighting that takes up a dozen episodes at a time? Not to mention the series having enough inconsistencies. For example, Goku after Frieza Saga claimed he survived by snagging a Ginyu Force space pod yet he was clearly shown fleeing from Frieza's ship before it dipped into lava during the Frieza Saga.
2.He also stated he learned instant transmission,being he might have teleported into the ship and used it to escape before planet namek exploded
But the series did have plenty of inconsistencies like plot-holes and continuity,but tons of movies and tv shows are riddled with those,even the most critically acclaimed.
But I can't argue over one's personal perseverance and taste anyways
1. No, Goku was clearly shown on the planet with no way off it after escaping Frieza's ship falling into a ravine of lava. He had no way off the planet.
2. He learned Instant Transmission from the Yardrat aliens after crash landing on their planet from taking a Ginyu Force alien pod which contradicts the clearly shown earlier footage of Goku stranded on Namek.
And FYI, DBZ's the most notorious example of having inconsistencies and plot holes for an anime series.
@ggn3 altough you are right in the second point, and whats next, gokus speed at that point is massively hypersonic over mach 1000, he could get on that pod, 100 times in a second if he wanted to, the scene was supposedly just dramatization to make it seem like goku died
Actually,a majority of DBZ fans(myself including) have acknowledged DBZ's faults & weaknesses,but yet,we still enjoy it,it's only the totally big fanboy who won't admit to it's several counts of flaws,it's a flawed series,it's been establsihed,so I can't agree with #1,or Pokemon & Yu-Gi-Oh on the list.

@DBZAOTA482 you kept removing your comments so I'll just reply to this. I consider DBZ overrated because the way I see it if it wasn't for the fact the fights were good there would be no reason to watch it. Gohan and Vegeta are the only characters the develop, the storyline doesn't really go anywhere, after they kill the main villain of a saga everything goes back to the way it was pretty much until the next threat.
I'd much rather watch something with more substance to the story and characters

It would be very fair to put both of these anime on this list because everybody who knows anime know them and draw a lot of positive and negative attention. but the reason they would be considered overrated is because one of them is incredibly long winded and the characters aren't particularly appealing and the other is about people who battle each other via children's card games.

I agree with you, there are many animes that are only popular but the content is very poor, you caught me when you started with elfen leid, I have always hated this anime, but everyone puts in the number 1 favorite, and it's just a bad story with a great opening. same with evangelion, most people do not even understand it. Naruto and DBZ, I'm not saying they're bad anime but are repetitive and very basic story that complete the regulations to be a success in the West.

@Sanisaninja: Actually, Anno did indeed receive death threats from his work on the TV show's ending, as well as Gainax's HQ being sprayed with grafitti from angered fans. Some of the threats Anno received from fans are used for some of the footage in End of Eva. I've seen more than enough titles in the eight years I've seen of anime and Inuyasha and Eva are among those that I find that received much more hype than they truly deserved.
@Sanisaninja: While Digimon did have its popularity back when it aired on Fox Kids, I felt the show was always in the shadow of the more popular trading card/ video game promoting anime titles in the form of Yu-gi-oh and Pokemon. Beyond the first two seasons, I didn't hear anything about Tamers and Frontier until the time Jetix began airing them which was a few years after Fox Kids stopped airing Digimon. Meanwhile, Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh were still being widely talked about and seen on TV.
@ggn3 Personally I would have put NGE lower in the list, the anime had some...questionable parts and a few plot holes that have to get searched up in order to understand. The manga version, however is one of my favorites.
If I'm not mistaken eva-00 doesn't have a 'soul' since its supposed to be a close clone of Lilith or Adam (or something like that...), not entirely sure.

@traumende: That's a possibility considering Rei being part-Angel. My question had more to do with the fact the commonly accepted belief from fans about the souls in the Evas were that they contained the dead souls of the pilot's mothers which allowed the pilot to better synchronize with the Eva. Some believe that the soul of Ritsuko's dead mother is in Eva-00 which I find ridiculous considering she killed Rei's first body and their lack of blood connection.
i agree with everything except for inuyasha, and maybe pokemon. i mean pokemon should be on the list, but not that high. i also think death note is pretty damn overrated. it's good but nowhere near as good as people make it out to be. i personally think naruto is the most overrated. it gets WAY too much attention.
Bleach is really good its not as good as people make it out to be but i what show like that isnt, me personally if i watch a anime i like it dont care about what someone else thinks of it. yea DBZ is one of the most overrated anime but that doesnt make me like it any less but thats not the case with some like eva (the main hero being is heroic as a sack of potatoes) and Ghost in the Shell( which is just boring as hell) or even Deathnote ( which tries to make the most mundane actions exciting)
Honestly, I haven't seen Bleach at all. When I made this list, I wanted to be fair and only include anime I actually seen at the time I made this video.
The three anime that are higher up on my list have greater notoriety amongst anime fans than the latest shounen anime craze coming from Japan. Pokemon's still being milked by Nintendo, Eva's still considered by a number of folks as a masterpiece despite its questionable direction by Anno and Toei/ Funi just don't know when to let DBZ fizzle out in hype and money milking.
Ash practically has a different voice actor for every season. Brock probably does too but at least he sounds like he always does...even though he sound a lot more mature than ash but they're closely age related. Not to mention the fact they get rid of the female character over and over...personally i only like the games

