Hi, many compliments for your work. I want to do something similar myself. Please could you tell me why you are using c# and xna for such a performance-critical project?
@steamednotfried I'd was asked if I wanted to work on a team with another project using XNA (1.0) - so I thought I get to grips with it and try some terrain rendering, and that's when I started Britonia.
@MrSean490 yes it is spherical. You could set off walking from one of the poles, and provided you have enough time, walk around the world and back to the start.
WOW! I've actually been wanting to create a large exploration game, where there are actually planets, rather than just a flat terrain. Seeing this, well that is awesome and now I'm definitely going to learn how to program and use C# and use XNA
haha well, I wanted to get a basic grasp of programming first, so I installed game studio 7 which uses Lite-C programming or something and I've been following those tutorials to get a hang of it. However, my main computer died 2 weeks ago and I've yet to buy a new mobo for it so I haven't done anything recently.
Anyway, to your point, sadly no, when it comes to C# I still have no idea.
@brendonnelly hi - it is spherical, but the terrain (nodes) are only created when the camera is within 'range', so for example, the distant side of the planet in this scene doesn't exist in memory, as it will not be generated until the camera gets closer to it.
@MrCaioable hi, unfortunately this isn't available for download at the minute as there isn't currently anything to do in it. Britonia has also taken a back seat to some of my more 'serious' projects for WP7.
It'll be a while yet though before they'll be a demo. Although the planet is starting to look better, I still have to do all the work for the surface objects

how did you program the level? is it all generated real time?

I love the way you've set up an entire planet, very clever. This could turn into an amazing game if you start adding content!

I am curious about one thing, is it truly completely spherical? Or did you just create the illusion of that?
And are you able to walk across the world world (assuming it is spherical) and not fall off?

Programming is quite intense!

@b3ngii hi, the world has a radius of 6357Km, which is roughly the same as earth.

is it actually a globe or a flat plane?

thanks for your comments nemo and drbjn :)
yeah, I realise that music helps improve the reception of videos, I'll have to find some from somewhere to sneak into the videos in the future.

Now that is just awesome. I very rarely say this, and if at all... I wish I had written that :D
Great camera translation to. You just need to get some "real" clouds in there now :P
Brilliant job mate, truly brilliant. I would have given it 6 stars..