Also Deus Ex Machina can be applied to any Shonen anime... Hell look at Hollow Ichigo in Bleach or the One Piece Gear Second which Luffy learnt from no where (yes it appeared in a movie for a few seconds but movies aren't canon)

Story wise, All Japanese Anime aside from Kenshin suck. And it has nothing to do with all the crap you had just said ggn3. It is all about the lack of good transitional writing.
Transitional writing is the writing that occurs or build up between sagas. It isn't the actual writing that you make, yet rather the feel that people from watching one saga then viewing the next.
Kenshin is the only anime I have seen with comfortable transitional writing.

Even though a good number of the animes you have provided have terrible transitional writing, aside from Akira since it is a Movie and thus has no transitional writing, they are much better than Bleach. Even Naruto has better transitional writing than Bleach. And DBZ is a close second for ultimate worse transitional writing. I mean come on compare the Saiyan to the Buu Sagas and you'll notice this on your own. As for Bleach, compare the beginning of the show to its current manga installment.

To me, it is all bullshit. Asuka Langley is a bullshit character. That's why she is a completely different person in the new series. She sucked that badly. Rei is Iconic, so I don't think they'll ever change her. But the one they really need to change is Shinji. Even though he is funny, he would be better with a Yusuke Uramishi personality.

If transitional writing is the feel you get from watching arc after arc don't different people interpret and enjoy things in different ways than others? Like entertainment value, interesting dilemmas, deep characters. If what you say transitional writing is anyway, I have to say that Hunter X Hunter, Monster, Kiba, Gurren Lagann and One Piece are also gems!

I explained what it was. It is the feeling you acquire when between sagas, episodes, or even scenes to some extent. It is not what you actually write, but the feeling you give the audience between the things you write.
Good example, you have played Final Fantasy. What is the feeling you get between FFX and FFX-2. That feeling is what you acquire from what is called transitional writing.

@SmartGuy4today well the feeling I get from X is that its a pretty depressing story but with epic delivery and X-2 is very bouncy and happy =P in that case One Piece definitely has great transitional writing because each arc has a whole new feel to it. Alabasta was making me care about the characters because Vivi was going through so much and the characters were 100% dedicated to helping giving it a huge and epic feel while Skypeia felt more like a grand adventure!

I'll take it on that fact. One Piece does hold better transitional writing than most anime. Certainly better than Bleach or Sailor Moon.

Really, instead of complaining about shows nobody likes anymore, you could've included the real offenders like Vampire Knight (which is basically the Twilight saga of Anime), Hetalia (which is not only overrated, but also quite offensive), or probably Code Geass (I never saw this one but from what I know of it, it's basically just another healthy dose of Japanese nationalism marketed for kids).

I usually don't understand what's up with EVA. Every time I hear somebody talk about it, "It's overrated" is all I hear. I mean how the heck can something everybody hates, be overrated.
Inuyasha is pretty old, and not too many people like it or are willing to admit to liking it anymore.
Dragonball was the first long running fighting series, so I personally believe it's fair to give it a pass and forgive all it's flaws.
But there are so many that deserve to be on this list, and you left them out.

@Sckarton The movie (EoE) was the what was happening physically during third impact and the original series ending was the mental representation of third impact which is all life forms separating from there physical bodies and becoming one single entity in the the black moon (seed of Lilith) but then Shinji rejects third impact and Lilith (Rei) dies and know anybody who has the will to live may return to earth (hence why Asuka is alive lying in the beach at the end). I don't know about you but I'm not going to say no to a powerful organisation with a great twist behind its founding collecting demons sealed inside people who are in depth characters with great backstory behind them who are used as products of war creating diverse story arcs with enjoyable fight sequences with an ongoing story.

I'm still not really sure what criteria he gives to make an anime overrated. There are dozens of anime that all have insanely hardcore fans that would declare them the greatest of all, and many are laden with some set of problems. I mean Naruto's problems are the same as, say Bleach, YuYu Hakusho, D. Gray Man and One Piece just to name a few that come to mind.
Agree with most of your list save for Elfen Lied, as I actually liked the open ending and Yugioh, as I've never thought it to be good.

I don't think that Naruto is overrated, I think that it's a really good anime (but the fillers suck so bad, the animation company could have put it on hiatus just like Katekyo Hitman Reborn). But I think people hate it / think that it's overrated because of the fans (Narutards). I used to be a narutard (oh god kill me now), I used to put my konohagakure headband wherever I went, etc. Oh, I regret those days SO much.

i adore inuyasha. but it shouldn't have been forcibly extended. i love naruto (and shippuden) too. but it tries my patience. so i watch it on and off. i watched the first pokemon as a child and loved it. hate everything that came after. and Dawn is a slut. tried to watch evangelion. but i was starting to go psychotic from it. the funny thing is. i can stand the stretched out battles of DBZ more than Naruto. btw, you forgot The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumia. hmm... i agree with quite alot of your overrated animes. but my opinion is, Bleach should be included, and Bleach, Naruto, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Dragon Ball(not in order) should be top 5. i like evangelion, but i guess it is overrated. the story's too complex, and the characters are like mentally unwell. especially later on. it also ends at a freaking cliffhanger, with asuka strangling shinji. as for Clannad, i dont agree with it being over-rated, but hey, we all have our own opinions.

1) OOOOOOHHHHHHHH YES! A series where no-one's characters develop other than a complete and utter ass hole who everybody seems to forget about how evil he was for a good 200 episodes only to fangasm over him because of how bad ass he is not to mention we pretty much had Piccolo for that. I would go into a rant about Gohan since he's the other developing character but tbh he was one of the only likeable characters to me. But the most overrated pieces of trash have to be the DBZ movies and GT

2) Meh, I don't think it should be as high up as number 2 but that's probably just down to my opinion. But nevertheless it isn't a great anime. I can't believe people think of this as a piece of revolutionary artwork. It's insane! What the hell was up with the psychoanalysis in the last two episodes. If the anime was like that the whole way through that would have been fine. But it went from a cool mecha sorta anime, to a depressing anime, to a psychological anime. WTF!!!???

3) The Kanto arc was awesome! Definately not overrated, even though it's geared at kids it was still very enjoyable if you were a fan of the games and the characters were still very entertaining. They even made Pokemon Yellow as a tribute to it. Then it just started to go downhill until we got the plain awful series known as Battle Frontier and Battle Dimension... bleh...

4) Disagree, I think it's rated the perfect amount. Sure it does meet a few cliche's but it's no where NEAR as bad as people make it out to be. The tournament had an awesome twist for a start, the filler is EASILY skip-able and at least they had it in between the two series instead of jamming too much into Shippuden. People complain too much about the fan-base and fan-fiction when that's not even anything to do with the actual show, and lets not forget the obsessive complaints on Narutos suit ¬¬

What kind of development is there from the common shounen anime cliches of gaining power boosts, fighting to get stronger, bragging about your new moves/ power ups or plans of world conquest and fighting that takes up a dozen episodes at a time? Not to mention the series having enough inconsistencies. For example, Goku after Frieza Saga claimed he survived by snagging a Ginyu Force space pod yet he was clearly shown fleeing from Frieza's ship before it dipped into lava during the Frieza Saga.

The goku escape thing is not an inconistencie:
1.He chould have done it overtime
2.He also stated he learned instant transmission,being he might have teleported into the ship and used it to escape before planet namek exploded
But the series did have plenty of inconsistencies like plot-holes and continuity,but tons of movies and tv shows are riddled with those,even the most critically acclaimed.
But I can't argue over one's personal perseverance and taste anyways

1. No, Goku was clearly shown on the planet with no way off it after escaping Frieza's ship falling into a ravine of lava. He had no way off the planet.
2. He learned Instant Transmission from the Yardrat aliens after crash landing on their planet from taking a Ginyu Force alien pod which contradicts the clearly shown earlier footage of Goku stranded on Namek.
And FYI, DBZ's the most notorious example of having inconsistencies and plot holes for an anime series.

Actually,a majority of DBZ fans(myself including) have acknowledged DBZ's faults & weaknesses,but yet,we still enjoy it,it's only the totally big fanboy who won't admit to it's several counts of flaws,it's a flawed series,it's been establsihed,so I can't agree with #1,or Pokemon & Yu-Gi-Oh on the list.
overrate = overestimate the merits of;rate too highly.
P.S. DBZ is far from repetitive,& it's rich storyline,& characterization can't be overlooked for flaws

I consider DBZ overrated because the way I see it if it wasn't for the fact the fights were good there would be no reason to watch it. Gohan and Vegeta are the only characters the develop, the storyline doesn't really go anywhere, after they kill the main villain of a saga everything goes back to the way it was pretty much until the next threat.
I'd much rather watch something with more substance to the story and characters

It would be very fair to put both of these anime on this list because everybody who knows anime know them and draw a lot of positive and negative attention. but the reason they would be considered overrated is because one of them is incredibly long winded and the characters aren't particularly appealing and the other is about people who battle each other via children's card games.

And who's this "most people"? Are you sure you aren't just searching for the answers you want to find and reading through Yugioh hate forums and assuming everyone hates it because of that. Because I could controversially do that and come back and say "most people DO like them"

To be honest I wouldn't have Pokemon on my top 10 most overrated anime titles list if I made one but I still think it's pretty overrated since so many kids think it's great when it just blatently isn't (I have young cousins who love Pokemon, and also pretty much everyone I know/knew watched it when they were a kid)

I agree with you, there are many animes that are only popular but the content is very poor, you caught me when you started with elfen leid, I have always hated this anime, but everyone puts in the number 1 favorite, and it's just a bad story with a great opening. same with evangelion, most people do not even understand it. Naruto and DBZ, I'm not saying they're bad anime but are repetitive and very basic story that complete the regulations to be a success in the West.

None of the couples in Naruto are strong enough, that's just over obsessive people who make them. And let's be honest. Every anime is going to have couples pairing and even Yaoi.

@Sanisaninja: Actually, Anno did indeed receive death threats from his work on the TV show's ending, as well as Gainax's HQ being sprayed with grafitti from angered fans. Some of the threats Anno received from fans are used for some of the footage in End of Eva. I've seen more than enough titles in the eight years I've seen of anime and Inuyasha and Eva are among those that I find that received much more hype than they truly deserved.

@Sanisaninja: While Digimon did have its popularity back when it aired on Fox Kids, I felt the show was always in the shadow of the more popular trading card/ video game promoting anime titles in the form of Yu-gi-oh and Pokemon. Beyond the first two seasons, I didn't hear anything about Tamers and Frontier until the time Jetix began airing them which was a few years after Fox Kids stopped airing Digimon. Meanwhile, Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh were still being widely talked about and seen on TV.

@ggn3 Personally I would have put NGE lower in the list, the anime had some...questionable parts and a few plot holes that have to get searched up in order to understand. The manga version, however is one of my favorites.
If I'm not mistaken eva-00 doesn't have a 'soul' since its supposed to be a close clone of Lilith or Adam (or something like that...), not entirely sure.
On another note, I really enjoyed this list, keep it up :).

@traumende: That's a possibility considering Rei being part-Angel. My question had more to do with the fact the commonly accepted belief from fans about the souls in the Evas were that they contained the dead souls of the pilot's mothers which allowed the pilot to better synchronize with the Eva. Some believe that the soul of Ritsuko's dead mother is in Eva-00 which I find ridiculous considering she killed Rei's first body and their lack of blood connection.

i agree with everything except for inuyasha, and maybe pokemon. i mean pokemon should be on the list, but not that high. i also think death note is pretty damn overrated. it's good but nowhere near as good as people make it out to be. i personally think naruto is the most overrated. it gets WAY too much attention.

Bleach is really good its not as good as people make it out to be but i what show like that isnt, me personally if i watch a anime i like it dont care about what someone else thinks of it. yea DBZ is one of the most overrated anime but that doesnt make me like it any less but thats not the case with some like eva (the main hero being is heroic as a sack of potatoes) and Ghost in the Shell( which is just boring as hell) or even Deathnote ( which tries to make the most mundane actions exciting)

The three anime that are higher up on my list have greater notoriety amongst anime fans than the latest shounen anime craze coming from Japan. Pokemon's still being milked by Nintendo, Eva's still considered by a number of folks as a masterpiece despite its questionable direction by Anno and Toei/ Funi just don't know when to let DBZ fizzle out in hype and money milking.

My main problem with Pokemon is that they don't age even though after all those episodes Ash should be well into pubety.
I fell same way about EVA, even though it is no often on Best Lists. Sure, I think it is good, but is not THAT good. DBZ is way hyped too.

Ash practically has a different voice actor for every season. Brock probably does too but at least he sounds like he always does...even though he sound a lot more mature than ash but they're closely age related. Not to mention the fact they get rid of the female character over and over...personally i only like the games
